CHAPTER 335: ADAM’S SURPRISING CHOICE

Listening to Anthony’s story on how things devolved into the current state left Adam with a bad taste in his mouth. Greg’s own expression was warped as he could only think of one question to ask: How could such a rich family be so fucking stupid!

Adam straightened up and pressed the button on the P.A. system. His voice cut through the sterile silence of the corporate building. "Melanie, Kylie, Blair, Jeremy, Kyle. Report to the conference room immediately."

In the penthouse office, Melanie’s eyes lit up like a predator spotting fresh prey. A twisted smile curled on her lips. "Adam’s voice. Finally. I’ve been waiting for this moment." She stood and stretched languidly. "I’ll make sure to give him a visit. He’ll love that."

Down in the basement, Kylie sat quietly in the dim light holding onto her now broken phone. She didn’t show much on her face, but the sound of Adam’s voice stirred something deep inside her.

Skepticism mingled with guilt He had come back? Growing up with him as the only one younger than her, she had done nothing to stop the others from bullying him. The only consolation she could give herself was that she had never directly bullied him herself. She knew that was no excuse though and her inaction haunted her even now. She sighed and rose, knowing she had to face what was coming.

Blair stood near the security station, arms crossed. "He wants a meeting? Fine. But my guards are coming with me." His sharp eyes scanned the hallway, cold and untrusting. "I’m not going in alone."

In his own private lab, Jeremy wiped blood from his face. Employees who had shown any sign of enhancement had ended up on the operating table and were mercilessly dissected. In his desire for knowledge and power, he was pushing himself to the edge of madness. A sneer formed when he heard the summons.

"The mutt of the family wants a meeting? This will be amusing." He grabbed a jacket, leaving the mess behind. "Let’s see what the little pest has planned."

Anthony’s eyes darted nervously. "Why are you calling them together now? Isn’t this dangerous? What if—"

Adam cut him off with a cold glare that froze the words on his tongue. The silence stretched between them like a blade. Anthony swallowed hard and shut his mouth.

"We need to face them," Adam said quietly but firmly. "No more hiding. No more running from what this family has done or what they will do next."

Anthony nodded, still tense but resigned. He knew better than to argue when Adam’s mind was made up.

The two of them stood in the quiet conference room, waiting for the others to arrive. The air felt heavy with unspoken threats and the weight of old wounds about to be reopened.

They heard footsteps first, steady and deliberate. The entry to the conference room was a chaos of splintered wood and twisted metal. Melanie stepped through with a hard expression and no sign of hesitation. "So this is where the meeting is," she said sharply. " I hope you aren’t going to waste everyone’s time again, Adam."

Her voice was ice cold, each word clipped and dismissive. She gave no hint of warmth or affection toward him.

But inside her mind, a storm raged. He was here. Finally. She could see him again. Just him, alone, waiting for her. No one else mattered. She would make sure this meeting lasted forever.

Her heart hammered even as she kept her face still. She fought to bury the wild thoughts clawing to the surface. This was no time for weakness. Not in front of the family.

Next came Kylie, her face unreadable, eyes scanning the room with careful calculation. She avoided looking directly at Adam but made no move to leave.

Blair arrived shortly after, flanked by two security guards. His posture was rigid, every muscle taut as if ready to strike. "I’m here," he said curtly.

Finally ,Jeremy stepped in, the faint scent of antiseptic and blood trailing behind him. His bloodied face twisted into a mocking grin. "Ooh~? I am the last to arrive? Oh wait, where’s Kyle? Are we going to start without our little rapist brother?"

Everyone’s face twisted a little bit at Jeremy’s blatant and blunt remarks. Now that the end of the world was upon them, he saw that there was no need to act cordial with the trash he called his siblings.

Kyle finally appeared, his shoulders slumped and eyes downcast. He looked small and defeated as he stepped into the room, clearly withering under the harsh glare of Adam standing at the head of the table.

Behind Adam, Greg stood tall with his arms crossed, his presence imposing like a silent bodyguard ready to back him up. The weight of the moment pressed down on everyone in the room.

Adam’s voice was low and steady as he began to speak.

"The world is going to shit and you lot are out here playing politics? The position of head of the family needs to end here and now.

We are going to decide who takes over here before anyone here leaves this room.

Adam’s voice grew harder, cutting through the thick tension like a blade. "There’s no room for weakness. No more games. If any of you think you can walk away from this, you’re wrong. We settle this today, or we all fall apart."

He scanned the faces around the table. Melanie’s cold glare met his without flinching, but he caught the slightest tightening around her eyes. Kylie still avoided his gaze, locked in silent guilt. Blair stood stiff and ready, his jaw clenched. Jeremy’s mocking grin faded just enough to reveal something sharper, more dangerous beneath.

Kyle shrank under Adam’s stare, his defeat obvious to all. Greg’s shadow loomed behind Adam like a shield, unwavering and steady.

Adam’s voice dropped to a low growl.

"I won’t hide it. I fucking hate all of you. But right now, the resources we have can help a lot of people. I will be nominating myself to become the head. Anyone who disagrees. Speak up now."

Blair slammed his fist on the table, his voice cold and sharp. "You think you can just walk in here and claim the headship? No way. You’re not fit for it, and none of us will let that happen."

Jeremy sneered, stepping forward with a cruel smile. "The mutt wants to lead? That’s a joke. I’ll never agree to that. The family deserves someone strong. Not some upstart playing at power."

Melanie’s gaze stayed icy but steady. "I agree with Adam. This family needs order, not more chaos. If he’s willing to take the burden, so be it."

Kylie nodded quietly, her voice soft but firm. "I’m with Adam. We can’t keep wasting time."

Anthony hesitated, glancing nervously between everyone. Then, swallowing his fear, he spoke up. "I think... I think Adam’s right. We have to try something different if we want to survive."

Kyle shifted uneasily but finally gave a curt nod. "Fine. I’ll follow the majority."

Jeremy’s face twisted with rage. "You’ll regret this. I’ll never accept it."

Before Jeremy could move, Adam blurred with deadly speed and appeared beside him, pressing a cold knife to his throat. His voice was quiet but deadly. "Majority rules. You don’t get to decide alone."

The room fell into stunned silence.

Adam pulled back and straightened. "I am now the acting head of the Samael family. Anyone who wants to challenge me can do it after we survive.

The black light that struck Adam’s body went unnoticed by all. They also remained unaware that Adam’s deepest desire was the destruction of the family he had just gained control of.

But Adam was not so foolish to try and destroy it now. For now it would prove useful in helping the people in need.
