Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons
Chapter 47: Skeleton Hound
CHAPTER 47: CHAPTER 47: SKELETON HOUND
Following the gentle silhouette
Kane and the others never retraced their steps.
Occasionally, skeletons would appear along the way, lurking around corners.
None of these monsters were openly positioned; they were all hiding in various treacherous corners, either at the bend or in traps.
Some even buried themselves directly underground.
But in Kane’s eyes, these monsters were all ’honorable,’ none were treacherous.
After all, they were created by the dungeon using magic power, weren’t they?
Finally, a magic power group appeared in Kane’s vision, in the shape of an hourglass, right ahead.
But around it were three large magic power groups, likely the dungeon monsters guarding it.
"Stop," Kane gestured to the team to halt, then pointed forward. "Up ahead should be the center of this maze. I see the hourglass."
"There are three monsters around the hourglass. Longbei, you hold one, we’ll quickly take down another. How about that, any issues?"
Hearing Kane’s suggestion, Kreya and Meizike both shook their heads, indicating no issues.
Longbei, however, said, "Leave two to me, you all quickly handle one, then come help me."
Looking at the dwarf, he asked, "Are you sure?"
"Don’t worry, leave it to me," the dwarf patted his chest, his armor making a loud thumping sound.
Kane nodded, "Alright, let’s go with that. Get ready, let’s move."
The potion bottles floating around the three began to pour down, initiating Meizike’s enhancement.
He then tossed three more bottles, which floated beside Kane and the others.
Exiting the passage
The full view unfolded before Kane and his team, revealing a circular plaza.
In the center of the plaza was a stone pillar, atop which floated the crystal hourglass, now much smaller than when it was hanging in the sky.
Currently only the size of a human head, it still emitted a brilliant light.
The true appearance of the three magic power groups was revealed.
These were three giant hounds made of bones, with ghostly soul fire flickering in their eye sockets.
The bony teeth dripped with green venom.
Upon seeing Kane’s group, they roared and charged.
Kreya switched her longsword and shield for the wolf fang club she used against goblins.
For these hollow-bodied, bone-structured creatures, blunt force was clearly more effective than slashing, and Kreya understood this well.
She targeted the rightmost creature and launched her charge.
Seeing Kreya had chosen her opponent, Kane and Meizike followed quickly.
Meanwhile, Longbei charged at the other two, his role was to stall them.
However, the skeletal giant hounds wouldn’t comply; one targeted Longbei, while the other two charged at Kane’s group.
"Roar"
With a roar, Longbei’s figure visibly grew to two meters, his proportion making him look like a small giant.
His armor and weapons enlarged with his body.
"Come here, you heap of bones."
As he shouted, his naturally red beard ignited, turning into a blaze.
One of the hounds initially charging towards Kane’s group turned, heading for Longbei instead.
Longbei laughed heartily, "That’s it, come to papa."
Meanwhile, the centaur had already engaged the skeleton dog, bolstered with agility, making this charge swift and imposing.
With the added impact of her charge, a swing of her club shattered the jaw of the skeleton dog lunging at Kreya.
The skeleton dog flipped in mid-air, tumbling to the ground, rolling a few times.
Seeing this, Kane used spider silk to pull himself toward the fallen creature.
He lifted his air giant hammer with force, bringing it down hard.
The just-rising skeleton dog was hammered back, bones flying at the point of impact.
After this strike, Kane shot a spider silk at the skeleton dog, with a potion tube attached.
This was something Meizike had just handed to Kane, only saying, "throw it on the bones."
So Kane decisively used the spider silk to stick it to the creature.
With the effect of the spider silk, the potion stuck firmly to the skeleton dog.
Watching Kane’s actions, Meizike extended a hand, clenching his fist with force.
"Boom!"
The skeleton dog was engulfed in a massive explosion, the impact scattering its bones everywhere.
Kreya raised her shield at the sound of the explosion, shielding Kane, who instantaneously cast a transparent barrier over them both.
Stones and bones clattered against Kane’s barrier, which would have left bruises if it hit a person directly.
It turned out Meizike was quite the ’artist,’ able to concoct such explosive potions.
It seems next time, explosions should be factored into the tactical plan.
After the shockwave passed, Kreya picked up Kane, heading towards the dwarf.
As for Meizike, being further from the explosion, he saw Kane and the others were fine, then also went towards Longbei.
Pushing through the explosion’s dust cloud, Longbei’s situation became visible.
The potion bottle by his side was also pouring down, coating him with a dirt-yellow membrane.
When the thickening effect reaches two layers, a protective membrane appears on the user, greatly reducing physical damage but vulnerable to magic attacks and increasing the user’s weight.
If the user’s physique isn’t strong, they might be crushed.
Longbei grabbed one skeleton dog by its hind leg, using it as a weapon against the other.
The dwarf’s body showed no visible injuries, only some faint white marks on the armor.
Seeing Kane and his team approaching, Longbei hurled the skeletal dog towards them.
Then he jumped and pinned the other to the ground.
As the skeleton dog flew and landed, Kane leaped down, firing several webs at it.
The skeleton dog, upon landing, was wrapped tightly in spider silk as the centaur raised the wolf fang club and smashed down hard on its skull.
The skeleton head was shattered entirely, the soul fire within flickered briefly before extinguishing.
After eliminating this one, they turned to Longbei’s direction.
The dwarf had the skeleton dog pinned under him, clamping its head with his arms.
His other hand relentlessly pummeled the skeletal head, with fragments and flickers of soul fire amidst the cranial ruins.
No matter how it struggled with all its might, it couldn’t escape the dwarf’s enlarged embrace.
Longbei swung an arm back, bringing it down with force.
That powerful blow ended the skeleton’s life, crushing its skull entirely.
Kane and the other two could only watch Longbei’s brutal punches, finding no opportunity to intervene.
