CHAPTER 71: TRUE FUNCTION OF NANO BIONIC BOTS

Nano Bionic Bot Summon (S): a Summon skill that allowed Ethan to command millions of micro-sized bots to carry out various tasks.

It could heal, it could build, it could repair — except in battle, it was very useful in all areas of life.

But it was during this perilous situation, under pressure, that Ethan was forced to think outside the box.

These nano bots were called Nano Bionic. What was "bionic"? It was a simple word that relayed both technology and biology.

So it had him thinking — what if his Nano Bionic bots’ ability to build weapons, repair, and even construct buildings were all a side effect of their main ability?

What if Nano Bionic bots were meant for body enhancement and evolution?

Was this theory crazy? Yes, absurdly so. After all, it would mean this summoning ability of his was more powerful than imagined.

And if he was right, there was more to the rest of his skills than their descriptions entailed.

But regardless, he had to try and see for himself — and he did.

He synced his mental wave with the Nano Bionics and submerged a total of 999,999,999 into Dio’s system.

And he felt it — the instant shift, the urge the Bionic bots had to fuse with the system they were in. So he naturally let it happen. With delicate direction, he integrated the nano bots into Dio’s system slowly and carefully.

Even while being tortured by Varyk, he didn’t waver — his eyes glinting with fierce determination to see it through.

And so he unknowingly and silently instigated the evolution of Dio.

Arghhh! He let out a loud grunt as he couldn’t hold it together anymore. The influx of pain was too much, and so his hold over the Nano Bionic bots slipped — not because he was too weak or distracted to hold it any longer.

No — his connection slipped and was barred for life because these nano bots were no longer his summons. He no longer had any control over them. They were now a part of another’s system.

A weak, bloodied smile graced his lips.

"Hahahaha! Have you gone mad from the pain? Can’t stay tough anymore?

All you have to do is plead!" The viscous emerald gaze of Varyk flickered with brutal satisfaction as he ripped off Ethan’s final limb.

Opening one of his bloodied maws, he inserted the last foot and slowly munched, savoring the juicy flavor.

Hm? Varyk noticed a faint whisper from his limbless prey.

Bending and putting his ear closer, he asked with a sick smile, "What did you say?" Inwardly, he was pleased with himself — breaking this creature was so satisfying, he mused.

And Ethan’s lips moved again. "Don’t... just... stand... there... you... fool!" His voice was as faint as an insect.

Varyk’s expression shifted from confusion to faint realization. His ears perked up as he detected faint movements.

"Ahh, the other is back up... But to what use? I can still reduce him to a pulp with a slap! So sorry to say, but placing your hopes on him was a mistake." Varyk scoffed disdainfully.

In response, Ethan let out a weak smile.

Boom!

An overwhelming force rammed straight into Varyk — three out of eighteen arms were crushed on impact as his sorry figure was flung out of sight from the sheer force.

Standing in his place was Dio, his legs still in the air from the act of kicking Varyk away.

His figure had undergone fundamental changes. For one, his once emerald-beaded scales had now smoothed out into brilliant gold. He was in his full transformation state, but he wasn’t as huge as before.

And aside from that, there were other non-visible changes. His strength, speed, and constitution had been bolstered beyond their previous heights. And something else — his ether unit had mutated.

[Dragon Force (Mutated!): 200]

Also, he could feel something new in his system — something that didn’t exist there before. Strange organisms now dwelled in his bloodstream, intricately connected to his soul. Like small super builders, they were alert — ready to enhance and fix at a moment’s notice.

This was similar to... He glanced at Ethan’s bloodied, limbless figure.

An uncontrollable rage germinated in his heart. That bastard — he took his time to make sure Ethan felt miserable.

His hands clenched tightly, his claws scraping against his impenetrable metallic scales.

"T-took... you... long... enough." Ethan cracked a smile weakly, blood leaking from the sides of his mouth.

Dio felt melancholic. He might not have known Ethan for long, but it was clear the guy was the reason behind his mysterious evolution.

"Sigh... I’m sorry." Dio didn’t know what else to say, as he could already guess the guy was on his last legs.

"Hehehe! Cough! Cough!" Ethan choked on his weak laughter. "Don’t you get all soft on me. I’m not that easy to kill... I just need you to buy me time..."

Dio’s eyes brightened on learning there was hope, and he nodded solemnly. "Rest easy. I’ll make sure that hideous wretch doesn’t come close to you."

"Ahhh, you’re calling me hideous now? I thought we bonded quite nicely..." A familiar eldritch cacophony of whisper-like voices rang out.

Dio frowned. Varyk was back.

Ethan’s eyes glinted as he exhausted every last bit of his remaining mental wave in summoning as many Nano Bionic bots as he could.

And like a swarm of bees, the nano bots surged toward their summoner’s frame, engulfing him like a mini tornado.

Dio stood before this phenomenon, his cold, hard gaze trained on the looming abhorrent figure of Varyk.

"That kick just now felt harder than usual," Varyk analyzed as he took steady steps toward Dio, his three mangled arms slowly snapping back into place.

As his figure grew larger subtly, his aura grew denser and deadlier. He once gave a lax feeling, but now Dio could feel the brutally cold seriousness of Varyk.

The cold determination of the Finger to kill clouded the atmosphere as a shadowy force of corruption cloaked its figure.

"I was warned about my bad habit of playing with my food. You see, situations where the foe suddenly awakens a quite staggering power mid-fun happen from time to time.

I can see that’s what is going on with you."

When it reached this point in its speech, all mouths across its figure split into a deadly smile as it continued:

"That awakening is useless on me though. Among all the six present Fingers, I’m one of the few three who can project a fraction of their abilities through this fragile avatar.

And let me tell you — before indomitable strength, no matter what sudden power you gain, it will be hopeless."
