CHAPTER 215: -SURPRISING COLD INSTRUCTOR -

"We are heading to China?’

’Is this what they meant by field training?’ Recalling he had been told, Max couldn’t help but wonder.

But just then, as if reading his thoughts, Miles who had just stepped his legs into a silver paratrooper suit, further puzzling Max by the sight, shook his head and spoke saying...

"I know that look. Unfortunately, field training is for SS Elites only due to the risk involved." Showing a wry smile, Miles motioned at the compact black duffel placed beside the next seat.

"You’ll need that too." He said, fastening the harness around his chest with experienced precision.

Deciding to dwell over the information he had gotten in silence, Max nodded and opened the duffel.

Inside, the same silver paratrooper suit welcomed him as he picked it up.

Glancing around, Max realised everyone else was either halfway or done strapping their suit up.

Also noting that he was the centre of their attention due to his novice identity, he lowered down his suit and stepped into mirroring Miles’ movement so as not to fumble.

Sure enough, most seemed like they wanted to see him embarrass himself but unfortunately that didn’t happen.

Now all geared, Miles raised a thumbs up at him.

"Hmm." Responding with a soft nod, Max saw the others were beginning to take their seats and followed.

’Could it be that they plan to drop us all from the sky?’ feeling doubtful, Max dismissed this thought and turned to Miles.

"Is there any other requirement for field training you mentioned?" Max asked, his tone just enough for Miles to hear.

Revealing a look of realisation, Miles seemed to understand the reason behind Max’s and smiled.

"Ahh.. right. You are an SS Elite."

"You have to adapt to the serum and gain a considerable strength that has a solid hold of superhuman output." Miles explained.

"Thanks." Max nodded, feeling appreciative.

"Ready for take off." Now in a paratrooper suit of her own, the instructor appeared. Her long silk hair danced over shoulders.

Scanning everyone with her eyes as if searching for something, her gaze landed on Max and lingered once more.

"Good." She nodded affirmingly, and walked towards him.

Stunned by her approach Max felt puzzled till he noticed the only unoccupied jump seat was the one next to him.

A whiff of rose-amber fragrance filled his nostrils as she sat beside him, strapping the safety belts across her chest and causing it to stand out due to the pressure.

Having caught this scene from the corner of his eyes due to the primal reflex of his pupils, he felt her cold glare bore into him the next instant.

’What’s with her reaction? It’s not even that big to begin with.’

"Take off." In a cold tone, the instructor notified the pilot while inserting a comms earpiece in her left ear.

Following that, everyone could feel the accelerating engine while the rear hatch closed up.

Within thirty seconds, the pressure from defying gravity could be felt. And instead of decreasing at some point the gravity force that was being circulated bore down on him so hard that he couldn’t move his fingers.

After managing to force his eyes open, Max saw that everyone else had their eyes closed with some even gritting their teeth.

’This... We are flying at a speed-’

Yet, before Max could complete this thought, he felt overwhelmed by an invisible force. Supposedly a jolt of electricity surged through him and then disappeared without any effect.

’Adrenaline. Unfortunately, my hormones have shut down and are currently dormant due to last night’s incident.’

After analysing what he had just experienced, Max managed to pair open his eyes once more as he struggled with the invincible force that bore down on him.

’I wonder how she looks right now.’

Catching the faint whiff of amber fragrance, Max felt curious to the instructor’s current expression and tilted his neck with intense force.

’Not so special after all.’ Seeing her closed eyes with a cold look, Max thought to himself that she must be struggling to withstand the gravity as a normal human would.

However, just then- the cold eyes of the instructor revealed themselves to him.

’What the fuck?’

Caught, Max pursed his lips and turned away with a nonchalant expression.

’The guts.’

Frowning, the Instructor’s cold eyes glinted with irritation only to reveal surprise a split second later.

’He’s able to open his eyes?’

...

Minutes passed. The perceptibility of time inside the jet was extremely low so it couldn’t be said how many minutes had passed since their flight journey began.

However, the hold of gravity was starting to lessen. Sensing this, several Elites managed to pair their eyes open at this moment, and the subtle movement as they grabbed their jump helmet caused Max to open his eyes.

"Grab your helmet, we are heading out."

Beside him, Max heard Miles’ voice halfway muffled by his helmet as he loosened his straps.

’We are really going to jump out?’

Nodding, Max took up his helmet and began loosening the safety belt straps like everyone else.

"Altitude at sixty thousand. Land northwest above the mountain." Yet to put on her helmet, the Instructor’s voice tore through the sound of billowing wind as the hatch opened up.

"And you-" she turned to Max.

"Just do what the others do. We are landing on the highest mountain you see." She said, motioning for everyone to check their suit before putting on her helmet.

"Go!"
