CHAPTER 1635: SETTING TARGETS

"Are you sure about this? It doesn’t seem like this is the right place."

As they read the report that they took from me, I could see the looks of doubt that were in their eyes.

I didn’t blame them since I would have had the same reaction as them if I hadn’t noticed something else.

The place that I was interested in was nothing more than a medium sized settlement.

It was even better to call it a village than a town since this was a place that was in the middle of nowhere. It was a gathering spot for the villages that were around the town, but there just weren’t enough people that lived there for it to really be considered a town.

This really didn’t seem like a place where the corruption energy would gather.

"If you look closely, you’ll see that there’s something strange about the number of people that were ill here."

Everyone had confused looks when they heard this, but they still looked carefully at the report like I suggested.

But after a few minutes, it was clear that they couldn’t see what I was talking about.

It really seemed like they were even more confused because they couldn’t see what I was talking about.

So I said, "Isn’t it strange that almost all of the people that are living in the area are ill? In the cases with the other places, it was only around half of the people that were ill."

"Huh?"

They still seemed confused when they heard this and they looked carefully at the reports again.

But even though they could see it, they didn’t really understand why it mattered.

Seeing the looks on their faces, I explained, "If all of the people are falling ill in the same place, that means that there’s a higher concentration of something that’s causing them to fall ill there. Since the corruption energy is the thing that’s causing this, doesn’t that mean that there’s more of it gathered in that area?"

I could see that some of them still had doubts, so I said, "If you look at the surrounding villages as well, you’ll see that there’s a higher rate of infection in those places as well."

Slowly, it seemed like all of them were understanding my point of view.

Though it was clear that there were certain people that still seemed to have their doubts on the matter.

But even if they had their doubts, they still chose to follow my intuition.

After all, it wasn’t as if they could find any better places to look.

"I’m sure that there will be other places like this as well. Look carefully and see if you can find them. When you do, mark them out on the map so we can see how the corruption energy is distributed."

Once I gave this order, there was no more time that was wasted as everyone started looking for what I told them to look for.

It didn’t take long for us to find a second place that was just like this one.

Then there was a third, a fourth, and a fifth...

It seemed like there were far more places than we thought that seemed to follow this same pattern.

In no time at all, we were able to find ten different places that all had the same pattern as this place.

Once we reached double digits, everyone looked at me with these looks of doubt once more.

I didn’t blame them either since something about this didn’t seem right either.

If there was this much corruption energy in the Mofu Mofu Kingdom, then something should have happened a long time ago. There should have been signs of things like the forces of Destruction invading the Mofu Mofu Kingdom.

But there wasn’t a single thing...

After thinking about it, I said, "Let’s take a look at the map. Perhaps there’s something that we missed."

"A pattern. There seems to be some kind of pattern to these locations." King Kashou suddenly spoke which made us all turn to look at him. We followed his gaze to see that he was looking at the map that had these places marked.

Then he said, "It seems to be some kind of circle."

Looking at the dots on the map, we slowly nodded in agreement since it really seemed like this was the case.

It seemed a bit off as there were some places that seemed to be missing in this circle, but it did take the general form of a circle.

Looking at it, I pointed at those places that were missing and asked, "Are there any settlements that are in these areas?"

The right minister took that role of finding the reports and handed it over to me.

After looking at them, I marked those locations off on the map as well to form a complete circle.

Now that all of the dots had been placed, it was clear that all of these dots did form some kind of circle.

It was just that we had no idea what this circle was for...

"What do you think?" King Kashou suddenly asked once I finished putting all the dots on the map.

I slowly shook my head to show that I didn’t know what to make of this before saying, "Without going to inspect the area, we really don’t know what is happening in these places based on the reports alone."

The right minister lowered his head before saying, "It’s my fault. I should have had them search the area more closely to see if there’s anything else that was there."

I just waved my hand at this before saying, "Even if you did, you wouldn’t have found anything. After all, it isn’t as if you would have been able to find anything since you would have no idea what to look for."

The right minister seemed more depressed, but there was nothing else that I could say.

Instead, I distracted him by saying, "Well, since we’ve found these places, we should take a closer look at them."

The others all agreed since they felt that there was something off about these places as well.

With that, we had set our targets.
