CHAPTER 169: MORE ALLIES.

Felix stood in the middle, with the newcomers surrounding him from the front and behind him.

"So... Who are you guys?"

They glanced at each other, not answering, but subtly spread out so there was no way for him to slip past.

But only the ones near the sinkhole did so, because the others behind clearly saw him coming out of the ground like a ghost.

So instead of keeping up their guard and being cautious, the ones behind him were more terrified.

"I’m Nicole. Who are you? And what is your affiliation?"

Nicole stepped forward and said, ready to launch an attack or guard himself depending on the man’s answer.

’My affiliation? What should I say?’, Felix thought what could be the right reply.

’If I say the two guilds and they turn out to be the six guilds, then they’ll attack me. If not, then the reaction’s unknown.’

’On the other hand, if I say I’m from the six guilds, then they may either attack me, or get deceived and I could act as a spy before launching an attack...’

He weighed his options—the Map skill marked them as white dots, meaning they were neutral. Whatever he said next would decide how they saw him.

For a better chance, he kept the Map skill open, to check their change in the dots’ colour as he was about to answer.

"My name’s Felix. I’m from the Six Guilds Alliance, a member of the Mad Wolves guild. What about you, which guild are you from?"

He pretended to be a member of the Mad Wolves guild, knowing from Steve that they were the largest numbered guild in Edenmont City.

The moment they heard his second line, everyone around him tensed up and brought forward their weapons.

The person in front of them had effortlessly killed two Rank 3 monsters and he even possessed strange abilities, which raised his level of danger despite looking so young.

"I’m sorry, Felix. But we’ll have to take you down.", Nicole stated with a sigh.

Before Felix could even process their reaction, excitement surged through him at the thought of the coming clash, wiping away all the careful analysis he’d done moments ago.

"No, wait... He’s lying!"

The silent Paul who had never got a chance to speak till now spoke for the first time, his tone assured.

"Huh?", Felix froze and realised his blunder as he forgot that he had even lied when he was getting ready to battle now.

"What do you mean, Paul? Are you saying his name isn’t Felix?", Warren asked in confusion as he held onto his sword.

"What’s happening?", Nicole remained in a combat stance as he side-eyed Paul.

"What?! No, no I’m really called Felix!", the silver-haired boy said honestly.

Paul stared hard at Felix for a few seconds before he shared his thoughts.

"I’m not sure about your name, but as a previous Executive of the Mad Wolves guild, I’m fairly familiar with its members."

He pointed his finger at the boy’s hair and continued.

"For someone with a hair colour that unique and those red eyes of yours which can be easily recognised in a crowd, I’m certain that you’re not a member of the Mad Wolves guild."

Paul’s words brought many reactions from the people around him.

Nicole narrowed his eyes in suspicion, Warren stared at Felix intently, Jenna just wished for things to calm down, while Felix rubbed his head with a sigh as he got caught.

"Well, sometimes I do forget I stand out. Can’t blame you guys for that."

Spreading his hands, he outright told them the truth without a worry.

Anyways, this group of people wouldn’t be able to harm him in a fight, he was sure of that.

"You’re right, I lied about being with the Mad Wolves. I’m actually from the Twilight Chaos guild, you must’ve heard of them, right?", Felix shrugged and corrected quickly.

"But my name’s really Felix. I’m not lying about that..."

Seeing their speechless faces, but sensing they’d eased up, he asked.

"So, I take it you’re not exactly on friendly terms with the Six Guild Alliance?"

Nicole glanced at Paul one last time, who gave him an affirming nod, then turned to Felix.

"That’s right. We used to be one of them, but now we have all left our guilds."

"We’re basically traitors to them.", Warren added, to which Nicole gave him a sharp look.

Felix wasn’t convinced with their direct reveal, so he asked curiously.

"May I ask why you all decided to leave? I mean, aren’t they quite strong? They also have the higher chance to win this guild war with their large force."

Nicole turned silent for a few seconds, so did the others, as they thought this boy didn’t know what was going on behind the scenes.

"Maybe you’ve heard of them, the Dark Guilds.", Nicole started with a gloomy face.

"If you’ve not, then think of a group of insane, murderous and evil people, who have ulterior motives for our city and its people."

Felix perked up when he heard their reason, his mind turning serious as he had frequently encountered the dark guilds during their evil acts.

Their involvement with the Underworld Arena, the dangerous incident at Wuller Town and the suspicious tent where he was caught and jailed for a few minutes.

There were also moments where he had indirectly gone against them, but the truth remained that the dark guilds were not an organisation that deserved to exist.

Felix truly wished he could turn them all into skill points if he ever met them.

"I’m familiar with the dark guilds. I also know that they’ve made some kind of an agreement or a deal with the six guilds. Is this about that?"

Nicole and others appeared surprised with the fast that this boy knew more than what they had expected.

Even they only got to know this recently after entering the dungeon, through rumors and speculations, but mostly from the mouth of the Mad Wolves guild leader Hythe Deklara who talked more than necessary when he led the meetings within his guild.

From their group, it was Paul and a few others who got to know about it first-hand.

As old friends despite being in different guilds, Paul shared the news with Nicole who agreed to leave the six guilds secretly.

After gathering a small group of people whose thoughts aligned with theirs, they didn’t hesitate to turn into traitors rather than becoming the dogs of the dark guilds who wanted to harm their city and its people.

"It seems we don’t have to explain everything to you, this makes it much more easier.", Nicole nodded as he looked at Felix into the eye and requested earnestly.

"For the sake of the peace and people of the Edenmont City, I ask you, no... I beg you to please bring us to your base.", Nicole suddenly bowed slightly, catching others off-guard before Paul too lowered his head.

"We have a lot of important information regarding the six guilds’ base, leaders, members, tactics etc. For the two guilds to win this guild wars, or atleast stop this stupid collaboration between the six guilds and the dark guilds, we requested you to guide us to your guild leader."

Warren, Jenna and the others stared at Nicole and Paul seriously, before they too lowered their heads slightly towards Felix without much care.

Staring at the group of people who were all bowing and pleading to him, Felix felt a newfound feeling of respect for them and he began to look at them in a better light.

’How could I’ve thought of them as skill points.... They’ll do more good being alive.’

Letting out a cough, he called out to them.

"Enough with the bowing, you didn’t have to do that. As a person living in Edenmont city, it’s also my duty to protect its well being. So I completely understand your reasons."

As they got up one by one, Felix smiled at them and stated firmly.

"Come on, guys. I’ll take you all to our base. We’ll have those dark guild’s people know what’s coming for them."
