Chapter 69: Situation
CHAPTER 69: CHAPTER 69: SITUATION
The Cyan Ghost had a cyan face and fangs, horns on its head, standing nearly three meters tall, with cyan skin and muscles knotted all over. Its pair of blood-red eyes were locked onto Lu Ren, emitting a continuous low growling sound.
What was unexpected was that the Cyan Ghost actually wore loincloth trousers, bulging, causing Lu Ren to take a second look.
Lu Ren was not impressed by the appearance of the Cyan Ghost. This kind of corporeal entity was actually quite easy to deal with for him; he could discern this from its gestures and movements.
As long as he maintained his posture correctly, the opponent would not be able to touch him at all.
"Brother Lu, be careful, this attack is perilous!"
A breathless voice came from afar.
Lu Ren turned his head to glance, and it was Cao Jingde who had arrived, clad in cyan armored outfit, with a dozen blue-clothed envoys following behind.
They were evidently from the Demon Extermination Bureau.
Yet, Cao Jingde appeared pale, with his Qi and Blood slightly weak. The Steel Saber he held was chipped everywhere, and the dozen Blue-clothed Envoys behind him were also covered in scratches, in bad condition, obviously having encountered danger.
"You all look terrible!"
Seeing Cao Jingde approaching, Lu Ren casually asked.
Cao Jingde smiled bitterly, with a face full of bitterness, "The city gates fell, there was no choice. Those demonic fiends could only be let in to rely on the Yang Qi gathered by people to suppress them."
Lu Ren’s expression shifted slightly; being forced to this extent indicated that the city defense had completely lost control. It might be that the city defense force had been completely wiped out.
If the citizens suffered, then Chentai City would quickly become a ghost town.
The city gates and walls were specially equipped with Talisman Masters to gather Yang Qi, using special talisman paper as the medium to draw and embed into the wall structure for resisting demonic invasion.
Those Talisman Masters Lu Ren had seen before, each of them thin as if unable to afford food, yet they were extraordinarily treasured, always surrounded by a large number of Demon Extermination Bureau and government officials during outings, fearing any harm would come to them.
No idea how they actually wielded the so-called Yang Qi.
Lu Ren looked at the Cyan Ghost striding towards him and asked, "What about the citizens in the city?"
Although it wasn’t his concern, seeing these Demon Ghosts continuously destroying buildings, he eventually asked about it.
"Once subsequent support arrives... rescue operations will commence promptly."
Cao Jingde replied with a grim face, acknowledging that the city’s residents might already be abandoned by the Demon Extermination Bureau.
They hadn’t anticipated the sudden breach of the city gates, leading to such a crisis from a moment’s error, and potentially everyone might end up buried here.
Then Cao Jingde adopted a stance with his saber, and shouted, "Everyone be cautious, this foe has thick skin and is immensely strong!"
Seeing the Cyan Ghost charging, Lu Ren stopped speaking, drawing his double swords, watching as Cao Jingde and a group of Blue-clothed Envoys from the Demon Extermination Bureau rushed ahead, raising his brows in pause.
Then he saw the skilled fighters of the Demon Extermination Bureau bind the Cyan Ghost methodically with flying chains. The blade and sword continued to wear down the Cyan Ghost with gathered Yang Qi. The Cyan Ghost roared wildly, its vessels about to burst, flinging everyone away directly.
Cao Jingde stood firm, saber in hand, bearing a mad punch from the Cyan Ghost, flying back like a ball, crashing into a big hole in the wall of Landlord Chen’s courtyard.
"Cao Envoy!"
The Blue-clothed Envoys exclaimed in surprise, evidently not expecting Cao Jingde to end up in such a situation.
Just as they were about to check, the Cyan Ghost advanced suddenly.
The group was stunned but was swept by the Cyan Ghost’s arm. Just as they were about to fall, two sword shadows appeared in their vision.
Squelch!!
A sound of flesh tearing suddenly echoed, and the group saw the Cyan Ghost’s right arm severed from the shoulder.
Lu Ren stood atop the Cyan Ghost’s shoulder, his body balanced by the Phoenix Falcon Fist, no matter how the Cyan Ghost swayed, resembling a floating leaf while remaining stationary as if rooted.
"Roar!!!"
The painful howl echoed from the Cyan Ghost’s mouth, its remaining left hand reaching to claw Lu Ren down. Lu Ren raised his sword in Yan Form, scraping across the Cyan Ghost’s advancing claw.
Watching the Cyan Ghost’s hand directly severed, its wound smooth as silk, Lu Ren couldn’t help but silently praise the advanced alloy smelting industry.
The enhancement of Martial Path by science and technology was immense; at least in ancient times, there wasn’t anything like Highly Concentrated Nutrient Pills akin to Fasting Pills.
Even if similar things existed, how many could ancient society’s low productivity produce?
Lu Ren exerted a little force with his feet, leaping off the Cyan Ghost’s shoulder. The left hand swung the Longquan with a flick of the wrist, severing the giant hand of the Cyan Ghost at the wrist.
Clang clang clang!!!
Upon landing, Lu Ren’s two Longswords whirled swiftly in his arms, and the Cyan Ghost’s body instantly showed dozens of blood lines. Finally, as the blood lines sharply expanded, the massive body, nearly three meters tall like a towering pillar, was sliced into ten segments by Lu Ren.
Thud thud thud!!
Watching as the Cyan Ghost’s innumerable body parts fell to the ground, Lu Ren sighed deeply, sheathing his Longsword slowly.
He almost exerted too much force just now, worsening the injury to his arms.
Fortunately, it was all right!
As Lu Ren turned to leave, he suddenly stopped, surprised by the stunned looks from the Blue-clothed Envoys, "What’s all this about?"
Behind him, Cao Jingde stood supporting himself against the courtyard wall, his expression shocked.
"Your Swordsmanship, how did it suddenly improve so much? Such rapid progression, it’s hardly human!"
Lu Ren replied, "Of course, through painstaking effort, ceaseless practice day and night, relentless cultivation leads to improvement. What you call rapid progression is merely my accumulated skills surfacing."
Cao Jingde assumed a doubtful expression, feeling as though he was being played for a fool!
These days, despite exchanging skills with Lu Ren, such drastic change in a few days was improbable, wasn’t it?
This astonishing change was overwhelming, beyond Cao Jingde’s imagination. What’s more, when Lu Ren killed the Cyan Ghost earlier, he didn’t utilize the Qi Blood Explosion of Martial Path.
He completely relied on his physical fitness and advanced technique to achieve it.
This completely challenged the notion held by the Demon Extermination Bureau, where no Qi and Blood was seen as non-Martial Path.
Even though they sensed the heat emitted from Lu Ren’s body at this moment, evident even from a distance, it was understood that this was caused by the body’s function to rapidly dissipate heat after intense activity, not actual Qi Blood Explosion with special Inner Breath.
Cao Jingde clutched his chest, struggling to gesture, "Brother Lu, with Chentai City on the brink of collapse, your joining us would greatly enhance our survival odds."
Lu Ren’s eyes flickered slightly, "Chentai City already in dire straits?"
