CHAPTER 721: 【715】BEAST WORLD FARMING 25 (3 MORE)
Tangtang was heartbroken by everything he did for her. Although she didn’t get to eat any of it, she still washed the remaining abalone and various shellfish in the basket with mountain spring water, then grilled them on a plate. She had originally planned to sift sand through them and eat them tomorrow, but seeing how much Pan Lin enjoyed them, she decided to feed him until he was full.
The basket of seafood seemed ample, but actually, the shells amounted to more than the meat. Without waiting for Jin Han and Yin Ye to return, he, a snake, finished it all.
After eating, still unsatisfied, he stuck out his tongue. When he realized that the seafood, which the little female had gathered with difficulty, was all eaten by himself, he looked at her with an apologetic face—
Tangtang poured water into the tile jar to make soup, the flow rate of the mountain spring water barely sufficed for their consumption, so the water she had collected during her outing was just enough for washing and boiling.
After setting the water, she slightly pulled out some firewood to reduce it to a low flame, then bent down and patted Pan Lin’s head.
"Silly, you need to eat well to get better. Don’t mind it. There’s plenty more by the sea. I’ll just go dig more, and while it’s still dark, I’ll make another trip. You wait here for the two of them to come. Don’t let the fire die, it’s too troublesome to restart. I’ll be back quickly!"
Pan Lin was uneasy about her going alone, and Tangtang pointed towards the seaside.
"You can see me from here. If there’s any trouble, I’ll signal you."
Only then did Pan Lin let her go down.
Since it was on a cliff, she had to climb down using the vines, but luckily, although she was female and born into the Diao Clan, she had agility.
After easily coming down from above, she headed straight for the dense bed of oysters on the rocks. This time, she was smart enough to use a stone knife directly to pry the oysters open and collected the meat into the tile jar. During this process, she even gathered quite a few pearls—a pleasant surprise indeed.
To open the oysters, she stubbornly sat there and removed all the large oysters on the rock she was sitting on, collecting a whole tile jar full of oyster meat.
Noticing sea urchins in a shallow water pit, she switched to another tile jar to start on the sea urchins. She fetched the fresh sea urchins and directly put their roe into the jar to save herself the trouble of carrying so many items back with little to eat.
She was engrossed in her gathering when she sensed some movement behind her. Turning her head, she saw Jin Han and Yin Ye diving from the sky, landing on the sandy beach behind her.
Seeing the two of them return, Tangtang happily waved at them. They walked over and were curious about what she had collected.
"Can this be eaten?"
"Of course, it can be eaten. You guys help as well. It’s getting dark; we need to prepare some food. Jin Han, will you leave tomorrow?"
As it was already late, Jin Han wouldn’t be much help even if he went back, so he thought of leaving at dawn tomorrow. Hence, when Tangtang suggested this, he nodded in agreement.
With their help, opening the sea urchins became faster, and during this process, Yin Ye also marveled at the wonders of Tangtang’s personal space.
After filling one pot and taking out another, how could it not be miraculous?
However, she didn’t hide it from him, letting him feel trusted and naturally, he was delighted.
As for Pan Lin, he had noticed Tangtang’s magical abilities when she had fed him earlier, but one didn’t speak, and the other didn’t ask.
And given his current situation, communication was inconvenient, so by this moment, the three Beastmen had truly bonded with Tangtang.
While Yin Ye was helping to process the sea urchins, sea snails, sea clams, and crabs, Jin Han had already transformed into the sharp-eagle of the Eagle Clan and gone fishing above the sea.
When the sky had completely dimmed, they finally finished gathering, and by then, Jin Han had caught a few sea eels and two large octopuses.
The significant size of the sea eels and octopuses astonished Tangtang. To facilitate carrying them, they had cleaned them on the spot by the sea, divided them into manageable sizes, and picked a few grains before happily returning home.
Pan Lin had been keeping the fire alive, ensuring it didn’t go out. The water in the tile jar had also come to a boil by the time they all flew up the cliff, and Tangtang then picked up Pan Lin.
"I’ll make something delicious in a bit, and you can have a little, okay?"
Later, because she needed to cook, she handed Pan Lin over to Yin Ye. Yin Ye already knew from Jin Han why Pan Lin had shrunk and was immensely grateful to him.
Under Tangtang’s direction, Yin Ye and Jin Han started another fire, mainly to steam rice. They first built a platform with clay bricks, making sure to leave a chimney for the smoke to escape, then hung the tile jar from horizontally placed bamboos using sturdy vines. They added the water Pan Lin had just boiled, along with some grains, covered it, and slowly simmered it over a low fire.
On a rock beside them, she brushed a layer of animal fat she had rendered earlier, then placed slices of octopus on it to fry, flipping them once they were nicely browned.
Since the seafood was naturally a bit salty, she didn’t use any seasonings. She simply fried while feeding the three drooling Beastmen. Naturally, she ate as well, feeding everyone until they were half-full with much of the octopus already consumed. By then, the tantalizing aroma of the rice emerged.
After opening the lid and checking, she saw the rice was cooked. She switched the pots, hanging up a new one. Likewise, adding water (the water dripped from three spots simultaneously), she then added the cleaned nori and sea snail and clam meat into the jar to slowly simmer over a low fire.
Meanwhile, Jin Han and Yin Ye had finished grilling the remaining half octopus and two sea eels.
While the seafood soup simmered, Tangtang served each person a bowl of rice, placing the grilled meat on the large stone at the center, urging everyone to eat their rice with the meat. Since she had already half-filled herself with grilled octopus slices earlier, she grabbed Pan Lin to continue feeding him.
Pan Lin had already caught the unique aroma of the rice and didn’t play coy with Tangtang. The other two Beastmen, having been active all day, were famished. Paired with the fragrant rice and the chewy octopus slices, they quickly polished off all the rice in the pot.
Watching them lick their lips with endless satisfaction, Tangtang chuckled, "Are you full? If not, you can share my bowl too."
All three Beastmen shook their heads in jest— after all, even if they weren’t full, they couldn’t compete with a female for food!
Just then, the seafood soup was ready. Even without any seasoning, the soup was deliciously aromatic when they tasted it.
It contained both vegetables and meat, not only exploding their taste buds but also deeply impressing them with the small female’s exceptional cooking skills.
Later on, they sat aside, grilling oysters, waiting for Tangtang, who leisurely finished her share of rice, grilled meat, and seafood soup.
After the oysters were grilled, Tangtang was full after having just two or three pieces. Pan Lin had eaten quite a bit earlier, so he didn’t have more than two pieces either. However, Jin Han and Yin Ye powerfully consumed most of her large pot’s stock, showcasing the allure of these oysters.
