Spy-x-War Showdown
Chapter 1412: 1407: Just Relying on This
Chapter 1412: Chapter 1407: Just Relying on This
The plane landed, and of course Yang Yi and the others took the special passage, got into a car that drove straight to the runway, and then flashed police lights all the way at the fastest speed to CIA headquarters.
Porter was just short of greeting them at the door.
This crisis was invisible; as long as Ivan hadn’t detonated the nuclear bomb, no matter how tense the situation was, it was an invisible crisis. So this wasn’t like dealing with a crisis that had already happened, everyone had to run to show their urgency.
So, no matter how many people were secretly in turmoil like a pot of porridge, anxious like ants on a hot pan, the exterior still appeared peaceful. After all, there weren’t many people at the CIA qualified to know what the crisis was, and even if there were, it was unlikely they would remain at headquarters at this time.
Yang Yi and Walter entered Porter’s office at the fastest speed, and after Walter picked up the report, Porter only glanced at it a few times, then put the written report down and said urgently, “Tell me your judgment results.”
Yang Yi didn’t open his mouth; Walter spoke first.
“According to my judgment, Ivan won’t use the nuclear bomb. Uli Yangke also has no intention of using the nuclear bomb and is willing to help stop Ivan wholeheartedly, but Ivan himself doesn’t want to use it either. As long as we give him an explanation, the nuclear crisis won’t erupt; it will only exist but not erupt.”
Walter finished speaking. He could explain more clearly, just letting Yang Yi add a bit would suffice, but after Walter finished, he looked at Yang Yi, indicating for Yang Yi to speak.
Yang Yi followed, “Yes, my judgment is the same. To reiterate, if Ivan wanted to use nuclear weapons, he wouldn’t wait until now, and wouldn’t meet us. My purpose is only to get Ivan to promise not to use nuclear weapons, but promises are powerless. I’m very glad Walter insisted on having Ivan present a nuclear bomb as a show of sincerity.”
Porter nodded repeatedly, “That’s right, the role of this nuclear bomb is too significant, too significant. Without this nuclear bomb, it’s hard for us to explain to others. Although it’s only one and only one of the nuclear bombs, it was seized by us, not the Department of Homeland Security or the FBI. Now isn’t the time for power struggles, but we can’t let others reap the benefits after we’ve done the work. This time I want to see what the Department of Homeland Security has to say. Of course, the premise is that we really can seize that nuclear bomb.”
Walter smiled, “Don’t worry, sir. Sea God did it beautifully this time. He made full use of his good friendships with the underground world. Uli Yangke and Ivan both trust him because Sea God used the rules of the underground world to handle this crisis. He’s done an amazing job.”
Yang Yi exhaled and said, “Without that nuclear bomb, everything I did wouldn’t mean anything.”
Walter shook his head repeatedly, “Don’t joke. If you hadn’t created the opportunity, how could I possibly negotiate with Ivan?”
Porter waved his hand, “You both did well. I’ve already reported your negotiation results. Well, overall it still needs to wait until the nuclear bomb is seized to completely prove your achievements. But for now, overall, the situation is moving in an optimistic direction.”
What Porter said was very cautious, but understandably so—they wouldn’t speak too directly. In fact, he was already quite direct in front of Yang Yi and Walter.
Yang Yi whispered, “Through this nuclear bomb, we get so many clues, like where it’s hidden, who’s guarding it; all these can be investigated. I believe Big Ivan’s method of hiding nuclear bombs surely has similarities, and since Ivan just took over, it’s unlikely he’d quickly change the hiding method, so we have a chance to find all the nuclear bombs.”
Porter nodded repeatedly, then he said to Walter, “Well done, very well done. So, how should the subsequent negotiations proceed—do you have any ideas?”
Walter immediately said to Porter, “Sir, how to negotiate next, we can only rely on Sea God.”
“Oh? How come?”
Walter said helplessly, “Because I’ve thoroughly angered Ivan. He couldn’t possibly see me again, but there’s good news—well, Ivan is willing to continue contact with Sea God, and only with Sea God, so there’s no need to worry about the Department of Homeland Security or any unit sending representatives for negotiation; Ivan absolutely won’t see them.”
Porter took a breath, swung a finger back and forth for a long time, then nodded, “Well, I see.”
Besides Yang Yi, Ivan doesn’t contact anyone; isn’t this just the CIA being the only ones able to get in touch with Ivan? What’s this? This is exclusivity.
So for Yang Yi and the CIA, this is all good news. Yang Yi doesn’t need to worry about competition within the CIA, and the CIA doesn’t need to worry about competition from other departments.
Porter picked up the report again and said softly, “I’ll send the report up. You prepare yourselves; there might be…after the nuclear bomb is seized.”
The phone rang, Porter answered, and said solemnly, “Yes, they’ve returned. The report is in my hands, yes, Mr. President.”
After hanging up, Porter waved the report in his hand, “The President wants to see you. Now come with me to meet the President. Remember, well… never mind, we’ll talk on the way.”
Yang Yi hurriedly changed into a suit, pinning a badge to his chest that represented his identity. However, this badge didn’t show his name or position or anything. It just represented that he could meet the President, most importantly, it symbolized that he was with the CIA.
On the way, Porter told Walter and Yang Yi how to speak when meeting the President, what to pay attention to, and similar matters.
Then, Yang Yi and Walter followed Porter into the White House, though they didn’t enter the famous Oval Office.
They were arranged to wait in a slightly smaller room, and Porter first took the report and left. Shortly after, the President of the United States entered the room surrounded by several people.
“It’s these two who contacted and completed negotiations with Ivan, Mr. President. Both my agents and the entire analysis team believe Ivan is unlikely to use nuclear bombs.”
The President nodded, then he extended his hand to shake hands with Walter, and next offered his hand to Yang Yi.
While shaking hands with the President, Yang Yi’s feelings were very complicated, indeed, very very complicated.
After the handshake, the President said warmly, “Thank you for everything you’ve done. Now please tell me, are you sure our crisis has been alleviated?”
Walter nodded and said seriously, “Yes, Mr. President.”
The President looked at Yang Yi, who said resolutely, “Yes, Mr. President, we both think this crisis has been fully resolved.”
At this moment, a person in a suit behind suddenly said, “How can you guarantee the crisis is resolved? What gives you the certainty to guarantee this?”
Walter hesitated slightly, but Yang Yi was resolute and said without hesitation, “Because we negotiated, because we’re very professional, we have enough qualification to assess the true intentions of the negotiating party, so we’ve made a judgment, sir.”
