Starting Cultivation in Wasteland
Chapter 8: Sha Qu Goes Too Far!
CHAPTER 8: CHAPTER 8: SHA QU GOES TOO FAR!
Although Qu Jianlei lived a destitute life, he truly had his principles.
He disdained stirring up trouble under the banner of Mr. Sai — he didn’t have a good impression of that guy either.
Merging the Scavengers... he hadn’t thought of it, even if he were to merge, he would rely solely on his abilities.
But he couldn’t let go of the Laser Pistol because it was Third Master’s relic!
Third Master was just so-so to him, even hitting him a few times, but he hadn’t forgotten the life-saving Nutrient Injection.
He even remembered that he owed Third Master a shipment.
This debt couldn’t be repaid, but... Qu Jianlei didn’t want to be indebted.
So you’re bullying Third Master who has passed away by taking his weapon without permission, that’s just wrong!
It happened that Qu Jianlei also lacked a weapon, so he spoke up.
The Hunter who took the Laser Pistol was a bald man, with abnormally developed muscles, covered in tattoos.
He was holding a Gauss Automatic Rifle, with two Long Blades on his back and a dagger at his waist, looking like someone not to be messed with.
What he lacked was a Laser Pistol at his waist.
Because of this, he seized the Laser Pistol and no one among the Hunters contested him.
The bald man glanced at Qu Jianlei indifferently, and casually attached the pistol holster, "Do you want to die?"
"Do you want to kill me?" Qu Jianlei took out the Alloy Ring and shouted, "Mr. Sai... someone wants to kill me!"
"Wait!" The bald man’s face turned pale instantly, "Was just saying if you wanted this pistol?"
"Oh darn, forgot to press this button," Qu Jianlei looked at the ring, about to remedy the situation.
"You take it!" The bald man immediately tossed the Laser Pistol to the ground, "Don’t press the button!"
Qu Jianlei rolled his eyes, paused for a moment, then said, "I don’t really know how to use a gun!"
Everyone believed this, a guy who couldn’t even feed himself, how could he possibly know how to use a gun?
Mastering firearms on the Wasteland isn’t hard, but being able to shoot and know how to use a gun... those are two different realms, right?
Just like knowing how to use a gun and knowing how to repair one... those are still two different realms.
The bald man really didn’t expect that this guy, without hesitation, would call for Mr. Sai — can that kind of big shot be called just like that?
He couldn’t help but say, "If you don’t know how to use a gun, why take it?"
Qu Jianlei confidently replied, "Third Master saved my life!"
If you really calculate it, it could count as saving twice — back then, that scar-faced woman nearly killed him to claim a reward.
As for the connection between a life-saving grace and the ownership of a Laser Gun... he hadn’t figured it out yet.
Worst case, he could just make something up.
The Scavenger with a severed left arm spoke up, "This is a relic of us Scavengers, Greedy Wolf, don’t go too far!"
Surviving on the Wasteland also involves circles, Greedy Wolf’s previous actions already overstepped the boundary.
As a Hunter, robbing a Scavenger’s relic, do you really think Scavengers are all dead?
It’s just that no one cared before, Greedy Wolf’s strength was formidable, and the Hunters had more numbers, so everyone tolerated it.
Now that someone cared, they had to talk it out, lest Scavengers lose face.
"I wasn’t excessive," Greedy Wolf spread both hands, "I’ve already dropped the gun... oh, now I’m removing the holster."
He removed the holster, threw it to the ground, but felt a bit disgruntled inside.
So he said, "If you can’t use a gun, you must practice more, but... there’s not much Energy Block inside."
A Laser Gun without Energy Blocks is inferior to an iron stick, and the price of Energy Blocks... very expensive!
Even an old Scavenger like Third Master would grit his teeth to buy Energy Blocks, let alone a pauper like Qu Jianlei.
Greedy Wolf thought that although Sha Qu was foolish, he wasn’t totally foolish... you should gauge this for yourself.
Qu Jianlei thought for a moment and then looked at the double blades on his back, "Actually, I prefer to use blades."
You stupid fool are being too presumptuous! Greedy Wolf exploded, "You want my Overclocked Oscillation Blade?"
Qu Jianlei blinked, "You can take Third Master’s gun, why can’t I take your blade?"
In the world, things should roughly be fair, right?
There’s nothing to talk about with this fool! Greedy Wolf snorted coldly, "Then come and take it."
"You can clearly buy it, you insist on taking it... then if I kill you, Mr. Sai won’t blame me either."
Qu Jianlei took out the Alloy Ring again, "Then I’ll have Mr. Sai help me take it, would that work?"
"Wait!" Greedy Wolf felt he was about to explode again, "Sha Qu, why must you take mine?"
"Call me Brother Qu," Qu Jianlei casually answered, then asked, "Then why do you take Third Master’s gun?"
Because I’m strong enough, Greedy Wolf really wanted to answer.
Mr. Sai didn’t care for Third Master’s gun — or didn’t want to provoke more outrage, so he didn’t take the gun.
But once Mr. Sai left, he felt entitled to consider it, so he took it, is that wrong?
Over thirty Hunters didn’t react, enough to prove he had the qualification.
But obviously, no need to explain to this fool now, so Greedy Wolf turned and left quickly.
He couldn’t leave the Overclocked Oscillation Blade, even if he had two.
The Greedy Wolf was also taking a gamble, betting that this fool wasn’t completely foolish, thinking that once he left, the other wouldn’t continue to contact Mr. Sai.
In this land, a real fool wouldn’t survive.
As expected, Qu Jianlei watched him leave and was momentarily stunned.
In fact, his intent to seize the other’s long blade was just a sudden impulse—rumor had it that the Overclocked Oscillation Blade wasn’t very expensive.
The other party didn’t give up the blade but didn’t dawdle either, just turned and left, which was a decent outcome.
So he certainly wouldn’t contact Mr. Sai again, he was just pondering... what on earth is this injection?
That’s right, his thoughts were jumping around, and dealing with the trouble from the injection was indeed the priority.
The others also remained silent until the roar of Greedy Wolf’s motorcycle started, and a filthy female scavenger finally spoke.
"Hey... Xiaoqu, why don’t you take Iron Head’s Vibrating Blade? He doesn’t have any family anyway."
Qu Jianlei snapped back to reality and glanced at her, "Don’t you want it?"
Iron Head’s equipment wasn’t bad, he had a Gauss Automatic Rifle and a Short Blade.
Compared to a Hunter, this set of equipment was quite ordinary, but among scavengers, it was sufficient for self-defense.
The woman waved her hand, "If you want it, take it. Remember what you said... Don’t do anything bad!"
Qu Jianlei looked around at the others and found no one objected, so he walked towards Iron Head’s corpse.
He not only took the Vibrating Short Knife from the body but also the Gauss Automatic Rifle and the ammo belt.
After a pause, he started searching the body—just rummaging through a corpse.
Since he was already acting on borrowed authority, doing a bit more wouldn’t matter.
Numerous scavengers exchanged glances: So, are you going to keep all the spoils for yourself?
However, thinking about how Greedy Wolf left in a mess, everyone considered it acceptable.
If by chance this fool got into a conflict with them or attracted Mr. Sai, that would truly be inviting trouble upon themselves.
Until Qu Jianlei went over to rummage through the corpse of Third Master, a short and sturdy man finally couldn’t bear it anymore.
"Sha Qu, are you thinking of taking over Iron Head’s and Third Master’s territory?"
In the junkyard, picking garbage naturally had corresponding territory, the order in the Wasteland was quite abysmal, but there was still order.
Even if the area division was quite flexible—after all, scavengers died and new ones came, but divisions existed.
"Why not?" Qu Jianlei asked without looking up.
The short and sturdy man was momentarily speechless, it was indeed reasonable, how could he stop a fool from taking over?
So he cast a beseeching glance at the others: Are you just going to let him take over?
The other scavengers didn’t respond, most of their gazes were rather indifferent.
The scavenger group was quite averse to outsiders, but now that someone had stepped up to draw animosity, why stand out?
Anyway, those two territories would be vacated, and no single person could claim them alone.
Forcing Sha Qu to get upset and change his mind to ’do bad things’ would be unpleasant.
Qu Jianlei finished searching the bodies and stood up, murmuring softly, "Poor bastards!"
These two really were poor, nothing valuable on them, just some ammo, food, and water.
But thinking about it, it was reasonable; they came to besiege the Fallen and had the mindset for a fatal encounter.
Everyone looked at him strangely: The words "life-saving benefactor" were still ringing in their ears, and now they’re called poor bastards?
Truly something wrong with his head.
Qu Jianlei didn’t care about all that, instead, he looked at the short and sturdy man who spoke earlier.
"I currently have no plans to scavenge, but I must clarify, I am entitled to take their territory."
No plans? That’s good then. The short and sturdy man breathed a sigh of relief; had I known this, why step out and act the villain?
He wanted to ease the situation, so he smiled and spoke, "What are you planning to do next?"
"Continue pulling my cart!" Qu Jianlei answered without hesitation, "I need to handle things for Mr. Sai properly."
Then he glanced at the scavengers, "I need to gather information from you; once I start scavenging, there will be no time."
The short and sturdy man’s face slightly changed again, "Are you planning to keep an eye on us?"
"Yes," Qu Jianlei nodded briskly, then spread his hands, "I don’t want to, but I have to."
The short and sturdy man’s eyes shifted slightly, "Xiaoqu, you won’t intentionally make things difficult for us, will you?"
"No!" Qu Jianlei answered without hesitation.
Just as everyone was about to relax, he added, "As long as you cooperate properly."
What does "cooperate properly" even mean? It’s way too subjective, many scavengers cursed inwardly.
However, how could they seriously argue with a fool?
But the filthy woman couldn’t hold it in, "Sha Qu, you’re not planning to check the trash we collect, right?"
"Of course, we need to check," Qu Jianlei replied earnestly, "Rest assured, your other spoils will be kept confidential."
The filthy woman’s eyes turned hostile, "You’re breaking the scavengers’ code!"
"What else can I do?" Qu Jianlei spread his hands in an innocent question, "Am I supposed to make things up?"
(During the release of the new book, seeking all sorts of support.)
