Soul God Dominates the Mortal World
Chapter 58: Sensible Empress. Not Impulsive...
Chapter 58: Sensible Empress. Not Impulsive...A drop of sweat trickled down her forehead as she stood and waited, her heart beating wildly...
Then she saw it—two tiny dots in the sky, getting closer and closer at an alarming pace.
They came with great speed. But when they got close enough for her to see clearly, what she saw wasn’t what she expected...
A young man with silver hair, clad in a golden robe, descended from the skies, exuding an indescribable pressure. Beside him was a breathtakingly beautiful woman with flowing black hair, her robe hugging her curves perfectly, looking like a goddess who had descended alongside a divine being.
Seeing that the two powerful figures before her held no killing intent, Empress Ivana’s mind spun rapidly, her years of experience kicking in. In an instant, she came to a conclusion.
’These two... definitely not ordinary. Not to be underestimated. I mustn’t offend them. I should welcome them and tread carefully... find their purpose without triggering anything.’
She stepped forward gracefully, then bowed with measured humility.
"This humble one greets the exalted ones... May I have the honor of knowing to whom I owe the pleasure of this visit?" Her voice was soft and respectful—quite unlike her usual cold self.
A faint smile appeared on Deus’ face.
’Hmm... this mortal isn’t impulsive like the rest. She’s sharp. As expected of the one leading a mortal empire. Unlike Lancelot... tch, what a disappointment.’
Even Mira, who stood beside him silently, gave a light nod—acknowledging the Empress’ tact.
Deus’ smile deepened, and with a calm, composed voice, he replied, "Deus. Deus Anima, the god of souls."
The moment the words left his mouth, Empress Ivana’s eyes widened. Her body trembled faintly.
She coughed slightly, trying to recover her composure.
"S-Sorry... you mean... you’re our savior god... Cough..."
"Forgive my blasphemy," she added quickly, bowing again, "but I... I find it hard to believe. May I ask for proof?"
Deus’ lips twitched. Normally, the thought of being questioned would’ve made his pride flare. But the way she asked—measured, polite, and without an ounce of arrogance—it was acceptable.
Still, he replied, voice cool.
"I, as Deus, don’t need to prove that I am Deus. But I will give you this—because it aligns with my plans for this world."
With that, a surge of divine energy pulsed from him as he extended his hand slightly. A flicker later, Empress Ivana felt a weightless tug inside her. Her eyes widened as she sensed it—
Four beast souls had entered her soul subspace.
The first two were moths. One, a pale light blue, almost white, fluttered gently—each beat of its delicate wings releasing waves of chilling cold air throughout her soul subspace, like a haunting winter breeze.
The second moth shimmered with an ethereal purple hue. Its wings beat softly, releasing glowing dust—purple motes that floated gracefully, spreading an arcane, dreamlike aura across her inner world.
Then her gaze shifted to the next—an imposing, saber-toothed bear. It stood unmoving, encased in glacial armor, cold steam rising from its claws which were sheathed in sharpened ice. It stood silently, like a guardian of winter, its presence dominating a corner of her soul subspace, watching the fluttering moths above with frozen eyes.
But the fourth one—her breath hitched. A majestic stag, tall and otherworldly, with crystalline hooves and radiant silver antlers, walked proudly within her soul subspace. Its mane flowed like frost mist, and everywhere its hooves touched, beautiful frostflowers bloomed—even in midair. It didn’t so much walk on the ground as create it—it conjured a trail of icy footholds with every step, running freely in the air with complete confidence.
Just watching it move stirred awe in her soul.
Her heart trembled.
’They’re... they’re all Mythical Beast Souls... suited to my element. And they’re so... beautiful...’
She looked up at Deus again, her heart thumping differently this time. The more she gazed at him, the more divine he seemed. Something fluttered within her—subtle, inexplicable.
