Damon’s heart raced as he took in the staggering details, his fingers tightening instinctively around the cold metal band. The ring looked simple enough, but nothing about it was simple. What the heck were these effects?
This wasn’t just a powerful accessory! It was a legacy artifact soaked in the blood and ambition of a god-slayer. The [Venom King’s Coil] didn’t just support poison builds, it amplified them, twisted them, and evolved them.
The last effect was the most important one. It granted a 40% success rate, which was basically a cheat. Just a few hours before, Damon was disappointed with the crappy version of Philosopher’s Stone, but this ring right here wasn’t this pretty much the same? A philosopher’s stone in ring form!
Moreover, the ring wasn’t even fully unlocked!
Damon could only imagine the effects if the thing were completely unlocked and upgraded. And then there was the Coil Realm.
"A hidden spatial dimension infused with toxic spiritual energy..." Damon re-read the details. "That’s not just a vault... that’s a damn training ground. Or a forge. Or..." His voice trailed off, pupils narrowing slightly. Or maybe even a whole world. Whatever it was, he wanted it!
There were also the Fang of Dominion and the Serpent’s Wake, which were sealed. "Tch." He clicked his tongue and immediately equipped it. "What poison should I put in first?" He wanted to test out the Toxin Sanctum, but currently the only poison in his possession was...
"Well, it’s worth a try." Damon took out a vial and the next second placed the vial close to his mouth and ... Hak... Hak... spat right into it. Seeing a good amount of saliva fill up the vial, he proudly placed the vial into the ring.
"My master’s legacy... to see it being used in such a way..." A voice suddenly sounded next to him.
Damon froze. Wasn’t this the same voice of that veiled woman from back in the legacy? His head whipped toward the source of the voice, and there, hovering a few feet off the ground, was a translucent green serpent with multiple spectral heads.
Each one shimmered with venomous energy, eyes glowing like twin viridian moons. Its form was elegant and eerie, a perfect blend of grace and lethal malice. The mist in the training chamber instantly thickened with spiritual toxicity.
"I was half-kidding about an item spirit..." Damon muttered, shocked by what he was seeing. Now that he thought about it, did every legendary item have an item spirit?
"I am not an item spirit," the serpent hissed, one head curling toward him. "I am what remains of His Majesty’s soul fragment. The Venom King himself tore away part of his essence to preserve this ring. You are its new bearer... but your disrespect is a blasphemy I should dissolve you for."
Damon blinked. Then grinned. "Relax. That’s not just any spit. That’s mine. I’m... unique."
All five heads stared at him in stunned silence. Then, the serpent groaned.
"I have finished one complete cycle of the Nine-"
"I know that. I personally saw you do that. I just did not think you would be so proud of just that meagre achievement! You are my master’s heir, and yet your thoughts are so limited?"
Damon’s face twitched, but he did not say anything to that blatant insult. If he allowed this woman, he was sure that the lunatic was going to continue singing praises of the Venom King for the foreseeable future. He did not want to waste his limited time on that.
"Do you think you could help me access that space domain linked to the ring?" Damon tried probing.
The spectral serpent turned slowly, coils flickering like smoke in the stagnant mana haze. Its five heads narrowed their viridian eyes in tandem, scrutinizing Damon like a half-rotten fruit masquerading as a divine offering.
"You?" one of the heads scoffed. "The gate to the Coil Realm only opens to those who’ve embraced true venom, not just as a weapon, but as a philosophy. Your body may carry blood potent enough to trigger its pulse, but your mind?" The head drifted closer, almost nose-to-nose with him. "Still soft."
Damon didn’t flinch. "Yet the ring accepted me. I got your master’s legacy. Isn’t that enough?"
The serpent reared back slightly, tension rippling through its translucent form. "...It speaks of potential. Nothing more. Power without purpose is rot. You need a vision. A creed."
"A creed?" Damon looked at the snake blankly. "What the hell do you mean by creed?"
For a moment, the snake seemed as if she was going to answer, but the next second, she loudly hissed and then disappeared as smoke into the ring.
Damon could only watch the whole thing. What the heck? He had three item spirits so far, and all three of them were equally uncooperative!
At least Blood Reign actually wanted to help him, and the poor woman was now out of commission. La Rocha and this woman were both simply outright hostile to him, one being a snake in disguise and the other being an actual snake!
Legendary items were really not simple at all.
