    CRASH!

This time it was really loud as he glanced back to see the doorway he came through had been completely destroyed. This time the large minotaur man-creature had made it through his metalic head and was still venting steam every few seconds.

The minotaur had a buff and muscled body that was more than seven feet tall. On his head is a metal bull head. That was clearly lacking in the same clockwork elements that most of the creatures in this labyrinth usually had.

On his feet were brown furred boots while in his hands was a large two-sided axe. On his chest was a visible metallic protrusion that was glowing red. It looked to be over where the minotaur''s heart would be.

The minotaur pointed the head of its axe at Jace. Jace could see a red light build up at the head of the spear then it flew through the air.

Jace blindly jumped away and slid across one of the platforms and then had to grab at the edge of something as he hung off the side. He looked back over at the minotaur who had started to look around.

"Jace, are you okay?" Charlie called over the channel.

"Yeah, the minotaur caught up to us. Focus on opening that door!" Jace told them as he started swinging his body. Which in turn caused the platform he was hanging off of to violently swing and shake. Then he threw his body forward, flying through the air before he began falling. But Jace activated his forgotten Jetpack and flew up to the edge of the doorway before grabbing the edge and deactivating his jetpack again.

He glanced at the fuel and saw that most of it had been used up in that burst. He would not have needed to use as much if he was in zero gravity. But since they were in a gravity environment at the moment so it quickly burned through it to move his overall weight through the air.

Jace pulled himself up and glanced back around to the minotaur.

The minotaur was slowly walking across a platform and noticed Jace glancing back at him. So it raised its axe again with another build up of red energy at the head of the axe. Jace rolled through the door and moved to the side of the doorway as the bolt of energy splashed against the base of the doorway.

He looked around the new room he had entered. This one was just the size of a small bedroom. With the other wall on the end of the room being covered by the door with the complex locking mechanism that Ulin had mentioned. Ulin and Charlie were working on opening the door.

Jace stood up and pulled his Spitfire out from the position on his hip that he had stored it. He peaked around the corner of the doorway into the room and aimed at the minotaur. He started firing at the minotaur.

It flinched as his bullets started bouncing off its metallic bull head. Then Jace aimed at the body and frowned as he watched sparks appear. The bullets were deflecting off of the metal protrusion and the skin stopped the bullets like a sponge. For a moment he could see a mark on the skin of the minotaur before it disappeared.

Jace clicked his tongue in annoyance. The minotaur seemed to realize Jace could not damage it from a distance either. So rather than firing at him again it began jumping to the next platform. Which shook violently under the minotaur''s weight.

Jace looked up at the roof which was not visible in the dark. He switched his helmet to the nightvision and could see the anchor points on the roof for the wires that were holding up the platforms.

Jace aimed at the roof and began firing at the anchor points. There were several sparks as some of the wires began snapping. The anchor points themselves were only slightly dented by the bullets he was firing. But the wires were being damaged enough that they were snapping under the weight of the platforms alone.

A few of the platforms in front of the minotaur fell. It noticed what he was doing and aimed at him again. But before it could fire the platform it was on suddenly slipped diagonally as one of the wires snapped. Its shot flew wide and slammed into a wall of the room. Leaving a red welt of heated metal.

"Arrrrgh!" It yelled in surprise and then ran unbalanced forward and jumped with its axe raised in the direction of the doorway. Jace stepped out from the edge of the doorway and unleashed the rest of the bullets in his Spitfire at the minotaur that was jumping through the air.

The bullets may not have done any damage but the impact and force did still stop the minotaur in the air. It fell quickly down out of Jace''s sight.

He approached the edge and looked down as he could hear a noise coming from the pit. For a moment there was no movement as the red eyed figure he could make out was still. Then it began moving and stood up. It looked up at him and then used its axe to cut into the wall above it and pulled itself up.

Jace walked back through the doorway and closed the door. He then made his way over to the others. "Please tell me you have made some progress." Jace looked at what they had done so far. Which was next to nothing.

"Nope, this is more of your area of expertise. We were just about to start setting up grenades to see if we could force our way through." Charlie explained as she stood up from her crouching position.

"Where is the minotaur?" Ulin asked as she shrugged her shoulders.

"Bottom of the pit." Jace answered with a sigh as he began looking over the locking mechanism. "But he is climbing up. So you should get ready for a fight. I would suggest using those melee weapons you brought. The bullets from my spitfire just bounced off of its skin."

Charlie and Ulin shared a look of confusion before looking at him. "Bouncing off of his skin? Should we set up explosives?" Charlie asked before looking at the entrance they came in from.

"No, this room is too small. Besides we do not know how effective it will be. So chances are we will cause more damage to ourselves rather than to the minotaur." Jace told them. He was still looking over the locked door. It was not that complex of a lock. It had four components which were pressurized to keep the central lock, which would spin to open, closed. Most of the pressurization components were hidden behind the door.

"This will take a few minutes." He slipped out his knife and stabbed at one of the pressure chambers on this side of the door. There was a whistle as he pulled his knife out and air began escaping. The mechanical component began moving very slowly. Jace went and stabbed at the other three pressure chambers that were on the door.

The pressure chambers were now all slowly moving so he moved onto the next part. He grabbed the central emergency handle and pulled on it. The central tube slowly moved out as he pulled on it. Once it was fully out there was a clicking noise.

He used his knife to open a panel on the tube. Inside were a number of blinking lights and small buttons. Jace connected his helmet''s hud to the interface and began deactivating a few things. Then he used his knife to cut through an electronic component. Then he closed the panel.

Jace then spun the tube the rest of the way and then pushed it back into the door. As soon as it was flush against the rest of the door there was a loud ''whoosh'' noise as another door opened up behind this locked door. There were multiple doors and he just had opened those other doors. But now they were waiting on the pressurized lock to completely open.

"Okay that is all I can do for now." Jace told them as he stepped back from the door.

"Why did you not just remove the power from it?" Charlie asked as she was setting down her gear to prepare to fight with her hand axe and arm shield.

Jace shook his head as he set aside his own Spitfire submachine gun. "That would not have done anything. I would have to remove power from the entire facility. Which would have given away one of my abilities. I can''t do it through my system access either. For some reason this room is on its own independent system."

"Is that the reason we are here?" Ulin asked.

    "That is correct. So let''s-"
