CHAPTER 31: FIRST USE OF TRANSCENDENT SKILL
Because of the rumors surrounding the Thousand Soul Flag, nearly every major faction in the city had turned their eyes toward the Blood Fang Gang. So when the gang leaders in the shadows sensed the rapid mobilization of Blood Fang’s enforcers—along with Vice Head Zhang personally taking action—they instantly realized something major was about to unfold.
No one wanted to miss such a show.
High above, standing atop a grand courtyard terrace, Sui Zheng quietly observed the distant scene. Even though the Phoenix and Dragon Dojo was hundreds of meters away, his sight was unhindered—such was the power of a Foundation Establishment cultivator who had awakened his inner spiritual space.
What is that Blood Fang Gang up to now?
According to his network of informants, the city’s nobles had already issued strict orders for every gang to stay quiet. An envoy of great importance from overseas was scheduled to arrive—someone rumored to be capable of helping the city withstand the coming demon invasion. If those negotiations went smoothly, it could change the tide of history itself.
So why, then, was the Blood Fang Gang causing such chaos now?
Everything had seemed normal at first. But just as Sui Zheng began losing interest, a deep, ancient voice suddenly echoed in his mind—a voice filled with rare shock.
"Who is that...? How can he carry the aura of transcendental laws upon him?"
Sui Zheng froze. The voice belonged to none other than the mysterious master sealed within the jade ring on his finger. For decades of spiritual companionship, that being had faced all manner of wonders and horrors—but never once had Sui Zheng heard such astonishment.
Startled, he immediately turned his gaze back toward the Phoenix and Dragon Dojo.
There, stepping through the swirling mist at its entrance, was a young man dressed in plain robes.
A youth at the peak of the Qi Refining Realm.
Sui Zheng frowned. That’s it? That’s who caught Master’s attention? His mind reeled. There was nothing remarkable about the boy’s aura. His spiritual presence was calm—too calm, almost mundane.
But before Sui Zheng could think further, the same aged voice sounded again, brimming with urgency.
"Go quickly! Take me to that young man!"
Sui Zheng blinked in disbelief. The mysterious master never issued direct orders—much less for trivial matters. The being was ancient, calculating, always speaking of cultivation insights or soul‑based treasures. Yet now, his tone brooked no refusal.
Something in that youth clearly defied reason.
Sui Zheng hesitated only a moment before a stream of spiritual qi surged beneath his feet, forming a shimmering cloud. With a faint hum, it carried him swiftly toward the Phoenix and Dragon Dojo.
Meanwhile, Wang Chen and Vice Head Zhang—each waiting for the other to make the first move—looked up at the same time.
A lone figure was descending through the sky, riding a cloud of condensed qi.
Their expressions shifted instantly.
"Damn! Reinforcements already?" Wang Chen muttered coldly. He recognized the man at once—Sui Zheng, the cunning leader of the Sharp Tooth Gang, another Foundation Establishment cultivator.
Vice Head Zhang’s pupils shrank. Don’t tell me this sly old fox also got word about the Thousand Soul Flag. Damn it... If he dares to interfere, it’ll be disastrous!
His brow twitched violently as he struggled to keep his composure.
Around them, Blood Fang’s henchmen exchanged uneasy glances. The arrival of Sui Zheng sent ripples of uncertainty through their ranks. Many of them sighed quietly—the tension that had been suffocating them eased ever so slightly.
"Isn’t that old Sui Zheng from the Sharp Tooth Gang?" one of them whispered. "What’s he doing here?"
"Could it be he’s here to stop us?" another muttered nervously.
"Relax," came a third voice. "With Vice Head Zhang here, no one can lay a hand on us."
Across the rooftops and streets, independent cultivators who had been watching the standoff for entertainment began to withdraw. Two of the city’s strongest gangs were facing each other now—the kind of confrontation that could level half the district. No one wanted to become collateral damage.
Vice Head Zhang ignored Wang Chen entirely, his glare fixed on Sui Zheng as tendrils of killing intent bled from his aura.
"What is the meaning of this, Gang Leader Sui? This is Blood Fang’s personal affair. Someone of your stature shouldn’t be meddling."
Wang Chen turned toward Sui Zheng as well, a mixture of curiosity and faint hope flashing in his eyes. Someone appearing to help him was rare—unprecedented, even.
His silent gaze seemed to ask, Who are you really?
Sui Zheng raised his hands immediately. "No need to misunderstand. I’ve no intention of interfering with Blood Fang’s business. I simply came to verify something."
His denial was firm, swift, and utterly sincere. No sane man would involve himself in Blood Fang’s internal matters—least of all with Vice Head Zhang present.
But before he could withdraw, the voice within the jade ring spoke again.
"Continue watching—but ensure no harm befalls that young man."
Sui Zheng nearly stumbled mid‑air. His face twitched as though he might cry any moment. Somehow, he managed to regain his composure before anyone noticed.
Internally, he cursed bitterly. Master! You may have given me cultivation, but that doesn’t mean I’ll throw my life away for you!
He clenched his jaw and stayed motionless, pretending calm.
Then, before he could finish the thought, a cold snort echoed in his mind. The sound alone made his knees nearly buckle.
Damn it—I forgot. He can read my thoughts!
An invisible pressure surged through his body. The air beneath his feet solidified like a bed of piercing steel thorns, every point threatening to drive him into the dirt.
And so, perspiring under the silent wrath of an ancient being, Sui Zheng forced himself to stand tall—doing his utmost to look like a calm observer while silently praying to every god he knew that the young man below would be worth the risk.
After confirming the newcomer was not a threat, Wang Chen gaze once again focused on VIce head Zhang, with an indifferent face he stated, "if you don’t start doing as i said.."
"..death is the only outcome,"
Sui Zheng who was forced to pay attention to the development couldn’t believe his ears and felt as if he had misheard.
Wang Chen had barely finished his words, when Vice Head Zhang finally lost it, throwing caution to the wind, he only saw blur when Wang Chen felt something cold on throat.
Die!
Sui Zheng although alert failed to keep up with Vice Head Zhang movement, he could only sigh internally there was nothing that he could do about it.
Li Mie, although she was busy treating Lin Huang but had attention had never left the fight.
She was only at the Peak Qi refining realm but in her vision, the sharp steel sword moved at slow pace.
However just as she was about to cry out, everyone present heard indifferent voice as if the words were engraved in their head.
"Chronoblade..!!"
