CHAPTER 307: VENOM KING’S COIL

"Ah?" Arya was confused.

"Just a little dress-up." Ellora laughed, stepping onto the teleportation circle. "Are you coming?"

Arya gulped and then quickly followed. She actually preferred this version of the vampire more, as it was far less intimidating, but she did not dare say it out loud, as it would be too rude.

The two of them shortly left the place, vanishing in a flash of red light. The teleportation circle pulsed a couple of times before completely disappearing from the spot.

Damon observed this from a distance and helplessly shook his head. He had made two polar opposite women work together and had a feeling that this was not going to end as he expected, but desperate times called for desperate measures. Maybe both would be better off in the end from this experience.

"Nah. Probably not." Damon let out a sigh and chuckled. He then continued walking and blinking to the Blood Hall, reaching the place in a couple of seconds. He still had more things to take care of before setting out to the Blood Lands, and he needed to make every second count.

"Varnyx, can you help me set up one more training chamber? Same setting as before?"

"Greetings, my Lord." Varnyx stopped for a moment from the busy dance he was doing and bowed to Damon. "Another training chamber, my Lord? With the time dilation?"

"Yup."

Varnyx paused for a moment and asked again. "Are you sure, my Lord? It is not advised to repeatedly use time dilation training chambers in such short intervals. The temporal strain on your soul has not yet fully stabilized. Overuse could lead to temporal backlash."

"Don’t worry. Just a couple more hours. I will not overdo it."

"If you say so, my Lord." Varnyx did not argue and immediately started working on preparing the training chamber again. It was ready in a few minutes.

Damon stepped into the center, flexing his fingers and rotating his neck with a few sharp cracks. Time for another training session. Probably his last one before he stepped into the blood lands. He had to make this one count.

Damon made himself comfortable and sat down. But before he started tinkering with his long list of skills again, he first took out the ice affinity elixirs that Arya had finished concocting. He laid them out before him in a neat semicircle.

Each vial glimmered faintly with a pale blue sheen, tiny frost patterns forming on the outside of the glass as if the elixirs themselves were alive with cold intent.

Damon examined them with narrowed eyes. Arya’s technique had improved again, he could feel it just from the mana density and stability in each potion. The girl was progressing frighteningly fast.

He picked one up and uncorked it with a soft hiss. A burst of cold air tickled his senses, and he downed it without hesitation. Instantly, a sharp chill coursed through his veins.

A couple of seconds passed by when he received the system notifications confirming the upgrade.

"Again, huh? These elixirs are pretty great."

In all honesty Damon did not expect an increase because he had already gone down to the sixth threshold back in the trial area, the black pool. His ice affinity and resistance had increased quite a bit there. It was surprising the frost pearls still had the ability to increase his affinity further.

"Let’s see how much I can get from these." He took the next vial and then downed it just as swiftly, the chill intensifying within his core like a creeping frostbite but controlled, elegant, and deeply invigorating.

Damon could feel his mana circuits reacting more readily now, adapting to the icy mana. His breath misted in the air as his body began subtly attuning itself to the element.

Once the felt the elixir settle in his body and the next set of notifications appeared, he once again took another vial and emptied it. He continued, drinking vial after vial, careful to pace himself and observed how each reacted with his internal flow.

He finally stopped when he finished eighteen of the twenty vials. He did not notice any change after the last vial and no system notification appeared. "That’s the limit then," Damon murmured, licking the last traces of the elixir from his lips.

There was no point in drinking any more of these elixirs. They were not going to give him any more boosts. He carefully put them back again.

Kate had told him it was a surprise but he could already smell it in her blood. That girl was upgrading her ice affiinity as well and these could be pretty useful for her. Two of these elixirs was definitely not enough but if he was not wrong, then Arya should soon be ready with more.

He slipped the two vials into his inventory and then took out the next item he had planned to examine, the black ring he had obtained from the snake shrine, hopefully the personal ring of the Venom King.

At least Damon wanted it to be because then there was a chance it could have many invaluable items. Damon still remembered the powerful aura from the man. He was a figure akin to a god and one could only imagine what a god’s personal ring could have.

Damon quickly allowed a drop of his blood to fall on the ring. The next moment he no longer felt any rejection from the ring and he could use his consciousness to freely examine its internal space.

A sharp pulse spread through his mind, and he found himself staring into an inner world shrouded in dark green mist. Unlike most spatial rings, this one had an eerie atmosphere, a particularly poisonous atmosphere.

"Fuck!" Damon cursed out loud unable to believe what he was reading.

A legendary ring! He had actually managed to obtain a legendary ring and that too with an evolution potential!

"Wait, does this one have an item spirit just like Blood Reign?"
