CHAPTER 48: CHAPTER 48: BROTHERS COMPETING FOR FAVOR (2)
The movements were so gentle.
Casper North instantly turned into a sour lemon spirit.
He glared fiercely at the provocative look from his cheap brother.
Mommy’s embrace was his.
Go away!
In the darkness, Casper North silently roared like a little lion with its mane bristled up.
But Baby Hawthorne just glanced at him coldly, that contemptuous attitude painfully piercing Casper’s little pride.
He jumped up angrily, ready to kick this brat who invaded his territory out.
Raina North was deep in a sweet dream, suddenly shaken, her brow immediately furrowed, but she didn’t open her eyes.
"Casper North, what’s all the yelling about in the middle of the night? Keep it up, and you’ll sleep in the silly husky’s kennel!"
The Mythic Beast’s Arm struck again, this time adding a foot.
Casper’s grape-like eyes were scarlet.
But he didn’t dare to move.
His sister Raina meant what she said.
He didn’t want to sleep in the silly husky’s kennel.
Raina was completely unaware of the invisible flames of battle igniting quietly in the night.
Nor did she know her unconscious actions had caused such a big misunderstanding.
She was just like countless other nights, with Casper on the left, Shea on the right.
Seeing the room finally quieted down, she pulled up the quilt, covered the two little ones snugly, shifted to a comfortable position, and drifted off sweetly once more.
Raina slept with a satisfied smile, even snoring softly.
Yet, the other two little ones on the bed couldn’t go back to sleep.
The first ray of morning sunlight streamed through the gauzy window, casting a golden glow.
Raina opened her eyes with satisfaction, looking down at the little Baby Hawthorne in her arms, the little one curled up, his tiny hand clutching the edge of her pajamas, sleeping soundly, his small face rosy and inviting.
Raina couldn’t resist giving him a couple of kisses.
Carefully prying open his small hand, she turned her head to pull the quilt up on Casper and gave him a kiss before tiptoeing out of the room.
Click, the door closed.
The two little ones on the bed immediately opened their eyes.
Casper glared fiercely at his cheap brother who was competing for family status: "Don’t be smug, Mommy just pities you, that’s why she kissed you one more time, I’m the one she loves the most."
Baby Hawthorne gave a sidelong glance at Casper bristling in anger, and unhurriedly got up from the bed.
"Who are you? Why do you call my mom Mommy?"
His grape-like eyes the same as Casper’s were full of inquiry, that sharp, calm face sleek yet serious as if The Hell King Hawthorne had possessed him.
"I’m Mommy’s real child. And you are too, only you were snatched by an evil witch when you were born. You know, that evil witch is really bad, she stole Mommy’s home and man, causing her to get into a car crash and almost die..."
Casper recounted the whole story, he believed anyone worthy to be his brother wasn’t a fool, they would have to team up in the future to protect Raina, and drive the bad witch away.
"...So that’s roughly how it is, according to the order of arrival, you have to call me Big Brother."
Casper would never admit that this smug little brat was his big brother.
Feeling sorry for Mommy and giving a bit was fine, but the title of Big Brother couldn’t be given up.
"Kid, be good, call me Big Brother and let me hear it."
Casper propped up his leg in a carefree manner, grinning smugly.
But Baby Hawthorne didn’t pay attention at all, leaped off the bed, and thump thump thump, ran out.
Raina was making breakfast for the two little ones, suddenly held from behind.
Turning around, seeing it was Baby Hawthorne, she softened her voice immediately: "Bobby, you’re awake? Did you sleep well? Are you hungry?"
