Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons
Chapter 165 Ancient Castle
CHAPTER 165: CHAPTER 165 ANCIENT CASTLE
Kane and his companions made their way towards the center of the castle along the path in the eerie forest.
The cold wind rustled the branches of the roadside trees, producing eerie sounds.
Until Kane and his companions reached the castle gate, no dungeon monsters came to stop them along the way.
The castle was surrounded by a circle of pitch-black walls, and in front of Kane and his companions stood a giant stone door. The pattern drawn on the stone door was something they had seen in that conquered city.
The entire castle was much taller than Kane and his companions had imagined. The tallest stone tower reached nearly fifty or sixty meters high.
There were holy statues standing throughout the castle, but now all these statues were stained pitch black, with various marks of filth on them.
Kreya and Longbei stood on either side of the door, pushing against the stone door with all their might.
With their exertion, the entire stone door began to tremble, sending small dust particles falling, and then it slowly started to be pushed open.
What met their eyes was a small plaza, at the center of which stood a fountain, but it was not carved out of stone. Instead, it was a composition of various skulls and body bones, with a spray of bright red liquid, emitting a putrid stench.
The grass lawn surrounding the plaza was covered with various dilapidated, ancient tombstones.
However, the entire plaza was deserted.
Kane and the others cautiously entered the gate of the wall, and after crossing the plaza, they reached the true entrance of the castle.
Upon opening the iron gate of the castle, the group entered in single file.
As soon as Kane and his companions stepped inside the castle, various candlelights around lit up with a ghostly blue flame.
Kane and his companions entered the entrance hall of the castle, which, although dilapidated and covered in dust, still bore signs of past grandeur.
Standing in the hall, Kane and his companions felt confused. With various passages and rooms, how were they to know where the boss was?
"Never mind, let’s pick a place and go first," said Kane impatiently.
Having spoken, Kane led his teammates into one of the passages, crossing it and entering a small garden.
The plants and flowers in the garden had long withered and decayed, and what they saw next was a corpse wearing a gown standing in the center of the garden, its clothes already pitch black.
As if sensing Kane and his companions’ presence, she turned her head and, with a groan, staggered towards them.
A Holy Light Bullet pierced through her skull, ending her existence.
Seeing that there was only this one monster around, they had no choice but to continue forward down the hallway.
Unexpectedly, they found themselves in a gallery adorned with tapestries and paintings.
As soon as Kane and his companions entered the gallery.
Strange laughter echoed around them.
"Hmm, someone’s here."
"Fresh souls, delicious."
"Hahaha, eat, eat."
The faces of strange people appeared on the paintings and tapestries, laughing and screaming at Kane and his companions, flying around them.
These bizarre things were possessed by souls ruthlessly killed, transformed into evil spirits.
Longbei quickly pulled out his Giant Hammer, leapt up, and smashed the painting flying around in the air. The painting was shattered, and the Holy Light Attribute damage directly melted its soul away.
Thus, the painting vanished with a mournful wail into the air, becoming a wisp of dust that fell to the ground.
With Longbei’s first strike, everyone else launched their attacks as well.
Bullets radiating golden light continuously hit the paintings and tapestries flying around in the air. Each time they hit, they created a large hole, the edges of which were stained by Holy Light, and the magic power continually spread towards the surroundings.
Kreya’s golden Light Blade, with each swing, could take away an evil spirit.
Two Holy Light Butterflies flew directly into the group of evil spirits in the air, fluttering around, and every evil spirit brushing against the flapping wings of the Holy Light Butterflies was burned out with a large hole.
The entire gallery echoed with the earsplitting screams and screeches.
After a brief warm-up, the already dilapidated gallery, covered in cobwebs, now had a thick layer of ash covering the floor, adding to its ancient aura.
The group searched for loot, gaining only a few traces of materials in the end.
Wandering aimlessly in the castle wasn’t a wise idea, as Kane and his companions needed to keep a good condition to face the final boss.
They decided to let Youyou lead the way, using calculations to determine which path was more likely to lead to the center of the castle.
After all, being the King, he should be residing at the center of the castle.
Youyou began to advance at the front of the team, continuously scanning the surrounding terrain with its scanner.
Starting to lead Kane and his companions on a stroll through the castle, in which numerous rooms and occasional evil spirits, skeletons, and corpses emerged from every corner to attack them.
In the end, having Youyou lead the team proved to be a very wise decision.
Kane and his companions finally arrived at a large corridor in the center of the castle. The corridor seemed to run through half the castle.
With carpets laid in the middle, various portraits of crowned heads, and tattered, floating banners hung on either side, the corridor was flanked with numerous knight armor statues.
Before taking a few steps in this corridor, Kane instantly pulled his teammates into a side corridor, hiding at the corner.
Kane peered out and looked into the distance, where a magical power reaction was approaching them.
Soon, they came into Kane’s sight.
Peering over Kane’s shoulders, Kraeya also took a look, while Lilulu lay directly atop his head.
As for Longbei, he was bound to be below Kane.
"These armors look kind of cool! They have a very refined shape," Longbei commented on the procession slowly passing by, wearing Heavy Armor.
Kreya observed carefully too: "The specs of this type of knight should qualify as Royal Guards; look, there’s a specialized knight behind them, holding a flag bearing their legion’s emblem."
"A squad of knights composed of elites, totaling six members, let’s go," Kane’s Eagle Eye instantly assessed the strength and composition of these knights within their range to handle.
Upon receiving Kane’s command, Kreya instantly took the lead, turning into a white afterimage as she rushed towards the squad of knights.
Longbei followed closely behind, charging forward with his Shield raised high.
Meanwhile, Kane kept firing ammunition to cover them.
The white afterimage swept past them, leaving a faint layer of frost on their Armor, slowing their movements.
Longbei’s charge slammed into the two knights at the front holding Great Shields with great force, causing them to step back a few paces, but the impact was not significant.
