CHAPTER 213: -COMING LATE-

Following the woman’s arrival, the whole class fell silent in recognition of her presence. None daring to act wild but composed.

Such an attitude, rare amongst Elites, exposed the woman’s prestige as their instructor.

Raising her head from the tablet after checking their schedule for the day, the woman silently scanned them with a piercing gaze.

Nodding at the end as a glint of contentment flickered in her eyes, she closed the strap of the tab, and held it to her side before speaking up.

"Okay, you know the drill. Let’s get-"

However, she was suddenly cut halfway by a soft hiss as a figure stepped through the door.

...

’It definitely doesn’t feel good going late to school, especially on your first lesson.’

Glancing down at his wrist as his expression turned cold, Max walked out of the Elevator and strided through the maze-like hallways. Paying little attention to the curious gaze that settled on him, he stopped between each intersection to verify he was in the right hallway to his destination.

However, that further depleted the little time he had before he would be truly late.

’I think it’s around here but the hallways are so similar with no difference this time.’

Troubled, Max’s cold face was masked by a frown as he weighed his decision on which hallway to go through.

"Well, usually I’ll bet on the most desolate hallway or the one with a muscle head in sight."

A peony drifting scent wafted past his nose as if to announce the arrival of the female beside him.

Tilting his head at the sound of her softly alluring tone, Max was greeted by her beauty and a sly, simple smile curving her lips.

Beside her were two pairs of curious eyes, and both dazzling beauties. Dressed in an extremely short pleated skirt than the norm, they wore long classic boots that covered their legs and highlighted their thighs. A distinguished fashion sense with adornment of exquisite diamond earrings and light make up.

At this sight, Max subconsciously overlaid the scene with Kats and her group of lackeys. However, this group looked more pronounced and less hierarchical.

’A group of 3 friends, perhaps Elite baddies?’

Max promptly appraised them, concluding they were SS Elites.

"Thank you."

Meeting their curious eyes with a look of warm expression of his own, Max made a quick appreciative nod without faltering and turned to leave.

However-

"Wait... please."

The second girl, pink-haired, who had been playing with a lollipop in her mouth suddenly reached out to him, correcting herself halfway after realizing it sounded like an order.

’Huh?’

The corners of Max’s lips twitched. Turning to face the three girls who now had a funny look on their face, the pink-haired spoke up.

"Are you the rumoured genius that is Evelyn’s brother?" She said, her expression expectant as she held out her pop stick.

Realizing they were all focused on the question, Max waited for two seconds before replying.

"...Yes, I am Evelyn’s brother."

"Wow." Acting surprised, the girl in the lead blurted as a smile curled her lips.

Not wanting to waste time, and neither feeling a spike to appraise them sexually, Max walked away in large strides towards the most desolate hallway.

’Class must have started.’ Envisioning the scene of him walking in during an ongoing lesson, Max waved his card for the door to open and was met with a contrast to his imagination.

Silence... Everyone turned to him. But was surprisingly not in the midst of a lesson. Rather some stood, a few sat on their desks, while the rest were casually seated in an informal manner.

As several pairs of eyes settled on him, seriously checking him out, Max felt a more distinct cold gaze settle on him.

’Asian?’ The word flashed in his mind upon catching sight of the only opposite gender in the class.

Stepping in, the door closed behind him with another soft hiss.

"Please excuse my tardiness."

Giving an apologetic nod, Max said to the woman while appearing to be the most formally dressed Elite student in the room.

Silence...

"...And who might you be?"

The instructor suddenly questioned, her cold eyes turning intrigued with a flicker of curiosity within.

Standing where he was with an apologetic countenance without minding the attention he was getting, Max answered right away in collected manner.

"Max. Recently got promoted to an SS Elite and chose to study Combat."

When he mentioned ’SS Elite’ several eyes twitched and the atmosphere grew heavy.

Another round of silence filled the room before the instructor reacted again, her tone a mix of realisation and doubt.

"Oh, you’re the genius who managed to DODGE a blow from Kieran?"

Hearing this, Max’s brows twitched slightly but his expression didn’t falter since she was right.

’She’s definitely trying to infer at something.’

"Yes." Disrupting his thought, Max replied with a single word, making sure to maintain eye contact with her.

Also noticing this, the instructor’s eyes squinted slightly but then nodded.

"I see. But coming late on your first day? Are you trying to infer you’re some kind of genius that deserves being waited for?"

Stating with cold strict humour, she waited patiently for his response.

’Seems like she already thinks of me as an arrogant scion. But I don’t care. Her husband won’t be here standing if he did half of what I did either.’

"No." Max calmly replied.

Letting her gaze linger on him for a few seconds, she turned towards the wall and opened her tab.

"Only bring along what is important to you."

Following her words, a loud hiss reverberated through the room and the walls parted to reveal a subterranean garage with an exquisite luxury bus able to contain twenty people parked within.

’What’s going on?’ Puzzled, Max realised the others didn’t look surprised but were already walking out to the garage like it was the norm here.

"Hey, newbie. Just drop your bag and follow." A bald-headed youth who was about to board the bus called out to him with a wave of his hand.

Speechless, Max saw that he was the only one who looked formal and carried along something.

’I look like a weeb.’ Shaking his head, Max’s face looked grim as he pocketed just his phone.
