Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons
Chapter 158 Nightmare
CHAPTER 158: CHAPTER 158 NIGHTMARE
After cleaning up the loot, the group started heading toward the city center.
Various undead creatures began to emerge along the way—skeletons, ghostly spirits, and weapons attached with the souls of fallen warriors floating towards Kane and his team, ready to attack.
Kane looked at the surrounding buildings; the architectural style seemed reminiscent of a certain religious flair.
They might have arrived at the church district of the city, and as they opened their Eagle Eye to survey the area, they indeed spotted a large mass of magic reaction nearby.
However, judging from the outline of the magic reaction, it didn’t seem to be an undead or any sort of creature; instead, it resembled a structure.
"There’s something ahead; let’s be cautious,"
With those words, he led the team towards the location of the magic reaction.
After guiding them through obstructing buildings, a small square appeared before them, and in the center, there seemed to be a small chapel or similar structure.
The chapel was protected by a golden membrane.
Kane and his team cautiously approached the chapel.
As they got closer, something inside the chapel seemed to have been disturbed, and a sound emerged from within.
Kane and his team immediately became vigilant.
It was a ghost-like entity,
but with a transparent spiritual body emitting a faint golden glow.
From her facial features and the ethereal attire, it appeared to be a nun.
She seemed very surprised at Kane and the team’s arrival, floated to the front of the membrane, and shouted at them, "Quickly leave, get out of here, he’s coming."
Upon hearing her words, Kane’s vision and instincts instantly heightened his sense of alertness.
"Be careful! Something is coming,"
Upon hearing Kane’s warning, Longbei and Kreya raised their shields instantly, standing beside them defensively.
Meizike immediately took out two bottles of Visibility Dust and sprinkled them around, while Lilu swung her magic rod, a gentle breeze spreading the dust’s range around Kane and his team.
Kane knew this monster could evade his Eagle Eye’s magic vision and could only rely on his intuition, striving to sense the movements around him.
The Visibility Dust had a certain effect, as Kane and his team could feel the monster flickering near them, but it was quite cunning and became even more elusive after sensing the visibility dust.
"You sneaky, foul-smelling maggot, come fight your granddaddy!"
Unable to locate the target, Longbei resorted to indiscriminate taunting.
The taunt proved somewhat effective as a sound of hooked claws scraping against steel resonated, and Longbei’s shield instantly bore three scratches.
This monster could penetrate a certain amount of shield. Seeing this scene made everyone even more vigilant.
After delivering a hit to Longbei, the monster didn’t strike again, but Kane’s intuition told him the monster still lurked nearby, its malicious gaze fixed tightly on them.
Another attack was heard, this time targeting Kreya, but Kreya sensed this attack and defended with her shield.
Yet, the shield was pierced with three claw marks.
Not good, they couldn’t continue like this; if they were struck even once by its attack, Kane and his team would suffer considerable damage.
A halo appeared behind Kane’s head.
Flashing with golden light, Kane frantically shot spider silk around, with a faint white glow attached.
These spider silks were continuously woven by Kane, forming a large web around them, with Kane and his team at its center.
Finally, Kane crafted a large sniper launcher, a new model he had upgraded that could fire more powerful bullets.
He then closed his eyes, relying on instinct to sense the subtle movements transmitted through the spider web.
Suddenly, Kane sensed something, raised his hand, and fired a Holy Light Bullet in a certain direction.
A sharp, agonizing scream rang out as the monster revealed its true form.
A creature clad in a black robe, with a completely dark body like a cloud of smoke, glared bloodthirstily at Kane and his team, arms like enormous black hooked claws.
This appeared to be a nightmare creature.
Kane’s attack tore through its robe and penetrated a hole in its body.
Then the smoke on its body began to gradually fill and close the hole.
"Whoosh!"
A sharp sound pierced the air as a golden-glowing long spear was launched, directly penetrating the monster’s body.
The nightmare let out a more intense scream, its smoky body ripped open with a large gap, as it fixed its furious gaze on Kane and his team, then disappeared into the air once more.
The long spear was thrown by Kreya upon seeing the monster reveal its true form.
The nightmare, having vanished again, hadn’t left as Kane’s intuition was still sending frantic danger signals.
It merely concealed itself once more, waiting to launch a more covert attack.
Kane could only continue weaving the web, trying to expand his detection range.
In this situation, Kreya and the others were helpless, merely watching.
Lilu seemed to have thought of something, waved her magic rod, and chanted, "Evil spirit, evil spirit, come out quickly."
Then a chubby ghost with its tongue sticking out was summoned, looking silly.
"Can you sense the nightmare’s movements?"
The silly-looking ghost sniffed the air, its eyes brightened, turned towards Lilu, and nodded.
"Then quickly point it out for Lilu."
Then the white ghost’s protruding tongue turned into an arrow, tracking the nightmare’s position.
Four barrage dragonflies floated around Kane, beginning to pour barrages toward the direction indicated by the white ghost.
Though the nightmare kept shifting positions, Kane’s barrage continuously followed its movements.
The nightmare evaded a few shots before finally being hit by the bullets, slowly revealing its form and letting out periodic screams.
Seeing the white ghost truly able to pinpoint the nightmare’s location, Kane’s face finally broke into a bold grin.
"Meizike, give me two more Holy Light Potions."
Two bottles of Holy Light Potions flew over, and Kane caught them and poured them into the air.
A large square block enveloped by Holy Light stood next to him.
Dismissing the barrage dragonflies, Kane produced a 12-barrel launcher.
He had the white ghost stand directly on the launcher to guide him.
The trigger was pulled, countless golden bullets streamed like a beam toward the indicated direction.
"Let’s see you play hide and seek with me, die!"
The golden barrage beam relentlessly followed the direction pointed by the white ghost.
This time, the nightmare couldn’t escape; with a series of screams, it was pierced entirely by the golden barrage, its smoky body dissipating into nothingness.
