Chapter 156 System
CHAPTER 156: CHAPTER 156 SYSTEM
Roman walked slowly through the academy grounds and past the library heading towards his usual training ground.
He had his hands in his pockets as he walked forward, and there was just one thing on his mind: tomorrow was the start of the Queen’s tournament.
The morning sun was already out, shining brightly as he made his way, this was the first sun he had seen in weeks. The sky was clear, a soft blue with no clouds in sight.
The initial tournament has been completed and he now knew his opponents, among them were Reina, Ava, Aurelia, Mira, and 5 other girls that Roman was getting to know.
Reina had seen a significant increase in her ability after the first week, when she managed to tame a horned wolf. She had three summons, which everyone knew about, and one she kept a secret even from Roman.
Mira, who was also a summoner, had the same increase but on a lower scale. Aurelia and Ava finally had the duel they wanted after a week, and surprisingly, Aurelia won, but a little luck was involved, so Ava wasn’t that angry about it.
But for Roman, at least, he had a small advantage since he now knew all of their abilities, but it didn’t matter much to him since his training had been going splendidly.
He walked down the path, his boots crunching lightly on the gravel mixed with sand and he finally arrived.
When he got to the door, he stopped for a second. Roman had spent too much time in this training room, and from tomorrow, everything would be put to the test.
Roman pushed the door open and stepped in.
As usual, Victoria was seated at the center of the training ground, but unlike before, the training ground now had wooden swords and arrows.
After practicing spells, Roman discovered he was a really good shot because of his hawk summon, which improved his eyesight at long distances, and he began testing that with an arrow before using his spell [Flame Arrow] and his recently acquired spell [Stone Bullet].
After the night when Victoria found out he could use multiple types of magic, the intensity of Roman’s training increased since Victoria wanted to keep him in the academy at all costs without exposing him.
Roman stats had also seen a significant improvement, but one fact remained: he still hadn’t slept with Victoria. It was like her brain was wired for training. Since that day, she hadn’t brought up the topic, and Roman didn’t want to bring it up.
But back in the dorm, things were different. Ava and Reina had reached a state of mutual agreement, and with that, multiple threesomes followed.
After the demon incident, Roman entered some kind of phase; he knew the best chance he had was to have sex with the girls, and he did without holding back.
In the 30 days leading up to now, Roman was doing just two things, training and having sex.
He still hasn’t been able to do anything with the princess, even though they had become even closer after the demon incident, and she had walked in on Roman having sex twice. She was just different from all the other girls.
Roman also had sex with Mira, Eve, Lily, and some other girls.
But back to training, Victoria also had an interest in training Ava and Reina because they are S-ranks, but for now, she was focused on Roman, and both of them could clearly see the results.
"Where have you been? I’ve been waiting for an hour," Victoria spoke from across the room, and Roman knew she was a little angry.
"I’m sorry, the girls kept me talking about the tournament" Roman spoke as he quickly walked forward.
After a week of training, he had mastered and wasn’t fazed by Victoria Mana’s pressure, so she had since stopped.
Their training was now longer and was made up of three phases: first was physical, which was dueling, where Roman had to fight her shadows; then, spell casting, where Roman learned new spells or mastered old ones; and last was meditation.
When Victoria increased the intensity of his training, Roman found out that his stats could increase without him having sex, for instance, as he got stronger, his strength naturally increased little by little, and he saw the increase in his stats.
"You do know tomorrow at this time you’ll be in the Royal palace, and you know you won’t be able to go all out because you’re an elemental mage with fire magic" Victoria spoke.
"Yes, but I can use illusion, and I have something I’d like to test," Roman replied.
"Alright, today you can only use flame magic, let’s start"
’System,’ Roman muttered as the screen appeared in front of him, and a smile formed on his face.

"Begin" Victoria spoke.
The moment the words left Victoria’s lips, she raised her hand.
A dark ripple spread out beneath her feet like ink bleeding through water.
From it she formed one of her shadow warriors, one which Roman was familiar with; it was by far her strongest shadow creation, a shadow which was able to cast spells like Victoria herself.
"Only flame spells. I want to see how far you can go with just that."
Roman didn’t reply. He simply walked to the center of the field and cracked his neck. The shadow mage’s presence was heavy; he could tell she infused a shit ton of Mana into this one.
"Alright... Let’s test this." Roman muttered under his breath.
The shadow surged forward, fast and silent like smoke and Roman raised a hand calmly.
[Flame Arrow]
A small arrow of fire materialized, and he shot it forward.
The shadow dodged effortlessly, warping around the arrow like liquid, then retaliated by launching a spike of darkness.
Roman stepped to the side, barely avoiding it.
"That’s fast," Roman muttered.
He pivoted and fired off a second and third [Flame Arrow] in rapid succession, but the shadow twisted its body unnaturally to dodge each one.
Victoria watched silently, arms folded, she was controlling the shadow, but it felt like she was watching a battle.
Roman narrowed his eyes.
"I guess I’ll try this now."
He held out his hand and whispered under his breath.
[Self Mirage] [Conceal]
This was Roman’s trump card for this tournament. With his knowledge of spells, he was able to blend his first illusion spell [Self Mirage] and [Conceal], not to create a new spell but to fool a group of people.
His spell [Self Mirage] created an image of himself to just one person, but Conceal was used to hide things. Roman reworked it to be able to hide a spell from one person, but it’ll be visible to everyone watching him.
For instance, he could shoot a [fireball], his opponent wouldn’t see the fireball, but everyone watching would see it. He had been trying it on his own.
Back to the battle.
Roman raised his other hand and acted like he was firing another [Flame Arrow] from the same position, but instead of a visible spell, he concealed another of his flame spells [Flame Burst].
Victoria knew something was up but had no idea what.
The shadow mage continued forward and wanted to cast a spell but then jerked backward as an explosion burst from its chest.
*BOOM!*
The hidden [Flame Burst] connected.
It wasn’t enough to destroy the shadow mage, but it was stunned as it staggered backwards, the smoke around it scattered, Roman knew if it was an actual human this would be game set match.
"Good," Victoria muttered with a hint of amusement.
"But you do know, if you use this people would know you’re an illusion mage?" Victoria spoke.
"It’s invisible to only my opponent; it’s visible to everyone else. You’re the one controlling the shadow, so I made it invisible to you, but if someone else were here, they would be able to see the spell," Roman replied.
"What? When did you learn that?" Victoria asked and Roman chuckled.
"Continue" She spoke.
The shadow mage immediately spun and hurled a volley of black spheres toward Roman. He jumped back, landing and rolling, barely avoiding them as they hit the ground.
As soon as he was up, he launched another [Flame Arrow], then concealed a second [Flame Burst] behind it.
The shadow blocked the visible arrow but didn’t react to the invisible blast behind it and once again it connected.
*BOOM!*
This time, the shadow lost an arm and staggered back, sizzling.
Roman smirked. He was getting the hang of it.
