CHAPTER 38: FIRST VICTORY

And then it happened: the set of equations being penned down on the blackboard completely blew apart common sense.

During these three minutes of diligently performing my task, no one disturbed, no better to say- They dare not disturb!

"It’s done."

After doing this impossible task, I was full of smugness.

With an attitude, I threw the half-left chalk in my hand into the dustbin.

"Teacher, to be honest, all the things you told me to answer were not even covered in the class, I don’t know where I provoked you...."

"...but luckily, I am a hard-working student who had done a considerable amount of study in advance so I was able to pass this daunting test."

My words inflicted a dimensional-reduction blow to Beatrix who had long been flabbergasted.

Standing near the podium, the utter disbelief was still vividly written on her face.

I actually didn’t need to rub in Beatrix’s nose with my fierce reply, but I did it anyway.

I did it because I wanted to make her understand, only with a decisive statement can she be given a warning that I am also not someone to be trifled with.

The result was as expected, now it was time to deliver the final blow.

But before I could speak, a flustered boy sitting in front bench interrupted me,

"Teacher, hurry and check, how can he get it all right?"

"He must have written wrong things, right?"

His geeky spectacles and studious look showed he must be a top scorer from the previous year, but so what?

Clenching his wrists, he looked at the teacher with expectant eyes.

Beatrix, who became the centre of attention just stood silent like someone had put her under a spell.

Her silence was more deafening than any word that could potentially come out of her mouth.

"Teacher?"

The boy understood the underlying meaning and hissed in frustration.

Beatrix once again looked towards the blackboard behind me which I had filled with all the answers, trying to find some discrepancies but to no avail.

In helplessness, she could only shake her head towards the topper student, dealing a shock to his ego.

"Since no one has any objection, it’s time we fulfil our promise."

The confidence in my voice was unmatched.

As a victor, there was no need to hold back.

Beatrix’s face flinched, her face grim,

"Wait! We can....."

"No, don’t try to manipulate!"

I ruthlessly stopped her from playing another trick.

"According to the terms we decided beforehand, I am now exempt from doing any homework for Science class, okay?"

I looked straight into Beatrix’s fleeting eyes.

"Okay!"

Because everyone was focusing on her, she could only admit defeat to save her image.

"You won’t bother me whether I am absent from this class or sleep the whole period, okay?"

I kept pressing further.

"Okay!"

In a lowly audible voice, Beatrix acknowledged.

Seeing her frustrated face, I knew I needed to end this facade soon lest she might blow up.

"Finally, you will accept my relationship with Asuna and don’t bother us, no matter what we both do, understood?"

This time my love was extra loud, like giving an ultimatum rather than a normal negotiation.

Woah~

"So romantic!"

"So bold!"

My words instantaneously earned the praise of countless girls who were eating melons, this confrontation between a teacher and student was the first time they had all won, and not to forget the student won against all the odds.

In their eyes, I was like a knight in shining armour, trying my best to protect my girl (Asuna) from the evil woman’s clutches.

If earlier the boys looked at me with envious eyes for finding a stunning-gorgeous girl like Asuna, now the girls looked at Asuna with insidious, jealous eyes for finding a boyfriend like me.

This subtle change in perspective was enough to completely change my image in the school.

Hearing my last sentence, Beatrix’s breathing quickened.

’Not interfere between you and innocent Rainaziel?’

’Not able to take any action against you as you keep trying to fool her?’

Beatrix’s face started twisting into an epilogue of gloominess.

But all the students with their attentive gaze on her were a constant social pressure.

If she refused here, her image as a teacher who upholds moral high ground and maintains a saint-like image would completely collapse!

Not to forget it was she who gave the challenge not the student, so the pressure was even more on her hands.

What will students whisper about her- A teacher who is so petty that she couldn’t even keep her promise?

Beatrix understood her urgent predicament.

She knew it.

This time she suffered a devastating defeat~

All she could do was look at me with her glaring eyes, that’s what I had reduced her to at this very second.

"Fine, I will keep my end of our agreement."

"You can do whatever you want and I won’t care!"

It took an ample amount of strength for Beatrix to deliver this reply.

Her lungs seemed to be empty as her body was devoid of energy after giving this reply.

She felt something in her heart that she was holding so dearly shattered at this instant.

It was painful, her chest felt heavy as her intestines twisted in a way never before.

All she wanted was to run out and kill a handful of humans to vent out her frustration.

"I hope you can stay an obedient student throughout the year, otherwise, I promise, just one mistake or one rule broken on your end, I will make sure that you are brutally suspended from this school."

Beatrix exhaled violently.

It was already hard for her to maintain her composed personality.

’Damn, if I look at his smiling face more, I will definitely kill someone.’

Ughhhhh

"Class over!"

Even though there were still 10 minutes left, feeling outdone, Beatrix readily walked out the door.

Looking at her leaving back, I knew the enmity between us had become even deeper.
