CHAPTER 1633: EPIDEMIC? (8)
When I was done explaining, it seemed like King Kashou was still a bit confused about all of this.
But at the same time, it seemed like he was slowly starting to understand what the situation was.
Though that didn’t persuade him to stop grabbing at the scarf one more time.
When his hand went through, he finally seemed like he lost interest in the scarf and went to sit back down.
The other demi humans didn’t give up that easily as they still stood around the merman with the scarf in his hand. The merman looked at me with an awkward look, so I just gave him a nod and he placed the scarf back on the table.
After that, the two princesses and two ministers continued trying to pick up the scarf from the table.
"Alright, I understand where you’re coming from. But I saw that you had other methods as well, didn’t you? Why can’t you give us a few of those?" King Kashou didn’t seem like he was planning on giving up just yet.
I had expected this.
It wasn’t because I thought that he was stubborn, it was that I knew that he was thinking about his country and his people that he was asking this. It wasn’t good for him to let people from different races walk through the territory of the demi humans after all.
"There’s holy magic that also works on corruption energy, but that’s not something that can be taught that easily. The only ones that can use holy magic are those from the Holy Empire who follow the gods." I slowly explained to King Kashou.
He once again slightly knitted his brows when he heard this.
As the king, he naturally knew about the different human countries that were out there and he knew that the Holy Empire was one of the four human empires.
If he allowed them to walk around their land, then there was no difference than letting the other races move through their lands. So in the end, it was the same if they were to turn to the Holy Empire for help.
"What about the others? As you said, not everyone uses holy magic." King Kashou suddenly asked.
I gave a nod to confirm this before saying, "Well, they either get buffed by holy magic or use holy water. The buff from holy magic doesn’t last long enough to explore many places in search of the corruption energy, so holy water would be your only choice."
King Kashou’s eyes lit up for a second, but then he realized that there was something wrong with what I said.
Seeing the way that he looked at me as if he was pressing me for more, I continued by saying, "The simple fact is that holy water isn’t that strong. It can purify normal corruption energy, but the degree of corruption energy in your kingdom..."
I narrowed my eyes to look at him before continuing, "The fact that it’s reached the point where it can even affect your people like this, it’s clear that there’s something different about this corruption energy. It’s hard to estimate just how concentrated and strong it is after being ignored for so long."
King Kashou narrowed his eyes to look at me, but I didn’t back down as I met his gaze.
The two of us just silently looked at each other like this for a while before he finally said with a sigh, "Then what do you want us to do?"
I just calmly said, "I’ve already given my opinion, but this isn’t my decision to make. The reason that I called this meeting is simply to report these matters and present my opinion on these matters. The decision is completely yours to make."
King Kashou silently looked at me again for a bit longer before he suddenly revealed a bitter smile and shook his head to say, "What do you want me to do about this? At this point, it really seems like there’s no other choice."
I couldn’t help being a bit caught off guard by how forward he was, but I still said, "It’s your decision to make."
King Kashou didn’t respond as he looked at the ministers.
They had stopped trying to grab the scarf and had been listening to everything.
When they saw King Kashou looking over, they couldn’t help revealing strange looks at first. But eventually they slowly nodded in agreement as if they were acquiescing to whatever was about to happen.
King Kashou gave another sigh before saying, "There will have to be rules."
I didn’t hesitate as I said with a nod, "That’s right, this is your country after all. We are outsiders, so it’s only natural that we will follow your rules."
But then after a pause, I added, "It’s just that I hope that you will understand that too many restrictions will make it hard for us to do what is necessary."
King Kashou narrowed his eyes to look at me again when he heard this.
Once again, I didn’t back down as I matched his gaze and waited for him to speak.
In the end, he said, "Alright, I understand."
Standing up from his seat once more, he said, "I’ll make a formal request on behalf of the Mofu Mofu Kingdom to the racial alliance. Please help us deal with this matter of the corruption energy in our lands."
I stood up as well after he said this and with a serious look, I said, "I have been given full authority on behalf of the racial alliance in this matter."
After I said this, there were a few people that looked at me with strange looks.
However, none of them said anything in the end since what I said was technically true.
It was just that the countries behind them wished that this wasn’t the case.
I ignored them as I continued by saying, "We welcome you to our racial alliance in the fight against the corruption energy and the forces of Destruction."
I reached my hand out towards him after saying this.
With a wide smile on his face, King Kashou took my hand and shook it while laughing.
