Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons
Chapter 59 Where Are You Running
CHAPTER 59: CHAPTER 59 WHERE ARE YOU RUNNING
In the cold, dark graveyard
Kane and the others sprinted behind the Walking Dead; it no longer changed directions.
Without a doubt, its goal was right ahead.
As the target got closer, a multitude of magic power reactions appeared in Kane’s Eagle Eye.
It seemed the target was indeed ahead, which made Kane breathe a sigh of relief; they’d roamed this layer for too long without a target.
This was the first time they’d encountered a monster deliberately avoiding the Explorer.
He turned and shouted to the people behind him, "The enemy is ahead, prepare for battle."
Upon hearing Kane’s words, everyone sprung into action, adjusting their positions and equipment.
The Walking Dead finally stopped; it wanted to return to its master.
A cold gleam flashed by, and a sword blade infused with Holy Light slashed its neck, as a reward for leading the way.
Ahead, amidst a heap of monsters, floated Ghosts in tattered long robes, alongside decayed or withered Walking Dead, and numerous Skeletons.
In the middle, there was a lean old man holding a black Wooden Staff, cursing at Kane and the others. Due to the language barrier, they couldn’t understand him.
But seeing his blackened rotting teeth and wide eyes, with a sharp, piercing tone, one could imagine it wasn’t pleasant.
No matter how hard he cursed, it was useless; since they were caught up with, escape was not an option.
Kreya charged ahead, letting out a roar, her eyes flaring with a red glow, the banner on her horse fluttering without wind, stomping out a glowing ring beneath.
She raised her Lance and charged.
Meanwhile, Longbei continued to transform into a Giant, leaping into the monster heap.
Meizike took out another different Holy Light Potion and tossed it to Kane.
"Into the monsters"
Upon hearing this, Kane nocked the arrow, secured it, and shot it out.
The milky white glowing Potion Bottle traced a beautiful arc in the air.
It landed above the monsters, and Meizike clenched his hand.
The holy light potion exploded, turning the liquid into a mist under the blast.
The white, glowing droplets covered the entire area evenly, making the undead creatures act as if drenched in acid.
White smoke rose from them, with a sharp, screeching howl.
The Necromancer tried to flee this area but was shot in the back by a glowing projectile.
His Shield of the Dead Soul had already been broken by Meizike’s Holy Light Potion, allowing Kane’s attack to hit smoothly.
The Necromancer let out a hoarse, mournful scream; with the arrow disappearing, the potion attached to the arrowhead lingered in his body.
The potion remnants in his body were like acid tunneling into his flesh, causing the Necromancer to writhe in agony on the ground.
Another arrow shot over, this time striking his skull directly.
The pain vanished.
With the Necromancer’s death, the surrounding undead flailed like headless flies, struggling within the mist of Holy Light.
Kreya and Longbei lavishly slaughtered the undead monsters, which under the Holy Light Potion, had no capacity to resist, only awaiting slaughter.
In fact, the moment the Necromancer died, the objective was already completed.
The ground began to shake, and the surviving undead monsters turned into fine sand of magic power, vanishing alongside the entire graveyard.
As the tremors ceased, they returned to a familiar arena.
This dungeon level, with Meizike’s potion, was cleared effortlessly.
The only time spent was in chasing the Necromancer everywhere. Kane suspected that as soon as they entered the graveyard, they immediately used the Holy Light Potion.
Following the Walking Dead’s death, it could be counted under the Holy Light attack as well.
The Necromancer might have realized this and kept avoiding them. Watching some of his actions, he seemed to have retained a good deal of wisdom.
Reflecting now, if a mage didn’t keep their wisdom, casting magic would become an issue.
Longbei came over, patted Meizike’s shoulder, and said: "Good brother, your potion was incredibly useful. You will definitely become an amazing Pharmacist in the future."
Meizike didn’t reply but nodded slightly.
Ignoring the surrounding cheers, he approached the chest among the pile of Gold Coins.
Due to clearing this level too easily, Kane felt a bit uncertain while opening the box.
Opening the chest, five pieces of Magic Items appeared on the ground.
He immediately picked up the most conspicuous item, a Skeletal Arm, to examine it.
[Bone Arm Staff]
[Scepter]
[Color: Copper]
[Attributes:]
[Minor recovery on magic]
[Magic minor enhancement - Undead]
[Description: Used by Shi·Te during school years, it’s been around for a while.]
The mage’s equipment, indeed their team still lacked a mage, but this equipment was useless now.
Though it’s in the Undead System, it should sell for a good price in the store, so he stored it away.
He picked up equipment that looked like a Skull; what they dropped was quite distinctive this time.
[Skull]
[Consumable]
[Color: Copper]
[Attributes: None]
[Skills: Summon Skeleton] (Summons a Skeleton Soldier)
[Description: You’re holding its head, so it must obey you; the price is to return the head to it.]
A real toy, and as a consumable, it can only be used once.
Even for a dog, it’d disdain its blandness.
Never mind, the skull does look nice; he stored it away as a keepsake.
The last equipment remained.
It was a piece of ragged cloth, like torn from a Ghost’s tattered robe.
[Ghost Fragment]
[Protective Talisman]
[Color: Copper]
[Attributes: None]
[Skills: Ghostly Aura] (Emit a ghost-like aura)
[Description: It’s a Ghost’s body fragment, but it can only deceive other ghosts for a short while; they will eventually discover you’re problematic and hunt you.]
Another object of obscure meaning, useful only in extremely specific scenarios.
Currently totally useless.
Stored away in space.
Picked up the last two pieces of magic materials.
[Shi·Te’s Middle Finger]
[Magic Materials]
[Color: Copper]
[Attributes: Magic Stone Energy moderated increase]
[Description: This is an unspoken protest by the Necromancer being copied by the dungeon.]
What a pitiful mage, though meaningless; the rest is a minor magic material.
Now basically each time there’s a moderate magic material and a minor magic material.
Kane peered at the spot where the chest vanished, lost in thought.
I did open a box, didn’t I?
Longbei came over, patted Kane’s shoulder, and comforted, "Your equipment from the last level was too good, so this level needed to balance it out. It’s normal; even if you’re the Mist’s bastard, you can’t pull exceptional gear every time, right?"
Kane stood up; indeed, luck is balanced. This time the equipment was extremely rubbish, merely because the last time consumed too much luck.
Receiving the gold pouch passed by Yuyu, he allocated the Mist’s accorded coins within.
To his teammates, he inquired, "Are you ready to leave?"
Seeing his teammates nod, he silently recited the return.
The gentle breeze swayed; Kane and his team’s silhouette was nowhere to be seen.
