CHAPTER 783: 【754】BEAST WORLD FARMING 64 (2 MORE UPDATES)_2
With only two days left, Jin Han specifically caught over a hundred large lobsters for the lobster-loving Tiantian before hurrying back with a space full of supplies.
When the two of them flew back to the tribe, they found it stacked full of wheat sheaves. The wheat was collected and spread out on the ground to bask in the sunlight, while the straw could be used as fodder for livestock or woven into mats for shelter from the wind and rain during the Cold Season. It had many uses, so the Beastmen had brought it all back.
Tiantian, excited to be home, asked them, "When did you go and retrieve these? You were quite fast! Have you brought everything back?"
Yin Ye saw her dusty from the trip, not even having had the chance to drink water, yet she was concerned about the wheat. He couldn’t help but go over and stroke her head.
"Tired, aren’t you? Rest first, we’ll cook, and then we can talk in detail."
Lili saw her sister’s dirty appearance and couldn’t help but laugh. She hurried to boil water, and to ensure warmth, she even specially heated the kang bed. She let Tiantian take a hot bath in her pool, and after draining the water, Lili refilled it with clean water before Tiantian emerged clean and refreshed.
Jin Han also emerged looking refreshed. Lili had already prepared the meal and the Beastmen gathered around the stone table, with the little ones squatting on the ground in a circle. Tiantian looked around and noticed someone was missing: "Where’s Pan Lin? Has he not come back yet?"
"He hasn’t. The Beastmen who delivered the prey mentioned that they would return before the blizzard arrives,"
It had already entered the Cold Season, and though the snow hadn’t started, the weather grew colder by the day.
"The wheat was brought back by all the Beastmen of our tribe working together, including digging for lotus roots, transporting grain fruit and Stinky Fruit, excavating sweet potatoes, cutting sugarcane. Many hands make light work, so everyone acted together and then distributed the spoils based on numbers. The females also worked hard weaving mats and drying food; they all were bustling about."
"Did you leave any seeds behind at the site?"
Lang Sen couldn’t help but laugh, "Don’t worry, the stuff, once fully dried, is especially brittle. Many seeds fell during transportation, and surely, more will sprout next year."
Tiantian nodded in satisfaction and then reported her and Jin Han’s harvests. When she told them that they planned to leave again tomorrow to bring back the remaining food, Yin Ye looked at Jin Han, slightly worried, "This back and forth will consume quite some time. What if a heavy snow falls?"
"That’s why we need to hurry back, then rush there again. I’ve calculated it; we need to make at least one more trip, and there may be leftovers. If the blizzard hits, I’ll have to abandon whatever is left. Regrettably, the space is limited."
This time she had brought back a third of the corn because other things were stored in the space, taking up room.
"At home, don’t be idle either. Drive more stakes into our yard and peel the corn. Tie the husks and hang them on the stakes, making sure to leave gaps between them. Cover the top with a mat like a cloak, and if it snows, wrap them all in mats."
Now that they had enough food at home, the challenge was to dry it properly. Thankfully, with the females’ help, the grains they had were almost all dried. Next, she needed to return and lead a meeting, teaching everyone how to consume these grains.
The corn wasn’t completely dry yet, so they started by hanging a portion to see if it would mold. If it didn’t, they would use the same method to dry it. If snow came, they would cover it, if not, they would uncover it. Even the sunlight in winter was much better than no sunlight at all.
That night, Tiantian cleared out the space, leaving only the frequently used items and some firewood in the wooden house.
At the first light of dawn, with everyone’s farewell, they left the tribe, ceaselessly flapping their wings towards the coast.
They hadn’t had time to visit the seaside this year and had found the grain fruit elsewhere. It was somewhat disappointing for Tiantian.
But with so little time each year, if she focused on one thing, she couldn’t on another. She could only see if there would be time to visit the seaside afterward.
Jin Han flew for seven or eight days nonstop (apart from meals and sleep) and finally reached the destination.
A few hundred pounds of corn remained, and to take all of it with them, they peeled corn husks throughout the night. They peeled so many husks and finally managed to cram the remaining corn into the space.
As soon as they finished, it began to snow. The two couldn’t afford to delay and hurried back. However, the blizzard grew fiercer, and without granting themselves rest, it still took eight or nine days to return to the tribe because the snow made flying much more difficult than on the way there.
Pan Lin also returned during this time. His efforts over the past year were not in vain, for he had advanced to a Seven-Patterned Beast!
"Is it for advancing that you only returned now?"
Pan Lin gazed earnestly at Tiantian, whom he hadn’t seen in a long time, and nodded.
"Just missing that opportunity, if I hadn’t ascended, I might have wasted another Cold Season. Thankfully, I succeeded. Tonight I’ll hibernate. It’s regrettable that I hardly spent time with you this Cold Season. Tiantian, you’ve worked hard."
Seeing her and Jin Han braving the blizzard to return, his heart ached. If not for everyone’s happiness, why would she endure such hardship?
Yet, she always felt that her hardship was nothing compared to theirs, not realizing that in all of Beast World, she was considered the most diligent, hardworking, and kind female.
He had broken through to Six Patterns last Cold Season and reached Seven Stripes this year, merely to ensure that no Beastman would ever have the opportunity to bully them again.
Moreover, a debt owed must be repaid in blood. Pan Lin was never one to be trifled with.
Especially since they had provoked this family’s only sore spot, well then, sorry, they deserved to await the retribution soon to come!
