CHAPTER 174: CHAPTER 174 DREAM OR MEMORIES [PART 2]

Roman blinked as the world twisted, and when he opened his eyes, he was standing at the edge of a small village, in front of him, the founder and the girl had already arrived.

Wooden fences surrounded the place, though some parts were already broken. Smoke rose into the air, flames on some of the rooftops of wooden houses and then Roman saw something familiar.

Screams echoed, children crying, men and women shouting as they ran for safety.

The air was filled with the sound of steel clashing, spells exploding, and the roars of demons. Roman had confirmed one thing: indeed, this was the founder. That meant history was wrong, and if he wasn’t the founder, then who was he?

Roman’s eyes scanned the chaos. Dozens of demons with black skin and twisted horns were rushing through the broken gates, their claws ready to tear through anyone in their way.

Villagers who had mana were fighting back with spells, Roman recognized most of the spells.

A sharp gust of wind cut across a demon’s chest, sending blood spraying as the creature fell

Another young man raised his hand, and a spear of rock shot from the ground, piercing through another demon’s stomach.

The village was fighting desperately, but Roman could see they barely held on. For every demon they killed, two more pushed their way in.

Roman clenched his fists even though he wanted to help, but his body wouldn’t move; it was like he was only a ghost here, forced to watch, but there was something else.

The male to female ratio was reversed, apart from the girl that came with the founder, there were two other female mages, but ten male mages... unlike currently where females dominated.

Even with all the chaos, the moment the village noticed the founder, relief washed over their faces as he charged forward.

"You’re here!" someone shouted.

The founder raised his hand, mana swirling instantly around him like a storm, and the next moment, lightning.

Bolts of electricity burst from his palm, jumping between demons, frying them right where they stood. Their screams filled the air before their bodies dropped lifeless to the ground.

Dozens of sharp icicles formed above him and rained down, pinning more demons to the dirt as he released another bolt of chain lightning.

Roman’s eyes widened. The man was fast, faster than anyone Roman had seen. His spells flowed one after another without pause, his control was absolute...his entire way of using magic was just effortless.

A loud screech sounded the next moment, so piercing that Roman’s ears rang. He looked up and saw the same type of demon that had attacked their academy.

A winged demon descended from above, its body massive, its wings stretching wide enough to cover rooftops. Its skin was dark crimson, and its eyes glowed slightly. A demon general.

The villagers were already at some distance away and guarded by mages, but the mage in the front line began to back away.

Even the other demons backed away as the winged beast landed just beyond the fence, the ground shaking under its weight, this one was clearly different from the one Roman saw.

The founder stepped forward. "Everyone, fall back" His voice carried through the battlefield.

The flying demon spread its wings and roared, the wind from it toppling a few villagers who were distant away. Then it raised a claw and swung forward.

It wasn’t close to the founder but a crescent of black energy tore across the ground, splitting fences and houses as it raced toward the founder.

But he didn’t move back. He slammed his hand on the ground.

A thick wall of earth shot up before him, taking the hit, though cracks splintered across its surface.

Roman felt his chest tighten as he watched. The demon general leapt into the air and came crashing down, its claws ready to take the head of the founder.

The founder raised his hands.

A massive explosion of fire surged upward, swallowing the demon in flames. The force shook the ground, scattering ashes and dirt everywhere. The mages had now all retreated shielding the villagers.

But the demon burst out of the fire with a roar, its wings charred but still strong as it charged forward.

The founder didn’t flinch. He moved his fingers swiftly, different runes forming in the air, glowing faintly, and then something Roman never expected.

The demon suddenly staggered, its wings slamming against the dirt as it struggled to rise. Its body felt heavier, weighed down by the spell, Roman could see the air being pushed down.

He could see the strain in the man’s face, but he didn’t stop as he held the runes and then cast another spell while holding the runes.

A spear of pure fire shot from his hand, piercing straight into the demon’s chest. The beast screamed, flailing, before collapsing to the ground, smoke rising from its wound.

The village went silent for a moment, then cries of victory filled the air. The villagers cheered, though Roman couldn’t quite make it out.

’Did he just control gravity with runes, and cast a powerful flame spell while holding the demon with gravity, is it even possible to manipulate gravity with magic?’

His eyes stayed locked on the man who looked like him, now there was no doubt in his mind, this person was truly the founder of magic.

He had fought like someone who had been through this countless times before. Calm. Confident. Merciless.

But a question remained in his mind, how is this related to him, the person looked like him but all this was far too much and vivid to be a dream, all what he felt was real.

The villagers began walking towards him, and he turned around, but something caught his eye, and he turned to look.

Roman jaws dropped as the founder was looking straight at him, not his side, and there was nothing behind him, he was looking at Roman.

Roman gasped as his body jolted up, his breathing was heavy his clothes was sticking to his body as he was drenched in sweat, that last part was even more intense as he was sure the founder was looking at him.
