CHAPTER 1638: STRONG REACTION (1)

Well, it was better to say that there was corruption energy inside of this piece of metal.

It wasn’t that this piece of metal was releasing corruption energy, but rather it contained a large amount of it that was hard to keep in.

It was almost as if there was something that was about to burst any moment from this piece of metal in the ground.

After staring at it for a bit, I didn’t hesitate to point the Staff of Earth at it.

When I did, there was this layer of divine energy earth that formed around this piece of metal.

Only when this layer of divine energy earth surrounded it did the sensation of corruption energy coming from this piece of metal stop. It formed a protective layer that seemed to contain the corruption energy that was inside of the metal.

Other than this, I didn’t waste any time in creating a tunnel on either side of this hole.

After all, it was a straight piece of metal that was running through the ground. That meant that there was more of this piece of metal that was running through the ground under the village.

I had no idea just how much of this metal there was, but it wasn’t a good idea to leave it alone.

There was no doubt that this metal was the source of the corruption energy that was making these people sick.

When the holes were made, there was more of this piece of metal that was revealed.

But before following it, I asked King Kashou, "Do you have some pen and paper that we can use? Or do you have a map of this area that we can draw on?"

He gave a simple nod before pulling something out of his cloak.

I could see that there was a small bag that he was hiding under there.

After pulling them out, he seemed to realize something before saying, "Should I do the writing then?"

I gave a nod before turning back to focus on the hole in the ground.

Holding the Staff of Earth, I pointed at the hole that was in front of me.

But then I suddenly jumped up out of this hole.

King Kashou followed me with a confused look at first, but then he realized what I was doing and started following me while drawing on the piece of paper that he was holding.

The two of us started walking around the town with our heads looking down at the ground, with the Staff of Earth leading the way for us.

Because we were walking like this, we received quite a few strange looks from the people that were moving around the town, bringing supplies to the demi humans that were being cured.

It seemed like they were preparing for some kind of large celebration with all of the things that they brought, but I didn’t have time to focus on that.

That was because my attention was on something else, something that was under the ground.

It was a good thing that King Kashou was trusted enough that they didn’t stop us since we really couldn’t afford to be distracted right now. It was hard enough keeping track of what was happening under the ground just through the Staff of Earth.

But it wasn’t as if I would blame them for being suspicious of an outsider walking around their town like this.

Eventually, we arrived back at the hole that I had created in the first place.

Once we were back at this hole, I turned to look at King Kashou.

He knew what I was looking for, so he just turned the piece of paper that he had been drawing on to show me.

With the lines that he drew...

"It’s a circle around the town?" I asked in a confused voice.

King Kashou slowly nodded, but it seemed like he was just as confused as I was.

That was because after following the line of metal around for this long, the only thing that we found was that it took the form of a circle.

But it wouldn’t be just as simple as a circle if the forces of Destruction brought this metal all the way here and hid it under the ground.

"There must be more pieces hidden in the town." I slowly said after thinking about it.

King Kashou nodded in agreement when he heard this, but he had a concern, "But do you think that you’ll be able to find it. Unlike this large circle, what should be hidden in the town should be smaller pieces..."

When I heard this, I looked at him with a strange look before asking, "Based on what you said, it seems like you’re thinking the same thing as me."

King Kashou didn’t answer me right away as he just looked into my eyes after I asked this.

But after a while, he just answered with a simple nod.

With a sigh, I said, "Then there is one simple way to take care of this, even if it means giving up the chance to find out what this thing really is. I’ll leave the decision to you."

King Kashou knitted his brows when he heard this before turning to look at the demi humans that were in the square being treated.

After a long moment of silence, he slowly gave a nod and said, "Do it."

With that, I pointed the Staff of Earth at the sealed line of metal that was under the ground.

Even if this was metal, it was metal that contained corruption energy.

So if it was surrounded by the divine energy earth, then it should purify the corruption energy that was inside of it. Even if it did take a bit longer because of how concentrated the corruption energy inside of the metal was.

But the moment that I started actually attacking it...

"Monsters!"

When we turned in the direction that this voice came from, we saw that there were strange creatures that were appearing from the ground.
