"Now that I think of it, it sucks to be dumped."

"Our moms literally dumped us."

"Okay guys, you don’t need to say all that. You’ll all understand when you become true adults." Aunt Chloe debunked their claim.

Just as they got off the jet in an organised row, a black sleek limousine came to halt before them.

Presenting them a welcome message through a big tablet was a middle aged man in black suit and glasses, sharply placed mouthpiece. Professional bodyguard it seems.

"Right, they hoped this would compensate us?" Rolling her eyes as she pulled her luggage behind, Annabel scoffed.

Ding!

Zzz!

Ding!...

Just then, everyone quickly glanced at their phone.

Appearing confused but having an inkling to what it was, a happy smile bloomed on their faces the next moment.

"Hehehe." The girls giggled slightly while the guys smirked and clenched their first, except for Max who simply read the alert without any joyous reaction.

(An amount of $500,000 has been transferred to your ac...xxxx) the notification read.

"How do you like huh?" Seeming their reaction, Aunt Chloe smiled, only appearing taken aback when she saw Max’s neutral expression.

Noticing her gaze, their eyes met met for a moment before she quickly turned away. Probably because of some memories reigniting.

The atmosphere in the limousine as they rode home became lively.

"Oh my, check this out."

Most especially between the girls. Apparently having decided on a shopping spree.

"What about you Max, you want to join us? Noah, Daniel and Blake are also coming."

Revealing they had noticed how he was trying to avoid being in the same place with three of them alone. Ava presented a sincere ultimatum.

"Sorry, I have a few things to do. I’ll be leaving tomorrow."

"Huh?" Raising a brow to his words first was Daniel who had been focused on his phone with his fingers rapidly tapping it.

"Are you a nerd?" The person to have the biggest reaction was Olivia, seeming gobsmacked that he was so eager to go back to school, which was only resuming four days from now.

A little intrigued-

"I was." Max responded coolly and the atmosphere fell silent under their slightly astonished expression.

"Wow, that’s unexpected."

"You once wore goggles?" Ava asked, squinting her eyes as she tried to take in his appearance from a new perspective.

"So you were like one of the not so cool kids in school?" Noah asked.

"Yes, I was." seeing that they seem to neglect the past tense in his words, Max added it again. But didn’t diminish their surprise.

"So how did you get to know A Ranked Students being a D Rank Student?" Though it felt bitter in his mouth, Blake acknowledged that Max was quite influential and remembered what happened nights ago.

"I don’t know them." Max replied, even more intrigued by their reaction.

"Wait, what Rank are you?" Daniel motioning for the rest of them to quiet down asked.

"A Rank."

"Huh?"

Another round of silence filled the atmosphere. Under his cousin’s speechless eyes, he felt even more intrigued.

Watching all these, Chloe wasn’t less impressed or surprised. To think that the boy they all thought was barely holding onto his academics was doing so well made her slightly ashamed.

"How’s that possible though? A year ago, Ivy said she checked in with one of friends who had a sibling attending there to check how you were doing.

"D Rank, with nothing impressive to note-"

Ava’s eyes widened as she quickly used her palm to cover her mouth realizing she had spoken something that shouldn’t be said. Thankfully Ivy wasn’t here or would have been deeply embarrassed.

"Well... that’s true." Casually nodding, Max didn’t disagree.

Seeing this, everyone turned their attention to Evelyn who pretended to be focused on her phone screen.

Sensing all eyes on her, she raised her head up.

"...What?"

"You’re gonna pretend like you weren’t listening?"

"Is what Max said true?" Olivia urged, actively wanting to gossip.

"... Yes." Taking a moment to respond, Evelyn agreed.

But that wasn’t all, as they all accepted that Max may have been playing them all these while. Imaging the first when they mocked how fat he was as a kid but got a new versions of him...-

"Here."

Taping something on her phone, Evelyn handed it to Olivia who was sitting opposite to her.

"Huh?"

"Oh my goodness, is that Max?" Following her squeak, the rest of the girls cranes their necks. Except for Daisy who showed disinterest.

"Oh my..."

"Wow-"

Just as the scene in the video played on, the girls froze causing Noah, Blake and Daniel who wanted to maintain composure to also crane their necks.

Then they saw it, a scene of Evelyn being slapped then how Max darted through the staircase, between the crowds to save his sister.

Just as the guys showed hate frown towards the guy slapping their cousin sister the scene of Max thrusting out his fist became both gratifying and satisfying.

To think his punch powered enough force to send the other guy stumbling backwards and then fell. They all marveled and glanced at Max for a moment before resuming to watch a split second later.

The scene that followed next was even more spectacular and satisfying. Like a scene from a high school movie with the coolest kid fighting.

Not only did Max easily predict each of the guy’s blows, he dodged and reacted swiftly and sharply.

"Oh my..." completely drawn to the scene. The girl’s face went fiery with a pink blush and their smile was as proud as it could be.

When Max dealt with the guy and picked up Evelyn in a bridal style they were even more speechless.

Just then a boy walked over with a girl by his side. They both cast a look at the bruised boy and the girl pointed at Max while speaking to the boy. However the guy dismissed her and went to grab a drink.

"Wait, I know this guy."
