CHAPTER 53: CHAPTER 53—HORNED WHITE WOLF

Chapter 53—Horned White Wolf

"Roarrr!" The howl tore through the area, stopping the red slime mid-bounce as he pivoted to get a clear look at the newcomer.

The humans stopped fighting the wolves and began backing away, sensing the danger.

A majestic white wolf, almost twice the size of the ordinary wolves, stepped into the field from behind. A thick horn jutted from its forehead.

"How dare you humans kill my kin?" the wolf roared, his voice was like a majestic adult human male, his eyes burning red with fury.

"Retreat," he ordered, wolves retreated under the command. Within seconds, they got away from the battlefield.

Thud!—Humans took one step back if the horned white wolf took one step ahead.

Just its presence sent a chill through Slime#47.

"Appraisal," he muttered as a notification flashed before his eyes.

’They’re almost at the same level,’ he thought, muttering, "Indeed, I can take them down one‑on‑one easily, just like Elder Slime said... but if they gang up..."

"Ahhh!" The bulky man’s shout snapped Young Slime back to reality.

"&yVcG!" he yelled as the transparent yellow barrier around him thickened swiftly, and another layer formed over it.

’Multiple layers, huh? Definitely an uncommon-level shield skill,’ Red Slime mused, glancing at the heavy‑shield man who now stood in front of the horned white wolf while his team stayed behind him, the distance between humans and wolf was almost five meters.

"Should I run...? I’ll leave when it gets serious," he decided.

"Howl!" The wolf howled and said, "Iron Body, Haste."

A crimson aura surrounded its body.

"#*uhn!" The adventurer party didn’t retreat; one by one, their bodies flared with boost skills. Their bodies were covered by either, raging aura or mana.

’Three red and two blue... hmm,’ Slime#47 noted. Two party members were clearly using mana boosts.

"Lightning Ray," the white wolf cast, a light‑purple magic rune flashing on its horn.

A bolt of light-purple lightning burst from the rune and—Whoosh!—shot toward the adventurers.

"Ahhh!" The shield man dashed forward to intercept.

Boom!

Lightning Ray crashed into the shield. Boom! The man held against it, pouring all his aura into defense.

"*#@##" The caster used her spells again and again as multiple Lightning Balls flared to life and were ready to attack.

Boom!

"*&&!" The archer formed a dark‑green magic arrow on his bow, already drawn and ready to release.

"**&!" The shield guy roared, his body trembling as he took a few steps back. He couldn’t hold on for much longer.

"*&&!" The captain, the staff‑wielding fighter, yelled.

On his command, Whoosh!—the archer and mage launched their attacks.

The green arrow split into twenty mid-flight, raining down toward the wolf like a storm. The mage followed with ten Lightning Balls.

’Incredible. They’re quick... and that mage, she can cast ten Lightning Balls in such a short time,’ Slime thought, impressed by her casting speed.

But even with all that skill, he didn’t believe they could realistically win against that horned white wolf.

He also stayed to watch for this reason—to study human fighting style and learn from a high‑level battle.

Whoosh!

The wolf stopped channeling Lightning Ray and—Whoosh!—moved at insane speed, dodging both arrows and spells by shifting to the side to side.

But in mid‑air, the arrows and Lightning Balls changed direction.

’Hmm... that’s new,’ Slime muttered, intrigued. His decision to watch the fight was already paying off.

"Lightning Ray!" Seeing that dodging wasn’t working, the wolf cast his spell again.

A magic rune manifested as a ray of light‑purple lightning rushed toward the incoming attacks.

Boom!

Smoke surged as the Lightning Balls were wiped out, but some arrows avoided the purple ray by hiding behind the other attacks and curved toward the wolf from different angles.

"Iron Claw!"

The wolf’s senses were sharp; even through the smoke, it detected the incoming arrows.

Its claws glowed silver as its aura flared violently, blowing the smoke apart.

Bang!Bang!

Claws and arrows collided in rapid flurries, afterimages of claws filling the air.

The wolf destroyed several of the green arrows aimed at him.

"*^^!"

Just as the last arrow shattered, a dark‑purple, corrosive‑coated dagger flashed behind the wolf’s nape, held by a skinny woman.

Whoosh!

’Whoa... what a quick assassin,’ Slime thought, startled.

He hadn’t even noticed the assassin when they started launching attacks, let alone expected such precise timing and placement.

"*8#@!" The skinny woman poured all her aura into that single strike.

This was her only chance; the wolf would never fall for the same trick again.

But—Ting!—the dagger only pierced a shallow two inches into the wolf’s nape before—

"Whooo!" it grunted in pain, crimson aura flaring even stronger and weakening the dagger’s power.

Blood splattered from the wolf’s neck.

"Iron Claw, Haste!"

Enraged, it poured all its aura into both skills. With terrifying speed—Puk!—its claw pierced the skinny woman’s stomach.

The woman glanced down, staring at the claw that had gone straight through her.

Puk!The wolf yanked its claw back, dragging coils of intestine with it.

Blood sprayed from the woman’s stomach. Thud!Thud! She staggered back a few steps.

She coughed blood and—Thud!—collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily. She glanced one last time at her party, who roared, "Ahhhh!" at her fall.

She closed her eyes, faintly relieved that her party still cared.

"Hmmm..." The wolf winced, then used another skill. "Aura Recovery."

With a flash of aura, the deep cut on his nape started to knit itself back together.

End of the Chapter.
