Ye Huan was born in 1930. By 1940, or the 29th year of the Republic, she was ten years old.

Originally, Ye Huan’s life in the story was full of hardships and tragedies. Starting in the summer of 1942, a severe famine broke out in Henan, and Ye Huan, along with her family, embarked on a journey to escape the famine.

They were a large clan, including grandparents, uncles, aunts, along with her father and mother.

Her eldest brother, second brother, seventh brother, and ninth brother belonged to her eldest uncle’s family; Third Brother, Fourth Brother, Ye Huan, and Ye Yu were from her family; Fifth Brother, Sixth Brother, eighth brother, and tenth brother were from her uncle’s family.

There were twelve children just in Ye Huan’s generation, plus eight elders, making it a total of twenty people.

However, after the war started, Ye Huan’s eight brothers gradually joined the military. During the famine year, only ten-year-old Ye Huan, six-year-old Ye Yu, four-year-old ninth brother, and three-year-old tenth brother remained at home. The large Ye Family home was left with just her and Ye Yu, the two young girls.

The Ye Family members were simple and kind-hearted; the elders were entirely devoted to the children. The brothers, when they were home, were very good to her and Ye Yu. Yet, being born in an era of war, sacrifices were inevitable.

Before the famine, her eldest and second brothers had already been lost; the whereabouts of Third Brother and Fourth Brother were unknown, and the rest of her brothers were scattered in different military units without any news all year round.

Forced by the famine, the Ye Family took to the road to escape, but along the way, grandparents, uncles, and aunts starved to death one after another, and she lost contact with her aunt, uncle, and tenth brother during an enemy air raid. Her parents, carrying her, her little sister, and ninth brother, stumbled forward. However, hunger forced them into destitution, swelling their stomachs. To let her and her little sister survive, their parents tearfully sold them.

Having been sold, they at least had food to eat. Even knowing what kind of life awaited them, they had no choice, because it was the only way to cling desperately to life.

Ye Huan and Ye Yu, being girls and even though not very attractive, were sold for two liters of millet. After tearfully parting from their parents, the sisters started their lives as slaves.

Because they were young and not yet fully developed, the traffickers decided to raise them first: they had to work and also learn to sing songs. The first few years were the hardest. By the time she was fifteen, Ye Huan was sold and transferred to Shanghai and became a lowly prostitute; her sister went to Nanjing.

Though the sisters were not far from each other, they never had the chance to meet again.

Still, she tried every way to find out what happened to her family and learned with relief that her parents had taken ninth brother back to their hometown to start over. Ye Huan could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Yet, she could not endure past thirty years old, even though she had bought her freedom in her last few years and didn’t dare to return home, knowing she didn’t deserve to. Fortunately, before she died, she saw her Fourth Brother who had become a company commander, whereas Third Brother and Fifth Brother had sacrificed their lives, and the whereabouts of Sixth, Seventh, Eighth Brothers and Ye Yu were unknown. Despite Ye Huan’s reluctance, she had no life left to find out more.

The plot was simple, seemingly without any twists, but having watched "1942," Tangyuan knew that whether selling daughters or the road to escape the famine, both were extremely horrifying. But this was caused by historical reasons, and no one could do anything about it, especially since it’s still unclear whether the Henan famine was man-made or a natural disaster, with three million common folk dead, and history’s depiction is only the tip of an iceberg.

Having drawn prizes ten times in the "space," she used up ten thousand Faith Value and finally won a piece of land.

This meant that in this life, her space came with one piece of land; no matter how much she upgraded, she would only have that one piece of land.

After planting, it would yield three fruits; sprinkling one radish seed would produce three radishes, a one-to-three ratio.

Because of the drawing, she was left with ten thousand Faith Value after splurging ten thousand on the ten draws—quite the expensive endeavor!

The task left by the original protagonist in this world was to deviate from the main storyline (the road to escape famine) and change the fate of the female protagonist, guiding the whole family toward prosperity.

What was left now was up to her to manage, especially since she wanted Merit Value and Faith Value; she definitely had to push herself to do good deeds.

And what’s the prerequisite for doing good deeds? Obviously, she must first become strong herself; only with sufficient capabilities could she help others.
