Chapter 164: I ain’t buying your bull...
Unlike the knights of noble houses, enforcer knights were a separate group or in a way, a type of sub-organization within the kingdom, acting as law enforcers who’s goal was to keep the kingdom in order.
Su Ping frowned when his illusion failed to take effect but he didn’t let his emotions get the better of him because he knew his strength was significantly lesser in his draconian form. If not because he found it hard to use the shape shift spell while in his dark wyvern form because of the huge size difference, he wouldn’t need to change into his dark wyvern form.
As for putting the man under a permanent illusion and warping his mind. Su Ping would need to undo the illusion surrounding himself and make the knight gaze into his eyes for a few seconds but that was easier said than done.
He knew that if he undid the illusion surrounding him, the man wouldn’t hesitate to spring into action and if he used the dark tentacle to bind him, that wouldn’t work because the man would be able to sense them before they reached him.
The Dark Sphere was also a possibility but, Su Ping wasn’t sure the man didn’t have any methods to instantly alert the other’s.
’ Tsk, Why is everything so complicated...’ Su Ping grumbled inwardly. He wished he could kill the man and get it over with.
He sighed inwardly before opening the room door door and stepping inside. Su Pings expression eased up when he saw Melinda and the kids on the bed huddled together with the 5 Death Knights surrounding the bed with their backs facing the three of them.
Su Ping conjured up some masse’s of darkness that spread throughout the room, acting as a second surface that coated the wooden walls, floor and ceiling, painting the room black.
The sight stunned the three of them but their expressions soon turned excited the next moment.
" Did anyone miss me." Su Ping smiled, undoing the illusion.
" Daddy!" Mel and Sal said with joy. Scampering off the bed towards him, Su Ping crouched down and picked them up, hugging them in his arms.
" Daddy, where were you.." Mel asked. " Some scary men came looking for you."
" Daddy was out working sweetie." Su Ping nuzzled her chest with his nose before saying." Did these scary men hurt you?"
" No, they just said they were looking for daddy." Mel shook her head and said.
" Daddy, are we in trouble... Are the scary men going to take you away." Sal asked, looking sad.
" No one’s taking anyone away." Melinda said, hugging them both before giving Sal a gentle kiss on the forehead. " You’re father just has to talk with them and they’ll leave, there’s nothing to worry about, ok sweetie."
" Ok, Mommy." Sal perked up, beaming a smile at his mother.
A grateful smile emerged on Su Ping’s face, Melinda saw her husband’s expression and chuckled before kissing him on the cheeks.
" I’m sure it’s just a misunderstanding, Besides, even if it is, I know you’ll fix it." She said, placing a stray luk of hair behind her ear.
Su Ping nodded, his irritated emotions subsiding greatly. He finally recalled why he was taking this complicated route in the first place.
’ All that matters is making sure they’re happy and won’t suffer from my actions. So long as I can do that, I don’t need to worry about anything else.’ Su Ping said to himself.
" Just give daddy a moment to talk with the men outside ok." Su Ping then dropped the kids on the bed. " I promise I won’t take long." Su Ping said before stepping outside, only this time without the illusion.
" When did you?" The enforcer knight leader froze when he saw him. ’ Was he hiding inside there the whole time?’ The enforcer knight leader hadn’t been able to check the room because of the 5 Death Knights, plus he took Melinda’s word that her husband had left and had even asked a few people within the inn who said the same thing.
’ If that’s the case, then how come he’s...’ The enforcer knight leader felt as if he couldn’t see through the person in front of him.
" If it’s ok with you, I’d like for us to talk somewhere more private." Su Ping said before letting out a breath as if he was trying hard to restrain himself and keep his urges at bey.
" Fine, Please stand still and don’t resist. Before we leave I’ll need to restrain you first." The enforcer knight reached behind him and pulled out a bracelet like object. Su Ping only took one glance to notice that the bracelet was a type of object that restrained ones magical power. That abd the way he felt the mana in the air being pushed back by it.
" I’m afraid I’ll have to decline." Su Ping said with a light smile. " From what I know, I don’t think anyone of you have any valid reason to take me into custody besides some suspicions, because if I was really proven guilty, you wouldn’t need to wait for me, you’d just force your way into my room and take my family hostage."
" So why don’t you just put that back where you got it from and accept my humble invitation." Su Pings smile slowly vanished, his face turning icy cold. " Unless I take it your trying to force me into defending myself against your unauthorized actions."
The enforcer knight unconsciously gulped down some saliva, he felt the atmosphere turning tense which he very much wanted to avoid.
" Alright, Please come with me." The enforcer knight finally gave in. He was confused why the supposed perpetrator would suddenly hand himself in but, since it was less work for him, he gestured for Su Ping to walk while he followed behind.
The sight of Su Ping being escorted down the stairs naturally didn’t go unnoticed by the inn’s patrons but Su Ping couldn’t care less.
He followed the enforcer knights out of the inn, all the way down to their station or how some criminals referred to it, their detention center.
" When I said I wanted a private place for us to talk this wasn’t what I had in mind." Su Pings vision was blocked by steel bar’s that demarcated the room they were in.
" I’m sorry sir but rules are rules. Until we find out that your not guilty of the charges being pressed against you. You’re going to have to stay in there for awhile." said the enforcer knight leader, Gerald.
’ Cocky bastard.’ Gerald snickered inwardly when he recalled how Su Ping had acted when he tried placing the mana suppression bracelet on him.
"Also, I’d suggest you don’t do anything stupid." Rugard walked up to the cell bars, knocking on them lightly. " These bars are made of orachalcum, they’re able to withstand full power attacks from a Lvl 3 units so I’m sure you understand what I’m trying to say."
" No need to look glum." Gerald smiled, grabbing a chair before sitting in front of Su Ping. " I’m still going to keep my word and lend you an ear, tell me all you want, because you might be here for a long long while."
’ This is hopeless...’ Su Ping felt the urge to punch the man in the face but took a deep breath to calm himself. ’ Playing the victim card probably isn’t going to work with these fools. If I want to clear my name, I need to first make sure they think there’s no way I could’ve been the one to commit that crime.’
[Dark Dragon Eyes]
"..?!!" Gerald’s eyes widened when Su Ping vanished before his eyes.
" Whatever trick your using, it’s not going to work here. Even if you can still use magic, there’s no way your getting out of that cell." Gerald stared at the cell with an astonished gaze but no matter how much he looked, Su Ping wasn’t in there.
Su Ping ignored the agitated enforcer knight, he walked up to the cell wall, clenched his fists and delivered a brutal punch.
BAM!
The frowned when he felt something sturdy in-between the wooden wall. The enforcer knight couldn’t see where he smashed but he still heard the hit which made him relieved.
" Don’t waste your time, this entire cell is constructed from orachalcum, it’s not just the bar’s." said the enforcer knight with a helpless sigh. " There’s no point in trying anything. Believe me, you’re not the first."
" Since you’re sure you didn’t commit that crime, then why don’t you just wait here till we clear your name. There’s no reason to make this more difficult than it has to be."
" You expect me to believe that?" Su Ping suddenly reappeared before his eyes within the cell.
" I understand your concern but trust me, Rose City’s enforcer knights aren’t like the rest, that I can assure you. After all, we have our captain who’s the embodiment of justice, there’s no way someone would be able to commit such a heinous crime and get away with it, with him around." Gerald said, his voice lasses with pride.
