CHAPTER 163: CHAPTER 163 DAY 1

The girls stole glances at Roman, but no one said anything. Only the sound of the wheels turning and the horses moving outside filled the silence.

Roman looked out the window, pretending not to notice the stares. He had never talked to any of them before, and this wasn’t exactly the best time to start.

He didn’t know which families the girls were from, and during the match, he might face one of them, so he didn’t want to get involved with them just before the match.

The journey turned out to be the longest he had ever been on, even though he literally traveled from his village to the capital.

Roman spent all his time looking outside, and the girls whispered to themselves, but he didn’t concern himself with what they were saying.

While in the other carriage, the girl who rode with Roman’s group of girls had already become friends with them.

She was part of the Noble family Nightshade, and she was a blood mage who used blood magic. Ava and Aurelia knew her family, but they didn’t know her personally since she was shy and reserved till she got into the carriage with them.

The journey finally came to an end as Roman sighted the palace walls.

The palace walls soon came into view, and Roman knew the trip was almost over, it was just as he remembered.

The carriages slowed as they rolled through the open gates. Royal guards stood on each side, watching closely as they passed.

The girls across from Roman stopped whispering. No one said a word now, the air inside the carriage felt heavier than before.

Roman pulled his face from the window and straightened himself. He wasn’t wearing the best clothes he had, but he was wearing good clothes, and he wasn’t expecting anyone to welcome them.

Not long after, the carriages came to a full stop. The door opened, and one of the Royal Guards stepped aside, motioning for them to get out.

The girls were the first to drop down, and Roman noticed one of the girls with her jaw dropped staring at the surroundings, it was clear she had never been to the Royal palace before.

In front of them was the other carriage, and all the girls stepped out, and as soon as Aurelia stepped, the guards bowed their heads to her, which she didn’t care about as she moved past them.

In the lead carriage, the Queen’s sister was already out of her carriage, heading towards the palace. Clara was also in the lead carriage with her, and she walked towards the students.

The ten of them gathered together as Clara spoke to them.

"The tournament will begin in some hours, so you have to get ready during this time, you’ll be led to a room, and Roman, you’ll be in a different room," Clara spoke.

"Why?" Roman asked.

"What do you mean by why? It’s an instruction passed to me, what do you want me to do about it?" Clara spoke as she turned around and the two guards walked towards her.

Roman wasn’t concerned about the separation because he wasn’t planning to have sex with any of the girls, but he just wanted to know if it was Clara’s idea or the Queen’s sister’s.

The two of them stepped forward, one motioning for Roman to follow, the other leading the rest of the girls in a different direction.

Aurelia knew her way around the palace, but now she wasn’t here as a princess; she was here for the tournament.

Roman walked behind his guard, the sound of her boots echoing on the clean stone floor.

He could feel the eyes of passing servants and guards on him as they walked through the hallway, he even saw the maid who showed him around when he was here before.

The girls were led away down another hallway.

Roman’s path ended at a single door. The guard opened it without a word and gestured for him to enter.

Inside was a simple but neat room containing a large bed, a small table, and a wardrobe. A window looked out over part of the inner courtyard.

"This will be your room until the tournament starts, and during the entire tournament," the guard said, then stepped out, closing the door behind him.

"The entire...that right, we’ll have to stay here till the tournament is over, so that’s why I was separated, now that I think about it, it does make sense" Roman muttered to himself.

’Wait, what if Ava was purposely put in my room to avoid that same thing, we’re currently having sex so I’ll say it didn’t work’

Roman sat on the bed, leaning back on his hands, in front of him was the bathroom and soon he heard a knock on the door.

"We brought clothes and breakfast," a voice said.

"It’s open," Roman replied, since he didn’t lock the door, and the door was pushed open.

Two maids stepped into his room, one of them holding a tray with two closed plates filled with food, cutlery, and two cups of water.

The other maid held three clothes in her hands, and one of them looked like their uniform given to them when they started the academy. The students hadn’t been told to wear it since duels hadn’t begun yet.

The maid placed the clothes inside the wardrobe, which was empty, and then she grabbed the small table for the other maid to place the food in front of Roman.

"Enjoy"

Both of the maids spoke as they bowed and then exited the room.

Roman was used to this type of treatment since he had stayed in the palace before, but he wasn’t ready to eat yet; he was going to take a bath first, then eat.

After eating, he was going to do a little workout to stretch his body before the tournament started.

He still didn’t know if he was going to be participating today, but he wanted to be ready in case he was.
