Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons
Chapter 136: Entering the Dungeon
CHAPTER 136: CHAPTER 136: ENTERING THE DUNGEON
Early morning.
Kane and his team left the inn early and headed towards the dungeon entrance. Today was the day they would enter the dungeon.
There were many explorer teams entering the dungeon in the morning, and a long line had formed at the entrance. None of the explorers here were at a level lower than the copper threshold.
The largest building around the dungeon wasn’t the office of the Mist Council, but a massive hospital at the back.
Even while Kane and his team were queuing, they could occasionally see wounded being transported from the entrance to the hospital.
After all, the death rate in the dungeon was now higher.
It wasn’t just the increased difficulty but also the sinister intentions of their peers.
Such things, even the Mist Council couldn’t resolve. After all, once inside the dungeon, nobody could control them.
Kane watched as the explorers ahead of him in line placed 10 Mist Coins on a table.
"What’s that for?"
"That’s buying a life." The answer to Kane didn’t come from his teammate but from a werewolf standing upright in front of him.
"What do you mean?"
The werewolf explorer seemed rather enthusiastic.
"Because this dungeon offers only one chance to exit, leading to a very high death rate, the Mist Council has urgently dispatched a batch of Town Recall Scrolls for sale here."
"Oh, I see. Thanks, mate."
Kane knew that Town Recall Scrolls were crucial items capable of leaving the dungeon anytime, anywhere, produced from a special dungeon. In theory, if they were dungeon products, they would soon be depleted.
However, the dungeon that produced the Town Recall Scrolls had become an Eternal Dungeon after being controlled by someone, no longer disappearing due to energy consumption.
So thereafter, Town Recall Scrolls became an expensive consumable, available for purchase at few places, and with a side effect that once used in a dungeon, that dungeon could never be completed again.
Kane recalled that the eternal dungeon producing the scrolls was called something like a camp.
The line slowly advanced, and it was finally Kane’s team’s turn.
"Do you need a Town Recall Scroll? 10 Coins per scroll. One per person."
"Yes, our team has five people. We’ll buy five scrolls."
The staff then handed over the Town Recall Scrolls to everyone.
Kane looked at the Town Recall Scroll in his hand and had an inexplicable sense of déjà vu.
The scroll was rolled up like a piece of parchment, bound with a blue ribbon in the middle.
After putting away the scroll, they continued forward.
The dungeon entrance was surprisingly located on a tomb.
It was hard to understand how on such a deserted island, there could be a tomb, and someone had even erected a stone tablet.
They stood on the tomb ahead of them.
In an instant, everything went black, and Kane’s squad disappeared from the tomb.
When the total darkness faded away.
Kane and his team had already arrived on a floating platform under a starry sky.
Looking around at the starry sky, this platform was directly over the Star River.
The brilliant Star River made Kane’s team take several extra glances.
After averting their gaze, Kane was the first to dive into the Mist Gate.
The sky of this dungeon was no longer blue skies and white clouds but a deep night sky, with no moonlight; the only light source was the twinkling stars above.
Kane and his team stood outside a dilapidated gate, with the surrounding wall battered and even collapsed, and the closed iron gate rusted and leaning to the side.
Peering into the entrance, it was densely packed with gravestones of various sizes and shapes.
Not far away, ghostly blue flames could be seen floating about.
The whole air was filled with a faint stench of decay.
Various plants and trees had a twisted, sinister black appearance, with cold winds blowing everything around, casting grizzly shadows on the ground, accompanied by faint wailing sounds.
There should have been at least two other teams that appeared with Kane’s team in this dungeon.
It seems the landing points are not the same.
Meizike began distributing the Holy Light Potions he had prepared long ago, two bottles per person, with the promise of more if needed.
These preparations were made once Meizike learned they would be coming to a place like this.
Then, four Potion Bottles containing white particles floated up. Under Meizike’s control, the white particles wrapped around everyone.
"Protection Against Evil," Meizike briefly introduced his new product.
After the white particles attached to everyone’s bodies, they disappeared, and Kane and his team could only vaguely sense something enveloping them.
Kreya and Longbei placed the Holy Light Potions in the most accessible positions for emergencies.
After all, their current weapons had inherent Holy Light Damage.
On the other hand, Kane employed his usual method of pouring the Holy Light Potion on a construct he had just created, maintaining its existence until needed when it could transform into various weapons with the Holy Light Damage attribute.
As for Lilu, she started performing her incredible Fairy Tale Magic again.
Lilu suspended two bottles of Holy Light Potion in the air, then took out her magic staff and pointed at them: "Play to your heart’s content."
The rainbow-colored light enveloped the potion bottles.
When the light faded.
The two bottles of Holy Light Potion turned into two butterflies emanating a milky white glow, flitting around Lilu, their fluttering milky white wings occasionally shedding some white radiance.
As expected, Lilu, your special effects never cease to amaze me.
Kane silently remarked in his heart.
But it also indirectly proved how powerful and unreasonable Lilu’s magic was.
Kane once asked Lilu how to improve her magic and learn more.
And her answer was, "I don’t know. I just have to play with all my heart and be happy, bring laughter to more people, make more friends, then I naturally learn more magic."
It was an enigmatic mix of absurdity and logic.
With these thoughts in mind, Kane slowly refocused on the dungeon.
The strategy for clearing this dungeon first involved finding the entrance to deeper graves within the cemetery.
Then, in the underground crypt, continue searching to proceed further down, clearing each layer.
Until the boss at the end was encountered.
As for how many layers there were, nobody could clearly say.
In earlier explorations, the floor where the boss was located was the 4th.
While the team that cleared it last week found the boss on the 8th floor.
The way to determine was, the only chance to leave the dungeon occurred just past the halfway point in floors.
Increased difficulty marked by the red label dungeon, and along with interference from other explorers, Kane and his team needed to be extremely vigilant.
Having organized the team’s formation, Kane and his group began to cautiously push forward.
