?Chapter 1203:

Freya opened her mouth to protest, but Ellis cut in, his voice gentle yet pointed. “Or are you saying you don’t want to marry me?”

“If I wasn’t serious about marrying you, I wouldn’t have gotten down on one knee,” Freya said, her tone firm but warm. She knew he was tugging at her heartstrings, but did he have to throw in everything he owned?

Locke’s eyes widened in shock. “Got down on one knee?” Freya and Ellis both turned to him, surprised by the outburst.

Locke, practically bursting with curiosity, leaned in. “You mean that kind of proposal?”

    Ellis smirked, unfazed. “Jealous?”

“I thought you were the one proposing,” Locke said, scratching his head. “I remember you talking about your big n.”

Ellis’s lips curved into a grin. “We were on the same wavelength. Proposed to each other the same day. Got a problem with that?”

Locke shook his head quickly. “Nope, no problem at all.”

He added, unable to resist, “But how exactly did you two pull it off?”

Ellis leaned back, his voice warm with pride. “That video you kept sharing online? That was our proposal. Freya and I nned the fireworks and drones together. The meteor shower? That was my little touch.”

Locke’s jaw practically hit the floor. Wait. What did he just say? Locke’s mind waspletely blown. That breathtaking proposal—the one that lit up social media—was Freya’s doing too? He couldn’t hold back. “Ms. Briggs, if you ever need a secretary to keep your day sparkling, I’m your guy.”

Ellis and Freya both froze, stunned by his boldness.

Ellis’s eyes narrowed. “What exactly are you getting at, Locke?”

Locke, realizing he’d overstepped, scrambled to recover. “I didn’t mean it like that,” he said, panic creeping in.

His joking nature had gotten him into hot water again. How did that slip out? Locke quickly recovered. “I just meant… your taste in partners is spot-on, as always.”

Freya tilted her head, curious. “His taste?”

Locke grinned, regaining hisposure. “He always said he wanted someone who could look out for him. Seems like he found his match.”

Being looked out for, being proposed to—now that was definitely what he should have led with.

He wanted that life too. That was enviable!

Freya, feeling a need to set the record straight, spoke up. “I proposed because I love him and wanted him to know it.”

Ellis’s heart warmed, like sunshine breaking through clouds. Loving someone was a gift, but being loved back? That was pure magic.

Locke, watching their connection, felt a pang of envy. He’d seen plenty of rich couples fall in love, but none with this kind of spark. No wonder Ellis had passed on so many others—his heart had always been Freya’s.

“In that case, Ms. Briggs, go ahead and sign this,” Locke said gently, well aware that once this was done, he could proceed with the legal paperwork. “You and Mr. Lambert are getting married soon. Whose name the properties are under doesn’t really matter.”
