CHAPTER 1640: STRONG REACTION (3)

Though the strange creatures were being destroyed, it didn’t seem like there was an end to them as more and more of them came out from the ground.

I knew that as well, which was why I had been using the Staff of Earth the entire time.

There was a source for the generation of these strange creatures, so I had to strike at the source.

As I was doing so, there were less and less of these strange creatures that were appearing from the ground. It seemed like whatever was generating them was slowly running out of energy, just like I planned.

Though it wasn’t as if I had stopped all of it yet.

At the same time, the strange creatures changed targets as time passed.

It seemed that they recognized that I was the one that was messing with their source of power, so they saw me as a bigger threat than anyone else here. They were targeting me so that I would stop what I was doing.

The problem was that Joan just stopped them from getting even remotely close to me.

With her divine energy flames, the strange creatures just didn’t stand a chance.

When these white flames hit them, they instantly dissipated into nothingness.

At the same time, the priests were also doing their part in clearing out the rest of the strange creatures that were far away from where I was.

But there was still one thing that I had to take care of.

While the strange creatures were coming out of the ground, I watched them carefully as they appeared.

After all, I had only discovered one part of the array that was under the ground.

There was no way that the array would just be the single circle that ran around the town, there would be other parts that were also hidden in the ground all around the town.

It wasn’t as if we had the time and ability to find them, which was why I had to use a different method.

It was related to where the strange creatures were spawning from.

"Follow me." I said to Joan all of a sudden.

Joan had been in the middle of releasing a flame breath, but she suddenly stopped and turned to follow me before releasing that flame breath. Those white flames ran past me and cleared out all of the strange creatures that were in my path.

It didn’t take long for me to arrive at one of the spots that the strange creatures were spawning from.

But even if this was the place that they were spawning from, that didn’t stop them from being wiped out by a single one of Joan’s flame breaths.

After they were wiped out, I tapped the Staff of Earth on the ground and closed my eyes.

It seemed like I wasn’t doing anything with the way that I was just standing there, but there was a reaction that came from around us. There were more of these strange creatures spawning and they spawned faster than before.

It was as if whatever was spawning them was reacting to something that I was doing.

Unfortunately for them, it wasn’t as if they could do anything against Joan’s flame breath.

So the strange creatures were all wiped out as soon as they appeared out of the ground.

After standing there with my eyes closed like this for a while, I finally opened them again and said, "It’s done, let’s move to the next spot."

I didn’t even wait for Joan or King Kashou to give a response as I continued forward.

Joan just did the same thing as before as she used her flame breath to clear the path in front of me.

King Kashou seemed confused about what I was doing at first, but then it seemed like he had figured it out.

Though he wasn’t able to do anything since he didn’t have a way of taking care of the strange creatures. So the only thing that he could do was watch from the side and wait for me to do everything.

After a while, it seemed that the rate of spawning for the strange creatures was completely slowing down.

Looking around at this, I said, "Alright, that should be the last one."

King Kashou let out a sigh of relief before asking, "Then what do we do now?"

"We wait until they run out of energy." I said while taking the time to relax.

I had already done my part after all, all that was left was to finish draining the corruption energy that was deep in the ground. After all, what I had done was used the Staff of Earth to seal up all the different parts of the array under the ground.

As for how I figured out where they were, it was all because of the spawning of the strange creatures.

The parts of the array that weren’t sealed off by the divine energy earth naturally spawned more of the strange creatures. As such, I looked for the area that had more of the strange creatures to find those parts before using the Staff of Earth to manipulate the dirt under me to seal those parts up.

With the divine energy earth seals in place, those pieces of the array slowly started losing their power. It was made even worse as they tried to summon more of these strange creatures.

After a certain point, it would reach a point where...

"They’ve finally stopped." King Kashou couldn’t help letting out a sigh of relief when he saw that the strange creatures stopped spawning.

But then he had to ask, "What about the things under the ground, have they been taken care of?"

I had caught my breath at this time, but I didn’t answer this question as I went to one of the spots that I had sealed.

Pointing the Staff of Earth down at the ground, there was a shaking that came from under the ground.

It didn’t take long before the ground in front of me broke apart.
