CHAPTER 120: XALVURETH, THE DEMON KING OF DECAY

Ainsworth remembered that Gabriel Cross’s betrayal had caused a global commotion, not because it was very rare for humans to betray Earth. But due to the traitor being one of humanity’s most promising prodigies at that time.

To prevent any future prodigies from going down the same path of treachery, the Global Alliance and Awakener Association went all out in assassinating Gabriel Cross, and they succeeded.

As for why Ainsworth remembered a dead guy like him, it was due to his sister being somewhat in the same year as Gabriel Cross and even fighting against him.

Like him, his sister Kyla had also represented Edenbridge High, and she still won against Gabriel Cross as well as against another Rank 1 prodigy from Valebreak Citadel. However, she admitted that if not for her existence, Gabriel would have been the strongest in that school year.

’It’s quite ironic that both of the most promising prodigies in that year had either died or been crippled. Otherwise, Gabriel and Kyla would have long become an SS-rank Awakener to this day if they hadn’t died or been crippled.’

’Although Gabriel’s betrayal due to loving a demon princess sounds absurd, my previous self seems to remember his death due to that aspect of him. After all, that demon princess was indeed breathtakingly gorgeous, only slightly inferior to Elyndra.’

’As someone who also believes in love, I quite agree with his betrayal. Anyway, if Elyndra betrayed humanity, I’d gladly accompany her. With that thought in mind, Ainsworth only had two options left, which were to either get the God-Level Assassin talent or the God-Level Dancer talent.

Needless to say, he chose Choice 2, and after receiving the choice rewards, he used them to acquire the God-Level Assassin talent.

Unless he was hit on the head or woke up on the wrong side of the bed, he wouldn’t choose the God-Level Dancer talent, as it’s too mediocre.

Although with the God-Level proficiency, a Dancer talent would undoubtedly include footwork or even incorporate dancing into combat and whatnot, it still wouldn’t be enough to be chosen in favor of the God-Level Assassin talent.

After all, the God-Level Assassin talent was very powerful as it not only gave him countless assassin techniques and even footwork suited for it, but it also gave him an innate ability of presence concealment.

In other words, even without using aura or mana, he could easily hide his presence whenever he wanted to. The God-Level Assassin talent made it so that if he ever chose to, he would be able to blend in or hide in whatever environment or place he was in.

There were other benefits he got from it that Ainsworth found very useful, such as knowledge and experience in creating hidden weapons or poisons that could assist in assassination.

Anything that was related to being an assassin, Ainsworth reached God-Level proficiency and talent in it.

’Now, I can either fight like that of a chef dicing up ingredients, or that of an assassin concealing his presence and killing his target before they even knew they died.’

’Of course, both of those fighting styles don’t conflict, as I can even use them to assassinate a dragon and know where to cut it to kill it instantly without affecting the quality of the ingredient.’

Aside from that, Ainsworth knew that with the addition of the God-Level Assassin talent, his Choice 2 requirement of concealing his presence to seriously injure or defeat the SSS-rank Ancient Space Dragon or Demon King was as good as completed.

It was already in the bag, as with the God-Level Assassin talent, Ultimate Freedom (SSS), Freedom Of Movement (SSS), and Unremarkable Presence (SS), Ainsworth was confident in even entering a female-only hot spring without getting caught.

And that confidence still stood even if all those women in the hot spring were SSS-rank powerhouses.

Of course, while Ainsworth could use his talents and power for debauchery, he wouldn’t, as it was against his bottom line. But it went to show that with how exaggerated his skill in concealing presence, no one would be able to find him even if he danced in the streets naked.

With confidence brought by his newly acquired God-Level Assassin talent, Ainsworth started his preparations as he muttered, "Invisibility, Presence Concealment, Heat Hiding, Camouflage, Chameleon, Concealment, Presence Suppression..."

To start it off, Ainsworth used all the superpowers he had in his internal archive that could hide his presence and make him invisible.

Afterward, he used Unremarkable Presence (SS) before using Ultimate Freedom (SSS) to amplify the effects of his concealment superpowers. It even granted him the "freedom to hide his presence and identity" temporarily.

With all preparations completed, Ainsworth hid in the void using Freedom Of Movement while heading to where the SSS-rank Ancient Space Dragon was.

He mused, ’With all these buffs, no one under X-rank can find my presence. If those damn demon kings can still find me, then I might as well not have the system if I was that useless!’

With that thought in mind, Ainsworth continued heading to where the SSS-rank Awakener was being besieged, traversing the void while he hid his presence.

In a faraway continent in the Monster World, a monster tide had occurred.

In this environment filled with nothing but sheer cold, blanketed in the hue of white snow, countless monsters inhabiting the frigid wilderness were seen fleeing.

The ground trembled as beast after beast surged away from something far more terrifying than them. S-rank monsters sprinted like frightened prey while A-ranks followed behind in disarray, tripping over one another as they scrambled for safety.

They weren’t stampeding toward a target. They were running from it.

The sky above this frozen battlefield darkened as three enormous figures clashed against a lone human in the distance.

Two SSS-rank Demon Kings had joined forces with a towering SSS-rank Ancient Space Dragon, whose very presence bent space unnaturally with each movement. They attacked relentlessly, showing no intention of letting their prey catch a break.

The Demon King of Decay, Xalvureth, waved its skeletal hand and used its demonic magic, "Death Grasp!"
