Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Harmonic Convergence, Soul, and Vaatu

    [3rd POV]

    As the group landed to the ground, they all hopped off the bison, or climbed out of the plane, jaws dropped at the sight around them.

    "G-Gwen did you do this?" Korra asked in shock as she looked around, Northern Water tribe soldiers laying on the grounds around them, blood trickling from their foreheads and other parts of their bodies, but nothing indicated that any of them were dead.

    "Uh...surprise? I saw the camp and realized that it was...pretty weak to be honest. So I decided to just screw it and take it out myself. None of the soldiers here are masters in their art, and only these two are close to that level. And before you ask, Unalaq ran off the second I got here, seems the guy is scared of me or something" Gwen replied, causing the girls to all sigh, not even surprised anymore, while the rest just looked at her with dumbfounded looks on their faces.

    "You...took out an entire camp of Northern soldiers...by yourself?" Tenzin muttered

    dumbfounded as he stared at Gwen in awe. He knew she was a master in firebending, probably better than just about anyone else he had ever seen, but this...this was on an entirely new level.

    "Yep. Like I said, only Desna and Eska were close to the level of a master, the rest are decent at best. They were also not expecting a frontal assault like I had done, and were instead ready for an aerial one" Gwen responded.

    "So...what now? Are we just going to stand here or?" Bolin trailed off.

    "Tonraq needs to go back to get treated, for one, as he''s in no condition to be here, and no offense to you Asami, but you should probably go with him. The harmonic convergence is going to be happening soon, and it''s at the point that it can''t be stopped" Gwen answered, causing them all to look at her.

    "What? So how do we stop Vaatu then!" Tenzin asked, causing Gwen to smile.

    "Remember when I said all would be revealed? Well it''s going to be soon, and when that time comes, Vaatu will be dealt with, I promise" Gwen said, causing them all to look at her in slight confusion, not understanding what she was talking about, but decided to nod anyways.

    "How could you take care of Vaatu? Even Raava couldn''t defeat him, not without bonding to Wan and creating the Avatar" Korra asked, causing Gwen to smile.

    "I''m a lot stronger than I look, Korra. Just...trust me, okay?" Gwen softly asked, causing Korra to look at her with a small sigh, before nodding.

    "Okay, okay, I''ll trust you" Korra replied, causing her to smile.

    "Alright, so Asami will take Tonraq back. While we go into the spirit world. Tenzin, Kya, and Bumi will go and get Jinora, who if I am correct, should be getting out pretty soon, you just need to find her, that''s all" Gwen said, as she inwardly gave the go ahead to her clones to free Jinora. The girl wouldn''t know how she was freed but she would be.

    "While the rest of us will go for the dark spirits that will definitely be swarming us. I''ll deal with Vaatu personally, and Unalaq should be easy enough to take care of" Gwen said, as Unalaq was...pretty weak, even if it was only using bending, she would crush the man.

    Asami nodded, understanding. She wasn''t a bender and didn''t have any crazy technology, so she knew this was a fight she wasn''t meant for "Be careful everyone!" Asami said, causing them to nod at her before the sky bison flew off with her and Tonraq in tow.

    Looking at them all, she smiled "Alright then, let''s go!"

    Walking into the glowing beam that was a portal, Gwen stepped through the otherside to what was a unique location, with glowing skies and a large tree centered in the middle, with a glowing red center.

    Standing in front of them was Unalaq, who had a wide grin on his face "It''s too late Avatar! He shall return, and nothing you do shall stop it!" He yelled, as the portals began to glow powerfully, as Gwen felt it, the harmonic convergence. The two portals, one red and the other blue, began to slowly warp and bend, as they began to converge in the skies above, instead of simply beaming straight up as before.

    As the portals crackled with energy, sparkling brightly, the portals soon warped into a yellow color, as in the real world, a purple wave of energy covered the world, tinting it with a malicious dark color. As this happened, lightning like energy sparked out of the portal, into the tree in the middle of the area, which soon boomed with a crimson light, as something flew out.

    A large black and red being glowed above them, laughing maniacally as it was finally freed. Staring up at Vaatu, Gwen sensed his power ''Hmm, while he isn''t that strong...he has a lot of potential'' Gwen thought, noticing that while not truly strong, he had far more potential than she expected of him.

    "So you are the welp that Raava has fused with...the Avatar? Even after all those lives you are still as weak as ever, Raava!" Vaatu''s voice boomed towards Korra, while Gwen hummed at

    those words.

    ''All those lives?'' Gwen thought on those words, as she slowly began to think on something. ''What if that''s the thing that''s locked away within me? Something that is related to my lives or characters? But...I''ve got all their species, their powers, hell, even their mem-'' Gwen stopped on that word, as she realized something.

    ''...Memories...'' Gwen thought, as time almost seemed to stop around them, as she began to delve within herself once more.

    Gazing into her very soul, Gwen breathed out ''What if it''s not some sort of power that I''m missing that is making me feel so strange but...memories?'' Gwen thought, as she slowly

    breathed out.

    ''I''ve got all their memories on combat and important things, but...not all of them. Maybe...maybe it''s time I accept all of it...all their memories, as...they are me, and I am them. We are not separate...not anymore'' Gwen thought, as she gazed upon her soul, and the part that was sealed away, before breathing in deeply, and speaking.

    "Shatter"

    And as that word escaped her lips, everything warped around her, as memories...words of her lives, began to enter her mind. Around her physical form, a golden glow began to be emanated, as her soul began to glow brilliantly, as...something began to change.

    "Avengers....Assemble!"

    At those words, Gwen blinked as she turned, her eyes widening as a flash of memory entered her, memories of a great battle against a mad titan. But soon, more memories began to flood in, as her soul continued to glow brighter and brighter.

    "Do, or do not. There is no try" The voice of a small green creature emanated in her mind, more memories flooding.

    "Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light" The words of a old man, with a grey beard and sparkling eyes. More memories flooded.

    "GET OVER HERE!" The words of a yellow suited warrior.

    "I am Groot" The words of a...walking tree.

    SKREEORRR The roar of a great black creature.

    "UNITED STATES OF....SMAAAAAAASH" The final strike of the greatest hero.

    "Wha-What is this?!"

    "Relax spirit, I am Hati, a Lord of Chaos. The furball is Teekl, another Lord of Chaos. The gaudy guys behind me are the Lords of Order, out opposites" Hati''s voice boomed as everyone just watched in supreme confusion as they spoke, while the girls all sighed, once again knowing their girlfriend was doing something ridiculous (ly cool).

    "So here''s my offer Vaatu. Join me like they have, as I become your host. In return, you will no

    longer have to worry about people attacking you, no longer have to worry about the humans, and you will be able to cause all the non lethal chaos you want. All the while, you''ll get stronger than you can ever believe, just like them" Gwen said, pointing over her shoulder as

    she stared up at the being.

    "Is this really okay?" Mako whispered, causing Korra to stare at Gwen before smiling softly

    and nodding. "Yeah, yeah it''s okay. I trust Gwen" Korra replied, causing Mako to look at her before

    chuckling and leaning back, deciding to trust in her too.

    "...Why give me such an offer, human?"

    "Because you deserve the chance to change. And...I think having a dark spirit could be really

    badass" Gwen replied genuinely, causing the being to stare at her before leaning back it''s

    head (?) and laughing.

    "HAHAHAHAHAHA you are amusing human! Fine... let us do this! But should you be lying to me, I shall get my revenge upon you" Vaatu said, causing her to smile.

    "I''d expect nothing less"

    "NO! No you cannot do this to m-ack" Unalaq''s voice cut in, only to get launched into a

    nearby wall by one of Vaatu''s tails,

    "He was annoying" Vaatu grumbled, before turning to Gwen as he glowed, before Gwen

    smiled.

    "Welcome to the family Vaatu" Gwen said as the being began to glow brightly, flew into the skies above, and then turned into a beam that flew into Gwen.

    This chapter was...not the easiest to write, but I got it in the end. Her past life has been

    revealed a bit, and is fairly important.

    Gwen will be leaving ATLA fairly soon, with Korra and her getting together very soon. Next

    volume will have no new love interests, and will basically be the "Superman and Lois Arc from

    Unique Gamer Travels" of this fic, with it entirely focusing on developing her existing relationships (that desperately need it).

    She''ll be using those tickets once she goes to the next world, which''ll be in two to three

    chapters or so, as Gwen will be taking care of the Red Lotus before it even becomes a problem, same with Kuvira.

    I''ll be implementing a new type of quest in the next universe that will give her genuine

    challenges and good rewards.
