CHAPTER 35: CHAPTER 35: UH-OH, THE DISGUISE IS SLIPPING (PART 1)
Claire North saw Raina North being so disrespectful, she couldn’t help but grit her teeth. Seeing Raina decisively turn to leave, she had to speak up: "I do have something to ask of you, sister. I hope you can refuse the shares Grandpa left you."
"I don’t agree."
Claire North suddenly became anxious, grabbing Raina’s hand: "Sister, you can’t be so selfish. Do you know that because you’re keeping all these shares, our family has been in turmoil? Can you bear to see Grandpa, at his age, have no peace at all?"
"Stop pretending here." Raina looked at Claire, enunciating each word: "Claire, have you forgotten that Grandpa isn’t dead yet? His belongings aren’t yours to covet. Let go of my hand!"
After saying that, she forcefully shook off Claire’s hand.
Claire stumbled a couple of steps before steadying herself, then she leaned into Beau Shelby’s arms, sobbing: "Beau, I’m really doing this for the good of the whole family. How could my sister misunderstand me like this?"
"I know, I know. It’s Raina who’s gone too far." Beau patiently comforted his weeping fiancée, his gaze following the departing Raina.
...
When she walked out of the hospital, it was already time to clock out.
At this moment, pedestrians rushed home briskly.
For some reason, Raina suddenly wanted to see Casper North very much. Just as she took out her phone to call a cab, a car stopped abruptly in front of her.
The car window rolled down, revealing a devastatingly handsome face.
It was Elias Hawthorne.
"Hi, what a coincidence."
"Get in the car."
"No, thanks." Raina took a step back: "I won’t disturb your busy schedule."
After speaking, Raina turned decisively.
However, after only two steps, someone grabbed her wrist.
Raina turned back: "President Hawthorne, do you have instructions?"
Elias stared at her, for some reason hearing Quinn Thorne’s words in his head: ’Didn’t expect the sister-in-law to be such a little pitiful at home.’
Suddenly, he felt as if his heart had been pinched by an ant, not painful, but uncomfortable. After a pause, he suddenly said: "Are you upset?"
"What?" Raina looked at Elias in confusion.
Elias dodged the question, saying: "I’ll take you back."
Raina looked at Elias for a moment, then suddenly grabbed his wrist, feeling his pulse, muttering: "You’re not feverish, nothing else seems wrong either."
Elias’s handsome face turned dark, gritting his teeth: "Rai-na!"
"Okay, okay, at least you weren’t possessed by some wandering spirit." Raina patted her chest with a relieved look.
As she was patting, Raina felt something was wrong.
Slowly lowering her head, she saw Elias’s large hand on her chest.
He even squeezed it...
Raina’s cheeks flushed bright red, and without hesitation, she raised her hand to swing at him: "You pervert!"
Elias easily caught Raina’s wrist with his hand.
His coarse thumb seemed to have a mind of its own, stroking the skin on the inside of her wrist, its fine texture like the finest silk, making it irresistible.
"Get in the car." Seeing Raina about to refuse again, Elias said casually: "Don’t think about using this opportunity to complain to grandma."
Raina suddenly understood: "Don’t worry, I wouldn’t be so disloyal, I already have plans for tonight."
Elias’s brows furrowed slightly, and he tightened his grip on Raina’s wrist.
Raina instinctively resisted, but only for a moment before she realized and relaxed, letting the man push her into the car.
"Hey..."
"Hey..."
Hearing the sighs at the side that twisted like a winding mountain road, Elias couldn’t help it anymore: "What’s wrong?"
Raina said softly: "Nothing. Hey..."
The veins at Elias’s temples bulged, and he said in a dangerous tone: "Raina, do you really think that with my grandma backing you, you can do whatever you want?"
