CHAPTER 32: CHAPTER 32: THE LITTLE PITIFUL SISTER-IN-LAW (PART 2)
Five years ago, she already understood her father’s temperament. He is profit-driven, self-centered... A father-daughter relationship?
What nonsense is that?
In his heart, there’s only interests.
So when the truth about her and Claire North’s origins was exposed back then, to keep Claire and her mother calm, he hid the truth, claiming to the outside world that she was an adopted daughter, watching her endure humiliation and various embarrassments within The North Family.
Even after she was abandoned by Beau Shelby, he ignored her for five years.
Now he’s trying to play the role of a caring father, simply because she still has value for him.
Not far away, Quinn Thorne watching this drama couldn’t help but click his tongue.
"Tsk tsk tsk, I didn’t expect the sister-in-law to be the pitiful one at home. This family is really something else; the sister-in-law can’t have it easy. Boss, if you don’t go, I’m going to step in?"
Quinn cast a mischievous glance at the silent Elias Hawthorne beside him.
Elias, looking at Raina North standing proudly among the crowd, her back straight, stubborn yet lonely, had a peculiar glint in his eyes.
Elias called Aidan Lynch, then saw something, a trace of a smile flashed across his cold face.
After a long silence, Aidan couldn’t help but feel curious.
"President Hawthorne?"
"It’s nothing."
Aidan froze, and suspiciously followed his boss’s gaze.
Raina looked coldly at all the hypocritical faces in front of her, a mocking smile on her lips.
"Who said I killed someone? Who did I kill?"
"Raina, you killed Grandpa and yet you still play dumb? Do you think this will hide your crime?" Evelyn Xavier glared in disbelief, wondering if Raina was truly dumb or pretending, daring to be cunning in front of the police.
"Sister, Grandpa is already dead, yet there’s not a trace of sadness on your face. Are you worthy of the care Grandpa showed you?" Claire North closed her eyes, visibly heartbroken.
Even Beau, who had been determined to speak in favor of Raina, was now full of disapproval.
Raina sneered, "Who said Grandpa died? Claire North, put away that fake face. Do you know you look really ugly when you cry?"
"Enough, Raina!" Beau couldn’t listen anymore. "Claire kindly speaks for you, and you mock her instead. The Raina I know is a well-bred noble lady, how did you become like this?"
Sharp-tongued and acting like a shrew.
Raina coldly shot him a glance, the kind that made Beau feel a pang of guilt.
Like a knife, sharply cutting through his façade and exposing his dirtiest side.
Raina truly didn’t want to waste a single word on him, ignoring Beau, she walked towards the emergency room.
Old Master North’s body had already been covered with a white sheet, Evelyn hurried forward to stop Raina as she approached to uncover it.
"Raina, what are you trying to do?"
"Get lost." Raina really didn’t want to waste words on Evelyn, who was acting as Claire’s pawn and feeling proud about it. Didn’t she know how embarrassing that was?
"Sister, Grandpa is gone, do you have to destroy his last dignity too?"
...
Seeing a group of people blocking her way, Raina couldn’t help but feel a bit troubled.
From a distance, Elias seeing this scene frowned.
"Is your hospital’s security that poor?"
Quinn, after being glared at, touched his nose and quickly notified security to maintain order.
Soon security arrived, and Raina smoothly came to Old Master North’s side, uncovering the white sheet.
