Someday Will I Be The Greatest Alchemist?
Chapter 611: Establishment of the Medical Clinic
Since Madam Rosary and Madam Lumia had brought up the topic of a medical clinic, I tried discussing it with my family.
「Until now, the church, Miss Mimir, as well as Akane and I treat the residents’ illnesses and injuries, but wouldn’t it be better to make a proper clinic for it?」
「Of course it would be better to have an actual place for it.」
「Thought so.」
Akane spoke as if I was saying something obvious, and it made me reflect that I should have built it much earlier.
It’s not an excuse, but perhaps because the air was good in the Sanctuary, or maybe because of the food and water, the Sanctuary residents seldom ever got sick.
Of course, injuries happen, but there were rare and valuable medicinal herbs in the Sanctuary, so the residents can treat themselves if the injuries were minor.
That’s why Akane, Miss Mimir, and I rarely ever have moments where our magic was necessary.
「Let’s build a proper medical clinic, then have the priests take shifts?」
「Having a pharmacist would be nice too though. Ahh, it’s fine if I mainly work in the clinic.」
「I’d appreciate it if you could take over.」
Miss Mimir also helps with the duties of the church, so Akane saying that she would focus on the clinic is the best we could ask for.
「Should we try asking if Madam Lumia and Miss Mimir know any pharmacists?」
According to Sophia, since Elves live as one with with the forest, there were plenty who excelled in handling medicinal herbs.
They have apparently researched and developed remedies for a variety of diseases in their long history.
「We have establish treatments that don’t rely on magic, so I’d like to ask them as long as there’s no weird clauses……」
「Isn’t it fine? If it’s Great Spirit Selene asking then I don’t think any elf would refuse.」
「Oh, I see.」
Majority of the elves who have an aptitude for the Light attribute work as priests. Of course they worship Norn-sama, but because the Great Light Spirit Selene was also another object of their worship, they certainly would if she were to ask.
「No, that would be unfair. Even among the Elves, few had the affinity for Light magic, right? Then we shouldn’t lure them into a position where they can’t refuse.
「That certainly is true. But among the pharmacists in the Sanctuary, there are many who, by all means, wish to immigrate to the Sanctuary.」
「Is that so? Well, I guess that makes sense. It’s a treasure trove of medicinal plants.」
「Precisely.」
Thinking about it, this is the dream place for a pharmacist.
While we don’t have the ingredients for an elixir, we did have other rare medicinal plants, after all. All thanks to Dryas.
「But if we were to make the clinic, we should cultivate medicine specifically for it.」
「In that case, leave it to Oneechan~!」
「Uwaa! You scared me! Don’t jump in like that, Dryas.」
The moment I talked about a field for medicinal plants, Dryas suddenly appeared.
「Now, now, Takumi-chan, don’t get mad.」
「I’m not mad though. I just want you to stop appearing so suddenly.」
This applies to all of the Great Spirits, but it’s troublesome how they appear at unexpected moments.
「Now, now, let us make the medical clinic and fields for medicinal plants.」
「W-wait, I’m going, you don’t have to pull me, I said I’m going.」
Dryas pulled me out of the mansion.
She walked quickly while holding my hand.
Perhaps because it was safe within the Sanctuary, Sophia waited by the door with Etoile in her hands.
Dryas who continued to pull me by the hand, stopped.
「Takumi-chan, isn’t this place nice?」
「Near the church? Considering how the priests will also help out, it’s not a bad spot.」
The location that Dryas specified was near the church.
In the Central District, aside from my mansion, Miss Mimir’s, and the Great Spirits’, and the most recently built mansion for Madam Mimir, it only had public facilities, so there was plenty of land available.
One basement level would probably be fine. I think the building doesn’t need to be that big as well.
An examination room, a waiting room, a medicine compounding room, a storehouse, and several sickrooms for patients would probably be enough.
I withdrew wood, stone, and materials for glass from the Item Box, then kept a strong image of the complete blueprint in my head.
「『Transmute』!」
I invoked the alchemy spell and a magical light enveloped the materials.
The next instant, a three-story high medical clinic with one basement floor was completed.
「Nice, nice, it’s done well~」
「Still, it means nothing without pharmacists and physicians.」
「If we leave it to you, everything will be all right, Takumi-chan~」
「Haa, I know. Man, the weapons aren’t even complete, and yet………」
Dryas seemed satisfied at the sight of the completed building. The clinic was necessary because the population in the Sanctuary had increased, so I’m relieved too.
Now then, I need to collect some equipment and find people.
