CHAPTER 32: A RUDE AWAKENING

While Elandor was lying unconscious on the bed, a big change was happening inside his body.

His human cells were undergoing variations at the genetic level, his heartbeat was shooting like crazy, his breathing was raging like a storm, and the sweat had long drenched his clothes. If anyone looked at him right now, they would be surprised to see Elandor lying in a puddle of water.

Even the supposedly almighty system was panicking.

[Vital condition rapidly deteriorating.]

[Emergency protocols being deployed...]

[The host’s DNA is undergoing continuous splicing and reshuffling???]

[Countermeasures to stabilise the condition failed??]

For the first time, there seemed to be a surprise in the system’s notification.

[Unknown and uncontrollable changes are being reported in the host’s genetic structure.]

Everything was left to fate, Elandor indeed gambled his life this time.

After an entire night of awakening, the boy at last, opened his eyes.

"Huhhh?"

Like the interlude of a tempest that has ended, I naturally opened my mouth.

"Am...I still.....alive?"

Mustering a hoarse voice in my throat, I slowly exhaled.

My whole body was full of ache, like I had just been hit by a speeding truck, all the joints in my body were cracking with pain.

It took a few minutes before clarity started returning to my head.

With considerable effort, I checked the mobile that was lying beside me.

"Woahh!"

As soon as I held my mobile, it fell out of my grip.

Looking around I realised I was lying in a small puddle of sweat, as a result, the phone was already slippery.

With some more effort, I carefully held the mobile and checked the time.

"5.30 am"

Yes, the entire night has passed in this rude awakening.

It was only now that I checked the system’s log full of countless prompts.

’Interesting, even the system had no idea what change I have really undergone?’

-This was my thought that I wanted to speak, but for some instinctive reason I held back.

Perhaps it’s better not to let the system know about my every little secret.

I got up and hurriedly went to the kitchen to replenish my energy.

Because of starving for so long, my physical condition was rapidly deteriorating, and I could feel it firsthand.

It took some effort, but with enough determination, I managed to drag my body to the kitchen where I had previously stocked countless supplies in case of an emergency.

Gulps~

Opening the refrigerator, I hastily drank the water from the bottle after unscrewing it.

Retching~

Suddenly, I vomited the mouthful of water I had just devoured wholeheartedly.

The realisation that my digestive system was still weak after such a prolonged hunger hit me, thereafter, I steadily started drinking little sips of water instead of my previous instant approach.

After hydrating myself, it was naturally time to eat some food.

The chicken meat in the bottom of the fridge was making me watery, but keeping my temptation in check, this time I didn’t make the same mistake.

Instead of the tasty meat, I chose some light fruits and vegetables to make an easily digestible salad.

After I felt content, I slowly sat at the table and looked at my changes.

The time was still 6 am, and I still had plenty of time for school to start.

"Now that I remember I spent my entire yesterday busy redrawing and subsequently missed my first day of school, as well as, my second day at part-time work.

"Darn it!"

"It is said that the first day of your new school is important to make some good friends, not to forget, this is the final year."

I guess I will have to call in sick in case the teacher reprimands me.

But the biggest headache was my part-time workplace.

"On my first day, I missed my shift and was late, on the second day I was directly absent, what impression will this leave on my boss?"

"At worst, I will tell them to cut my salary, I just hope they don’t decisively fire me."

I still vividly remember boasting to the shop owner how- I had always been diligently working hard from 6 am in the morning to 5 pm in the evening since I was 14 years old.

"My entire reputation will surely go down the drain."

I exclaimed in a helpless voice.

After rationalising everything, I was clear of my predicament.

Then I started focusing on my changes,

I could sense it, my strength wasn’t increased but my eyesight had improved considerably and my mind was clearer than ever.

I was sure there was something different.

At the same time, a brief piece of information appeared in my brain. This new piece of info felt like something that was part of my natural memory since as long as I could remember.

Clairvoyance- You can gain special information not visible to the naked eye after staring at a specific living target.

Intuition- Your heart and soul can sense any potential life-threatening danger in advance, thus saving you from dying meaninglessly.

Simulation [Locked]- In order to better prepare for future events, you can simulate one future day in advance. The events you will see in the simulation will, without a doubt, happen in real life as long as the concerned future doesn’t actively change.

Devourer- Because of natural selection in ancient times when strong mythical creatures were rampant, the weak humans underwent a genetic mutation that allowed them to devour countless other powerful bloodlines to strengthen themselves.

Clairvoyance, Intuition, Simulation and Devourer?

Were all these parts of the talent that I awakened- The Future Sight

Wait, this information was inherently etched into my brain, it was not the system’s mechanical voice that informed me regarding all these new abilities.

I took a deep breath as my newly enhanced brain worked at lighting speed to arrive at suitable conclusions.

As if I have discovered some big secret, without any hesitation I loudly called out to my system.

"System, show me my character panel."
