Stand By Me Darling
Chapter 454: Wedding(1)
CHAPTER 454: WEDDING(1)
Iris, I came here crossing seven seas and climbing seven mountains. Will you walk the red carpet for me?" Arthur asked holding her hand.
"Well, that seems pretty adventurous, Sindbad," Talia chuckled.
"It really was an adventure," Arthur’s eyes widened.
"Oh? Why don’t you tell me your adventures, ye great one! I’ll appoint poets to sing ballads of your incredible feats. The-"
"Iris!" Arthur stopped her with a kiss. Talia looked at him licking her lips. Both of them ignored the knocking at the door.
"I’ll tell you all about it tonight," he pulled her closer and kissed her once more.
"Are we going to just talk tonight?" Talia whispered, her voice smooth like silk. "Or will you fall asleep like last night? I went through the trouble of picking up sexy lingerie for tonight." She traced her finger over his chest and it ended up over his heart.
"Well, that will depend on my wife’s mood. I’ll do whatever my wife wants of me," Arthur held her hand and kissed it.
"Oh? Your wife?" Talia sniffed, "Whatever will be of me if you abandon me for your wife?"
Arthur saw Talia pretending to cry and his lips curved up to a smile. "I am sorry, but after today my wife will be the most important person in my life," he kissed her and Talia chuckled and pushed him out of her bedroom.
"Iris...I’ll be waiting for your arrival," he said and Talia closed the door smiling. Leaning on the door, she placed her hand on her chest that was pounding.
That guy and his sweet tongue... I can never get used to it.
Talia checked the time. There were only five hours for her arrival at the Cathedral. Since everything is planned to the seconds, she must be on time.
She decided to get ready and her staff came to help her. The first thing they did was feed her and Talia filled herself to avoid fainting in the middle of the ceremony. She has a very low tolerance for hunger and so she took necessary precautions. Soon, her bridesmaids, and Rebecca and Cordelia joined her in the room as she started getting ready.
She started with her makeup and she went for her usual simple and natural look. She didn’t even add eyelashes since she had naturally thick eyelashes. She added some blush to give her the beaming bride effect.
After that she did her hair in a half up half down hairstyle with soft curls since that was her style and she was more comfortable in it. She had practiced fixing the Brunton Tiara and before she added the veil, she stepped into her dress.
The dress was made with lace, silk satin, diamonds, and gold. Talia opted for cap-sleeves since it was summer and she didn’t want to sweat. With a sweetheart neckline, it suited Talia’s lean figure. The back was lace and it gave a chic feel to the classic styled dress. The skirt was full and since it was lined with tulle, it gave great volume to it. Lace appliqués over the silk satin skirt with diamonds and golden embroidery accentuating the designs, her dress was a work of art.
Talia had added comfort to her style and although it was heavy with all the works, it still was fairly easy to move in it.
Dalia helped her get into the dress and Talia was relieved that the dress still fit her. She had a nightmare last night that the dress didn’t fit her because she became very fat overnight.
After that everyone helped secure the veil. Talia went for the drop veil since she wanted the covered feeling along with good visibility. The edges of the veil had appliquéd lace and diamonds incorporated in them.
Standing in front of the full-size mirror, Talia was content. Everything came together just like she wanted. She sent everyone away to get ready. They should be in the Church before her.
Although her engagement ring was blue, Talia stitched a little blue ribbon inside her skirt. The Brunton Tiara was her something old, and the earring she borrowed from her great-grandma was her something borrowed. Her dress was her something new.
Just when she finished, the Palace aides started to hurry her since there were only less than an hour for her to leave. They asked her to be five minutes early to avoid any delay due to some unforeseen circumstances.
"I hope it doesn’t rain," Talia said as they were doing the final touch-ups.
She could hear the joyful cheers from the people gathered outside the palace. They wanted to have a first glance at her wedding dress. She didn’t want any of the people who gathered for the wedding to get wet.
"It is good luck to rain on a wedding day," Cordelia said and Rebecca seconded.
"I don’t want anyone to get wet," she fixed her hair once more.
Her grandpa arrived at that time and Talia hugged him as she saw him swallowing his tears. "Oh, MaryAnn... You’re so pretty. You make me proud!" he carefully patted her back.
Her great-grandma, Louis, and the others joined and Talia almost cried looking at them. Louis looked like words got stuck in his throat.
"Louis," she walked closer and held his hand. She was feeling a little guilty for choosing her grandpa to walk down the aisle rejecting Louis. Although he never puts to word his love for her, Louis has proved his love for her in many ways. And she loved him too, although she doesn’t say it much.
"This is the one day I can arrive later than you. Why are you still here?" Talia spoke with a grin and Louis hugged her with a smile.
"Keep smiling, Mary. I will break his face if he makes you cry," he let her go and turned t leave.
"He is crying," Cordelia whispered in her eyes making Talia chuckle. "For real," Cordelia nodded. She had to look after her sons who were already fuzzy after getting dressed. Talia had no hopes that the little kids will act well and she prepared her heart. Carl and Catherine all arrived and the other two little girls one from Celine’s family and the other from a noble family were also there with their nannies.
Kids acting out of line will be cute anyways!
Lambert was looking around and Talia figured he was looking for Jolene. "In the washroom!" Talia said and only then he noticed her.
"A monkey wearing white is still a monkey," he said and Talia stomped his feet with the back of her heels.
"Oww! That hurts, orang-utan!" he raised his hand to knock her head but Jolene who returned pulled him away. Celine was so proud looking at Talia and she stayed with her since she is one of the bridesmaids.
One by one, everyone left for the Church and Talia could hear the cheers from outside.
Talia took in a deep breath when it was her time to leave.
Here I go... This will be my last appearance to the public as an unmarried woman.
