Spoiled By My Brothers: Return of The Lost Heiress
Chapter 122: The Mysterious Diary!
CHAPTER 122: THE MYSTERIOUS DIARY!
Emma’s POV
I really wanted to see Sera that day. My heart wouldn’t stop racing. Maybe it was just nerves, or my sixth sense warning me again. I masked it under the excuse of checking in about our studies, but something didn’t feel right.
And then when Lia called, I knew... something had happened.
Why else would she call me out of the blue, and why call me at such a crucial moment?
Because she and I had bonded once, during a visit to Sera’s place. We’d exchanged numbers. Just in case... something ever went wrong, she’d promised to let me know.
After all, it had happened so many times that I had lost count. And I didn’t know what was so good about that place that Sera kept going back!
I could have just let her live with me! Even though I was not as wealthy as Lancasters but I sure was richer in the matter of heart.
I had casually exchanged the number and didn’t expect that "just in case" would come so soon.
Not even a month had passed, and now Lia was sobbing into the phone in a trembling voice, telling me everything.
I didn’t tell my parents what had happened. I just dashed out of my house, grabbing the car keys.
But I didn’t expect to see Sera in such a condition yet again.
Sera—
She looked wouned to the point that even I was feeling hurt for her.
What kind of hell was that mansion? Every time she went back there, she came out worse and more broken than before.
I didn’t ask her much. I just listened, helped her, and did what she wanted.
She said she didn’t want to go back and that she’d rather stay at my cousin’s place. I agreed of course! They didn’t deserve her. No one did.
But my cousin’s place wasn’t enough. Sera didn’t have clothes. Her exams were coming up, and she didn’t even have her study materials.
So while she was getting treated, I went back to the dorms.
I pretended that I was there to get my stuff.
But I was gathering hers in case she might need them when she woke up.
However, unbeknownst to me, a small diary had slipped out of Sera’s cupboard and fallen into the bag I was preparing for her.
I didn’t notice it at the time. I was too focused, just grabbing whatever I could.
It wasn’t until later that night, when I was sorting her things, that I noticed it tucked beneath her hoodie.
At first, I thought it was just a notebook or doodles she used to do in her past time.
But when I opened it, just to check... My breath caught in my throat.
"What’s all this...?" I murmured, my voice barely leaving my lips as I glanced at Sera lying lifelessly, unconscious on the bed.
I lowered my eyes back to the pages, but my fingers hesitated.
The more I read, the more everything.... the more my head spun
Just what the hell was that!
I knew it wasn’t right. I shouldn’t touch what wasn’t mine, let alone read it.
But I didn’t mean it. I had only opened it to check what it was and take a quick glance before putting it where it belonged.
At first, she had mentioned dates on the pages, but later, it became a novel.
Sera had written a lot of things about how her life was hell in that mansion, and even Asher wouldn’t look at her.
How her own birth mother hated her and Melissa... She did those horrible things to her, and on her 18th birthday, she was taken to the mental hospital and lived there for a few years before she was rescued.
I frowned my brows as doubts started to surface in my clouded mind.
The things she wrote later had never happened in her life. She even wrote how cruel Melissa had been to the point that she never killed me for helping Sera.
My hands were trembling, thinking that not only I but my whole family was eradicated.
Just what the hell was going through her mind while she wrote all these things?
’Is she going through depression or something?’ I thought to myself and turned more pages of the diary.
But I stopped at the dates she had written.
The story she had written might be her imagination, but what about these things?
And what about her child?
Tears started spilling out of my eyes as it was too heartwrenching to read, where Sera was alone and died of cancer in the end.
However, there was a question mark in the end and...
She had later mentioned that what she wrote might not be the entire truth. Her memories of the past life...
Yes, she had mentioned the memories of ’the past life.’ It wasn’t accurate.
There were some things that she couldn’t remember properly, and there were things that had not happened in this life but still seemed to have happened.
Initially, it all seemed like a fantasy novel to me, but now that I noticed her behaviour and the way she acted these past few months, indeed, something had changed in her.
She wasn’t the introvert and autistic person she used to be. She wasn’t shy anymore and stood up for herself boldly.
I started connecting dots on how she asked me to stay away from her and not let anyone know that I was her friend, especially Melissa.
Was it because of what happened to me that she was scared?
However, her fear wasn’t wrong! I was threatened by a group of people to stay away from Seraphina six months ago, but I had ignored it.
I glanced at Sera, closing the diary.
I still couldn’t believe what was written in it but... If she were to tell me that all these things were real... I wouldn’t question her.
Because I had seen the tear stains on the pages, which proved that how much pain she was in when she wrote about certain things such as...
