Chapter 37: Kind Wang Chen
CHAPTER 37: KIND WANG CHEN
Hundreds of kilometers away from the Imperial City, on a cliff overlooking a serene lake with crystal clear water, the air suddenly rippled as if heated to an unbearable temperature, causing it to expand rapidly. Loud explosions echoed everywhere, and the shockwave made the lake water ripple violently, sending gigantic waves rushing in all directions.
The few fishermen who were quietly spreading their nets were shocked by the sudden change and fled for their lives.
Boom!
A thick lightning bolt, as wide as an adult man’s waist, fell from the sky, directly striking the cliff surface and blasting open a gigantic hole. Large rocks, as big as a human head, were sent flying through the air, creating even more ripples in the already disturbed lake.
The serene, calming scenery was brutally ravaged, now looking like a scene straight out of an apocalypse.
Raging winds quickly tried to dispel the smoke, revealing the figure of a giant human—no, not a human. A human didn’t have horns growing out of their head, nor three vertical eyes filled with boundless arrogance.
The figure didn’t belong to a human but to a living, breathing demon.
As if each of the three eyeballs had a mind of its own, they slowly rotated, gathering all the information about their surroundings in the blink of an eye.
The next moment, as if satisfied by what it saw, a faint sneer appeared at the corner of the demon’s mouth.
"Good, very good. The qi concentration is sufficient for a large-scale teleportation to work properly."
Just then, as if noticing something, the demon’s eyes focused on one particular point in space some distance away. Slowly, the air rippled, revealing a figure with a willow-like waist and skin white as snow. A faint smirk curled over her cherry-pink lips as she looked at the three-eyed demon in the distance.
Without a doubt, the newcomer, this beautiful woman was also a demon.
Both these demons—one a member of the Succubus clan, known for their charm and illusion magic, and the other from the Three-Eye clan—had come to the human domain to scout the situation.
the female demons lips parted slightly, a sensual voice that could ignite the fire of desire even in the most iron-willed man echoed.
"It’s true, after the bloodline awakening, the members of the Three-Eye clan thrive with destruction. Just look at this place... judging by the atmosphere, it should have been a beautiful, serene scene."
Although it seemed the words were said without the intention to harm, they seemed to have hit the Three-Eye demon exactly where they were meant to. Instantly, his face turned slightly red as blood rushed downward, toward a very sensitive place.
Still, the Three-Eye demon wasn’t some random nobody. If he’d been sent into the human domain to scout the situation, he had to be strong. After a brief moment, he regained control of his body, and an angry look appeared on his face.
"Damn you, wretched succubus! Don’t you dare check my patience, or the next time what I’ll be destroying won’t be this cliff—but your rotten head instead!"
However, before he could finish speaking he felt something, his expression suddenly changed. Hurryingly, the demon turned his head in one particular direction.
Two lights could be seen tearing through the sky.
"Humans? How can they detect our arrival so fast? We should still be within the landing zone."
Before he could make sense of the situation, two flashes of light quickly grew larger until, in the blink of an eye, they were standing before them.
Slowly, the shock disappeared, and a bloodthirsty grin appeared on his face. "Good... that succubus had already ruined my mood. Now it’s time to slaughter some humans to calm my nerves."
Meanwhile, unaffected by his words, the succubus let out a teasing giggle, her entire body swaying as she tried to suppress the smirk on her face.
"Good. Playing around with these little demons is going to be fun... I definitely won’t be bored."
...
Song Po looked at the report in his hands and his face lost all color.
"Damn, why is the battlefield so close to the city?"
He had just received reports of demon appearances. Although they were scouts, there was something else that worried him.
Usually, the place where the demons first appeared would turn into the main battlefield.
This was something everyone knew—every battle would have one such unfortunate location—and this time, it just happened to be the city dominated by his Song family.
"Damn it, we’re finished. The heavens are so unfair. We’ve only held this city for a hundred years, how can this happen now?"
Given the sheer brutality of these wars, even if humanity managed to win—which was already highly unlikely—the city might still disappear.
Song Po’s face at that time was deathly pale, cold sweat rolling down his forehead.
"No... I can’t let this happen. There’s still one way out. I must win the Thousand Sword Sect’s support, no matter the cost."
Song Po gritted his teeth with slightly agitated emotion. "If everything goes according to plan, the envoy should be here by tomorrow morning. I must welcome him grandly."
...
Phoenix and Dragon Dojo.
Compared to the tension enveloping the rest of the city, the air in the dojo was calm. The Bodhi Tree, which had been charred black by lightning days ago, unexpectedly grew a green tender leaf today.
An event so shocking that even Wang Chen, who would normally laze around all day, was forced to get up and examine it with narrowed eyes.
Just one look and his left eye started to twitch intensely. "A very bad omen."
"I knew it. There’s something very fishy going on with this tree..."
Wang Chen almost jumped the gun and was ready to blast the tree’s soul into the shadow realm—and he did just that.
Taking a deep breath, he circulated his qi. At first, he wanted to go all out and blast this piece of wood into splinters, but sadly, he hesitated. Now that he thought about it, this tree had been one of his first companions in this new life, so his heart softened slightly—but not entirely.
"Given that you gave me shade during these few days, I will be magnanimous and only use ninety-nine percent of my strength."
Wang Chen couldn’t help but feel a little good inside. Although the world was against him, he was doing the right thing.
With that, he took a deep breath and punched.
A punch squarely at the middle of the charred trunk!
...’
Wang Chen’s eyes blinked rapidly, he looked around to see if anyone was looking in his direction. The air in the courtyard was slightly serene, both his disciples were busy in doing their own things.
He punched—but nothing happened. Although he had saved some of his strength, given his cultivation, if it was an ordinary tree, it should have long been blasted to ashes.
Slowly but steadily, his face paled.
