CHAPTER 781: 【753】BEAST WORLD FARMING 63 (1 MORE UPDATE)_2

Tiantian and Jin Han found a place shielded from the wind to set up their little wooden hut. Carrying bamboo baskets on their backs, they began to snap corn in the cornfield.

The corn had turned yellow, ripe and ready; they could take it home to dry directly for threshing. The thought that they could finally get rid of the days of relying solely on hunting for their livelihood made her exclaim, "The rise of our Nandi Clan is coming! Grain fruit, wheat, corn, soybeans, sweet potatoes, potatoes, and other miscellaneous grains—goodness, we are on the path to prosperity! With food and the technology to smelt metals, who could be stronger than us?"

"It’s all thanks to your blessing, isn’t it? Come on, you take a break, and I’ll do the work. Or you can cook instead."

Thinking Jin Han might be hungry, Tiantian took out a machete, gathered a bundle of corn stalks that had been snapped, found an open space, and moved the stove platform out of the wooden house. She planned to make tomato stewed meat because the meat needed to be marinated first, so while preparing it, she picked up a few ears of corn. The corn was dried reasonably well and could be milled.

Struggling to remove the kernels, she then took out a small graphite plate and ground it into corn grits. Then she used a sieve made from a special, very fine and hard animal silk that Pan Lin had found, which could filter out the larger particles, leaving a relatively fine grain.

Afterwards, she boiled hot water to scald the cornmeal.

As the tomato stewed meat began to simmer, she pressed the scalded cornmeal to the edge of the iron pot—this was the famous Northeast Earth Potstickers.

Once the aroma of the food wafted through the air, she shouted at the top of her voice, "Ah Han, dinner’s ready!"

The island had mountain springs, and she had placed two water tanks in the wooden hut for domestic use. Hearing her call, Jin Han came over with the bamboo basket.

"You could have just left it there; I’d pick it up later. Why bother bringing it over yourself?"

As Jin Han washed his hands, he said, "There’s a mountain above with a not-so-small cave entrance, a natural karst grotto. Can your space fit all this corn? After all, we stored tomatoes and grapes before, so there shouldn’t be much room left, right?"

Tiantian sighed, "Yeah, but I can’t bear to let this corn rot here. So what do you think I should do? Should we go back? How long would it take us to make the round trip?"

"It’s a twenty-day journey there and back to our Nandi Clan, no matter how you slice it."

"Twenty days? We could do so much work in twenty days! And with the Cold Season coming, no, we can’t go back."

"There’s only one thing left to do. These things won’t spoil anytime soon. If we leave them outside, exposed to wind and rain, they will definitely mold and spoil. But if we move them to the grottoes, and find an opportunity to transport them later, we should be able to collect everything before the Cold Season."

Tiantian nodded vigorously, as if pounding garlic, "You’re right, we’ll do it that way. I haven’t seen that karst grotto you talked about; take me to have a look later."

There was no denying it, the meat stewed with tomatoes was delicious, especially the Earth Potstickers, crispy and chewy. Eating them, one could taste the sweet flavor of corn, so it was no wonder Tiantian was so anxious about this corn—it was indeed worth their ordeal.

After dinner, Tiantian washed the pots and dishes while Jin Han continued to work. An hour later, she also got everything tidy and joined in the work; the pair worked until evening.

Tangtang made tomato dumpling soup with the leftover scalded dough from lunch. They ate and drank their fill, and right as it got dark, they had finished tidying up.

With the night falling so early, and not feeling sleepy, and with the seaside waves being broad, they went to check out the grotto.

Navigating through the cornfield in the dark and climbing through the woods, they ascended a good two to three hundred meters and, as expected, came across a huge cave.

Before entering the cave, they lit torches because Pan Lin had previously explored and had an idea about the inside.

"It’s very slippery; be careful."

This grotto had not been mined by humans, so naturally, there were no stairs or smooth paths, and everything was uneven with pits and bumps.

Just one glance was enough to confirm that this was a natural limestone karst cave, winding downwards. They did not know how deep after walking about a hundred meters or so. She quickly spotted three or four locations suitable for storing goods. She efficiently released the day’s harvest and placed their wooden hut on the flat ground by the entrance.

The wind and waves were too loud by the sea and unfit for sleeping. The grotto had airflow without any particular smell, and the area by the door was not damp, so she chose to rest here for the night.

"Are there other creatures on this island?"

Jin Han nodded, "There are some marine creatures by the sea because of the Beastmen activities. Up here, for now, we haven’t found any. As you’ve seen, besides this cave, there are the woods and corn; nothing else. Without prey, there’s no suitable environment for survival."

Tiantian grinned, "That’s good; otherwise, we would have to leave some for them. But looking at this situation, we can’t harvest all at once. Let’s take a few and leave one, keep some seeds, so they can grow in patches next year."

They couldn’t eradicate everything in one go, just in case some animals fed on it!

Although the grotto was safe, there were creatures like bats that Tiantian feared, so she still lit a bonfire. Jin Han slept at the hut’s entrance to guard her. In truth, she needn’t have worried since, with Jin Han’s current strength as a Five-Patterned Beast, ordinary animals would dare not approach, so the fire was extinguished after she fell asleep.

As the black night filled with silence, only her faint breathing could be heard—

"Oblivious you, when will you wake up to reality?"

Standing guard over his female without being able to do anything, Jin Han felt hurt, frustrated, and all the more tormented. But his respect for and acceptance of her surpassed all his emotions...
