Spoiled By My Brothers: Return of The Lost Heiress
Chapter 108: I Know Sera Likes Me!
CHAPTER 108: I KNOW SERA LIKES ME!
Author’s POV
Lucien didn’t know what to do.
Seraphina wasn’t in her right mind and needed a tranquil space to rest, and staying in the car was absolutely not an option.
He couldn’t even take her inside like this. She’d be angry again for showing himself in front of her mother and Melissa.
And he couldn’t be the reason for that.
"Sera..." he said, his voice low as he brushed a hand over her hair, trying to take all her pain away from her. "Should I... take you to my place?"
She didn’t respond. Just looked straight in his eyes, her lips parted like she wanted to say something, but nothing came out.
Her body was trembling, like she didn’t even know where she was anymore.
Lucien’s chest tightened. He didn’t want to leave her like this, and dragging her away without a word would only make things worse.
With a sigh, he slipped his phone from his pocket and quickly typed a message with a clenched jaw.
’Come out. Now.’
That was all the message said.
It was from Lucien.
Alistair didn’t waste a second.
He was already halfway to the front door as if he had been waiting for that message, and ran out.
In reality... He’d been looking for Seraphina this whole time, but she was nowhere to be found. He had looked for her everywhere and was now going out to look for her,
But then, at the very moment his phone buzzed and he saw Lucien’s name on the screen, he knew where Sera could be.
Alistair didn’t waste a second as fury replaced his concern for Sera.
Lucien had asked his sister to meet him in the middle of the night... What the hell was he thinking? Alistair’s fists clenched as he stormed out of the mansion. He wanted to throw a solid punch on Lucien’s jaw to teach him a lesson.
But when he saw the car, his steps halted.
Through the car’s tinted window, he caught sight of Seraphina.
She was in Lucien’s arms, trembling. Her face was pale, her eyes glassy with panic, her entire body shaking uncontrollably.
Alistair’s heart dropped with uncertainty of what might have happened to her, what if Lucien was the reason behind her condition.
"What the hell happened?" he whispered to himself and ran toward them.
He yanked the car door open, breathing heavily, hand reaching to pull her out—
"Don’t," Lucien said in a firm and protective tone. "She’s not in the right state, moving her only makes things worse for her.
Alistair froze. His gaze dropped to Seraphina again. She was clinging to Lucien as if he were the last hope left for her in this vast world.
"What did you do to her!?" Alistair’s voice was low but shaking, barely holding back the fury. His hands were clenched, and his heart was racing.
Lucien turned to him slowly as rage simmered right beneath the surface.
"What did I do?" he repeated, icily and sharply. He leaned forward, his body shielding Seraphina instinctively.
"You really think I did something to her?" He scoffed. "She’s living in a hellhole. Every damn corner of that place reminds her of what she went through, and you’re still calling it a home?"
Alistair looked at Seraphina again. Her face was buried in Lucien’s chest, her breathing uneven. He wanted to snatch her away from Lucien’s hand, but didn’t.
"She’s scared of losing her loved ones because she knows how easy it is to lose everything she loves in that goddamn mansion."
Lucien paused and didn’t say anything further. He could’ve said what he had been holding all this time.
But Seraphina didn’t like him talking in such a tone to her brothers, who were nothing in front of him.
Even if she was almost unconscious, he couldn’t simply break her trust.
Lucien exhaled and looked away, trying to steady the fire in his chest. "Let her rest in the car for a while and talk outside."
Alistair didn’t want to see Lucien’s face, let alone talk to him. His blood boiled just standing there. But his instinct told him that Lucien might have something to say. So, he stayed.
Lucien didn’t spare him another glance. His attention was on Sera.
He only moved when Sera stopped shaking and was asleep now, after getting tired of the panic episode.
He leaned back and helped her rest on the seat, brushing her hair from her face without a word. Then he took off his blazer and covered her with it, tucking it around her gently.
Seraphina flinched for a second, losing the warmth. But the moment the scent of his jacket wrapped around her, her body relaxed.
Alistair saw it too from the outside and felt angry.
He was angry that he wasn’t the source of comfort that Sera was receiving.
"Let’s talk," Lucien said, walking toward Alistair.
"How’s she?" Alistair ignored him and asked as his gaze was fixed on his sister.
"She is fine," Lucien replied, looking back at Sera.
"What is it that you wanted to talk about?" Alistair turned his attention to Lucien. "And what is wrong with her? What happened? Was she mad at me?"
Lucien pinched between his brows as Alistair’s questions rained down on him.
"No! I called her out," Lucien replied simply, and before Alistair could say anything, he continued. "I had a nightmare where she was in trouble."
"Excuse me?" Alistair’s eyes widened in shock. "Why the hell are you having a dream about my sister in the first place?"
Lucien ignored Alistair’s stupid question and asked. "Is there someone your sister liked?"
"What?" Alistair gritted his teeth. ’How dare he ask such a question after stealing my sister’s heart?’
He really wanted to throw a punch now.
"Why are you asking?" He asked and then added. "Aren’t you closer to her than I? So, how come you don’t even know that?"
"Sure, I know she likes me, but I’m talking about the past!"
