CHAPTER 42: STUDENT COUNCIL’S PRESIDENT

All of a sudden, Claire’s voice became soft as a feather, "I saw Rainaziel who was rushing aimlessly as I was about to go preside over my student council."

"Her mood..."

"With that face of hers, why was her expression so different today?"

"And Beatrix?"

"You made her cry!"

-Claire’s words cut straight through the air like a knife.

Even my heartbeat spiked.

Students who were walking around us slowed down, they seemed to be sensing tension from a distance.

My breathing quickened.

"I had a very peculiar sense of vision, a single misplaced emotion on my dear friend’s face won’t slip past me."

-Claire continued.

Her stare locked over me, refusing to bulge the slightest.

I snorted, "You are saying like I have cast some magic spell over them!"

Claire took a deep breath.

"Beatrix doesn’t cry."

"Rainaziel doesn’t blush."

"Both of them never stutter when I ask them anything."

"Both of them never look to the other side, irritably dismiss me whenever I ask them anything."

-Claire erupted like a volcano.

"Like it’s my business."

I sneered nonchalantly.

Claire stepped even closer, her breath almost falling on my face.

Her sweet chocolate perfume drifted into my nose, making me lose my focus for a second, but I knew the situation was serious.

Biting the tip of my tongue, I managed to retain my rationality in front of such a stunning beauty.

"Did you.....perhaps, provoke them on purpose?"

The question seemed to be directed straight to my soul.

I simply shrugged my shoulders.

"So what?"

Yes, a part of her reasoning was indeed correct, had it not been for the system’s reward I would have never got entangled with the delusional Asuna.

Upon hearing my response, Claire’s face twitched.

"Why are you doing this?"

"Beatrix doesn’t feel good when Rainaziel makes new friends, and this time she directly brought you as her boyfriend."

"I agree with her that commoners like you use girls for your own benefits- whether it’s lust, satisfaction, money, power etc, and then shamelessly discard them like broken dolls."

Claire hissed like a serpent.

Wait, wait?

Hearing her words, a single thought popped into my head.

Misunderstanding, you have misunderstood me, Miss!

"Why?"

"Why are you trying to get in between our circle?"

"Don’t try to fool me by saying that you seriously have fallen for Rainaziel?"

Claire let out a bleak laugh.

"Because it’s fun and thrilling."

"Who would give up the chance to date an extra-gorgeous girl like Asuna?"

-I simply chuckled.

Not to forget even if I die, at least I can always boast that I once dated a disaster-level beauty.

Since time immemorial, scholars have said time again- Twisted melons are not sweet, but they quench thirst.

Claire blinked twice, then thrice, being caught off-guard by my straight response, it took a while before she regained her composure.

"There are two possibilities."

"One- You are exceptionally dumb, or just a daredevil seeking a new adventure."

Claire shook her head to and fro.

"I prefer the word- Honest."

The smile never left my face.

"You moron."

"You are not taking these things seriously."

Claire sharply exhaled.

"I am indeed taking it seriously, but in my own way."

Only God knows how scared I am at every turn, every decision I have to introspect and rethink countless times.

The grind I had been continuously doing from morning to evening after coming to this foreign world is the direct evidence of it.

Only by becoming strong can I stay clear of all troubles, that’s why I am trying my best to complete system tasks.

So Claire has no right to ask me whether I am taking my life seriously or not!

She is not qualified for it.

My reply for sure hit her nerves, her face darkened.

Her fists clenched.

"Hahahahahah!"

Claire laughed once again.

This time it was filled with amusement.

She spoke again.

"Elandor, you know."

"Rainaziel, she is dangerous."

"This isn’t some game that you play on your mobile."

"She holds an immense power in her that even makes me wary."

Claire’s words reminded me of a powerful demon power lying dormant in Asuna’s bloodline.

Seeing my unfazed face, Claire threatened.

"Your calm attitude, you know about it."

"Don’t you?"

Of course, I knew.

I knew better than anyone else.

When my intuitive talent regarding future Sight cautioned me that I may lose my head if I continued to tease Asuna, I stopped immediately.

"I don’t understand what you are saying."

Deciding to play safe, I refuted her claims like the stupid person she had labelled me.

Claire’s gaze drilled right into me like she wanted to find her version of the truth.

Not getting what she wanted, she pressed further,

"Rainaziel is cold-blooded, she has killed lots of your fellow humans."

"I have seen her killing hundreds without blinking."

"The moment she snaps because of your childish antics, it will be your end."

"She will even kill all the spectators around you, leaving no witnesses."

Claire shrieked out.

Heck, I knew better than her.

How could I forget it?

On my first day strolling in this city, Asuna and I enjoyed a beautiful date at a cheap amusement park.

When I thought things between us had progressed, Asuna stabbed me right in the chest, it fucking hurt so much~

Laughing in one second, and stabbing you in another, I know how neurotic a woman Asuna is.

"Yet someone like her was affected by you."

Claire exclaimed in a condescending tone.

"So?"

I replied perfunctorily.

"So you have to stop!"

"Stop doing whatever you want."

"Because if Rainaziel goes crazy, then Beatrix will also surely go crazy killing countless humans in the process."

"So- STOP DATING HER!"

Claire issued me a stern warning.

I could sense it, Claire was worried.

Worried that the intricate balance between humans and supernatural creatures might break because of my interference.

No wonder she always felt like an intelligent girl, she could see through things at once.
