In our shop at the Royal Capital, the communications magic device was used to confirm with Lord Simon regarding the matter with Madam Rosary.

During that time, I had a discussion with my family and my aides, thus concluding that a building for administrative tasks was necessary.

「There is a need to distinguish between work life and private life.」

「With this development, we should make a census of the Sanctuary residents.」

「A census, huh? It is important to have an accurate grasp of the population.」

Charlotte and Akane believed that some sort of official structure was necessary.

「Right. In Valkyra Kingdom and Yggurle Kingdom, even cities have a government office, and village mayors also serve that function in villages.」

「I-I see. Have we just been acting too slow……?」

Just as Sophia had said, it reminded me that cities had government offices.

「But it’s only recently did the Sanctuary start collecting taxes. Moreover, because they reside in the Sanctuary, there isn’t even a concern that they would evade tax payments.」

「But the Sanctuary has grown in population so much now that it is necessary to have an administrative building. Since we are collecting taxes, it is essential that we return it by service to the residents.」

According to Sophia, in the beginning, I had provided fields and homes that I have built myself, and I continued to support them until they were able to be self-sufficient.

Once various people and various races began living here, the range of jobs expanded, and it was no longer an uneven relationship where I provided everything.

Then we had started levying taxes, but it’s a given that it should benefit the residents in return.

The public utilities were basically done by Laeva and myself using magic, after all.

「Okay. For the time being, I’ll build it just to have the building.」

「When the people that Lord Simon plans to introduce finally arrive, this mansion would be too cramped, after all.」

For now, we were waiting for Lord Simon to make contact regarding Madam Rosary’s matter, so I should still make a workplace for the civil officials that Lord Simon would give referrals to. While I am at it, maybe I should also build a three-story apartment.

This will be the third time making a dormitory-style building, so I’m used to it. The first was beside my mansion for Maribelle and the maids, as well as Charlotte and my aides to use. The second was the building that Mimir had me asked me to make for her servants and maids. And this makes the third, so I could transmute it with my eyes closed as long as I have the materials.

Laeva and I momentarily paused the development of new equipment to make the administrative building as well as the dormitory for the people who would work there.

With Laeva helping, we prepared a plot of land at the edge of the central region.

The land flattened using Earth magic was a considerable amount of space.

「We’re making a five-story building with three basement levels, correct?」

「Yup, let’s use the earth and stone from the basement as materials to create the building above ground.」

「In that case, we simply need materials to reinforce the building above ground, glass windows, and wooden flooring for the rooms.」

「That’s right. We can postpone the matters involving the magic devices, so let’s at least construct the exterior for now.」

「Understood.」

We piled up materials such as wood, stone, silica sand, iron, and copper at the construction site.

As I looked at the blueprint detailing the layout and specifications of the building, I held a strong image in mind.

I was responsible for the large administrative building, and Laeva was going to transmute the dormitory, or perhaps a boarding house.

「「『Transmute』!」」

The earth rumbled as magical light radiated and forming into a complete stone building.

The five-story high stone building with three basement levels might be easier to imagine if imagined as an old bank.

「Whew, maybe we can call on the Dwarven and Elven craftsmen for the finer details?」

「That sounds good.」

Inspecting the interior and exterior as well as the finer details were necessary, but the sculptures adorning a builder should probably be left to the Dwarven and Elven craftsmen. That means we wouldn’t take their jobs away from them, after all.

「Then, shall we do the inspection?」

「Understood.」

Laeva and I split up, and checked the interior and exterior of the buildings.

They were large buildings, so we had to make sure that they were structurally sound and check if we need to reinforce some additional areas.

Once we finished our check, Laeva and I decided to do the magic device installation the next day and returned to the mansion. We enjoyed some tea on the living room sofa when Maribelle informed me that Madam Lumia had returned.

「Umm, didn’t she return not too long ago?」

「That is correct.」

It felt like déjà vu.

「Madam Lumia had a message for you, Master. She wishes to meet with you tomorrow, at any time.」

「……I see.」

When Madam Lumia came to my mansion, she doted on Etoile and then returned to Mimir’s neighboring mansion.

Following Madam Rosary, Madam Lumia also returned to the Sanctuary.

Did they receive permission from King Yggurle and Lord Simon? The two gentlemen were weak to their wives, after all. Well, it’s not like I could say much either.
