Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons
Chapter 143 Reunion
CHAPTER 143: CHAPTER 143 REUNION
After defeating the pack of hounds trailing behind, Kane was a bit out of breath.
He began to gather his spoils of war.
But upon sensing a magic power reaction from afar, he instantly grew alert.
"Don’t panic, friend, we mean no malice."
A group of explorers, clad in simple armor and adorned with various animal pelts and heads, emerged.
They slightly raised their hands to show Kane they harbored no malice.
Kane furrowed his brows, not letting down his guard: "Who are you?"
The team of explorers stood where they were, not advancing, maintaining a relatively safe distance from Kane.
A brawny man with a shaved head, tattoos on his face and scalp, and two battle axes hanging from his waist stepped forward, appearing to be the leader of the group.
"We are explorers from the ’Fury’ expedition team. We saw the triggered teleportation trap at the entrance and wanted to ask if you, alone, needed help."
"No need." Kane turned away, and with a few flashes, vanished from the spot.
As Kane left without looking back, the brawny man stood there, sighing with a hint of regret.
"What a pity. I wanted to invite him to join our expedition team."
Beside him, a wild girl dressed in shamanic attire tapped him with her wooden staff.
"Use your brain. In this dungeon, explorer teams are in competition. He’s alone; how could he trust us enough to communicate? Even though he’s strong, an explorer’s caution cannot be underestimated."
The brawny man knew this, just felt a little pity: "We’ll have to see if we can meet him outside the dungeon. It seems we need to put more effort into clearing this dungeon."
After Kane left, he confirmed the group of explorers hadn’t followed and circled back, continuing in the direction of the thread.
Now that he knew the direction of his teammates, reuniting with the team was the top priority.
Keeping a balanced speed, he pressed on continuously.
"Peek!"
Suddenly hearing Cotton Candy’s call, Kane immediately stopped and looked up at the night sky.
In the starry sky, shimmering starlight revealed a faint white cloud flying towards Kane.
Cotton Candy dashed straight down, bumping into Kane’s arms, frantically rubbing against his face, while continuously calling out.
"Alright, alright, you found me, didn’t you? I didn’t mean to."
It was the first time Cotton Candy had been away from Kane for so long, constantly protesting to Kane.
Subsequently, Kane began communicating with Cotton Candy, asking how it found him.
After Kane personally hatched it, they formed a contract, and Cotton Candy used the faint sensing from their bond to determine Kane’s direction.
It also mentioned hovering in the air, not being teleported away.
After rubbing Cotton Candy, Kane sat directly on it, having it carry him, floating in the direction of his vision.
This way, he could avoid being harassed by the undead creatures on the ground and travel at full speed.
Sitting atop Cotton Candy, flying under the night sky, Kane began identifying the magic items that had just exploded from his space equipment.
The pack of hounds had yielded six magic items, two pieces of equipment, and four tiny amounts of magic materials.
He picked up one of the leggings to inspect.
[Wilderness Bite]
[Leggings]
[Color: Copper]
[Attributes:]
[Slightly increases agility]
[Slightly increases movement speed]
[Description: Made from the leg bones of hounds from the wilderness.]
Aside from being a bit unattractive, the attributes were quite good.
Without much thought, he quickly equipped the leggings on his legs.
The other piece of equipment was a dogskin hat, and just looking at it was unbearable.
[Dogskin Hat]
[Hat]
[Color: Copper]
[Attributes: Slightly increases sense of smell]
[Description: Sewn from a hound’s scalp.]
The attributes were, well, hard to assess.
However, it wasn’t useful now, so he stored it in his space equipment for future use.
The remaining materials didn’t need much discussion and were stored directly in his space equipment.
It felt like it wouldn’t be long before he could draw another skill stone.
Floating in the sky following the thread, after about an hour.
Kane saw a rainbow-colored star occasionally flashing in the distant sky.
This was precisely the message to relay to separated teammates.
It seemed Kreya and the others were there, as Lylulu’s magical effects were quite conspicuous.
"Look, look, isn’t that cloud in the sky Cotton Candy?"
The sharp-eyed Lylulu instantly noticed the anomaly in the sky.
After hearing the voice, everyone looked to the sky and saw not only Cotton Candy but also Kane on Cotton Candy.
When Kane came down, everyone immediately surrounded him.
Kane hadn’t expected that besides himself and Cotton Candy, the others had already reunited.
Yoyo slid over, casting a scanner to incessantly scan Kane, while Meizike checked him for any injuries.
After all, Kane didn’t look exactly unscathed; he was a bit haggard.
Regardless of whether or not he was hurt, Meizike first tossed a vial of healing particles into his body.
Once they confirmed he was alright, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
"How come you all are together?"
Kreya approached, handing Kane a wet towel, finally tidying up his clothes.
"It was Lylulu who, at intervals, would send an exploding colorful star into the sky, which we followed."
At this point, Longbei added: "It seems the places we were teleported to weren’t too far apart, so we reunited soon, though we couldn’t find you even after wandering for ages."
Kane listened as his teammates narrated various events following their teleportation.
He couldn’t help but ponder.
The Mist Badge worn inside, did it really offer any luck-enhancing effects?
Kane suspected he was transported directly to the other side of the dungeon, while his teammates were sent far from him.
Adding to this were the encounters with elite monsters along the way, not to mention the irritating chase by dogs.
Although he did acquire a luck-enhancing ring.
Yet, he felt no joy at all.
"And you, Kane, you look like you’ve had quite the adventure."
Hearing Longbei’s words, Kane began to slowly recount his brief journey after being teleported to his teammates.
After listening to Kane’s account, Kreya and the others looked at Kane with a hint of sympathy in their eyes.
Longbei even came forward, patting Kane on the shoulder: "It’s no big deal; perhaps it’s the mist’s trial for you."
It was fine initially, but your words make me sound pitiable.
Thank you, I suppose.
