CHAPTER 608: THE GABELLA EMPIRE’S TURMOIL 6

A loud thudding sound came from the stone door of the secret passage.
It seemed something was heavily pounding on the great door.
The sound was so loud it made one’s heart race, but Corrick, or rather Sigrid, was not worried.
This sound indicated that His Highness Antonio had already achieved victory outside.
After a short while, a crack suddenly appeared on the stone door, then a second, a third… Cracks appeared one after another, and finally, with a loud crash, the stone door shattered from the middle, turning into a pile of rocks.
A burly man appeared at the entrance. His two muscular arms were bare, covered in strange runes. He was a wizard.
The man said nothing. Along with others, he quickly cleared away the rubble, and the entrance to the secret passage was completely exposed.
A group of people swarmed into the tunnel and soon saw Sigrid waiting for them.
“Your Highness!” Sigrid bowed to Antonio, who was walking at the forefront. Upon seeing his face clearly, the witch, whose face had been a mask of ice, softened somewhat.
“This is…” Antonio looked at the block of ice on the ground and asked, “My brother?”
Sigrid replied, “Yes, he is indeed Felix.”
Even Antonio, who was known for his composure, felt a wave of intense excitement in his heart.
The most crucial step had been accomplished.
Antonio asked doubtfully, “Is he… all right?”
Sigrid glanced at the human-shaped ice block on the ground, shook her head, and said, “I cannot guarantee that his body will not suffer any damage, but his life can be preserved.”
“Let him go, don’t leave him like this.”
“As you wish, Your Highness!”
Sigrid waved her hand, and everyone heard a crash. The block of ice shattered into a pile of broken ice, revealing First Prince Felix inside.
“Your Highness!” another witch present, Carol, who had just entered with Antonio, suggested, “Should we send people out through this tunnel? Perhaps we can give Duke Dias a surprise!”
“No!” Antonio rejected her suggestion. “That is too dangerous. We should not disperse our forces. The most urgent task is to control the entire palace area and all the court guards, as well as… my father. That way, we will have no opponents in the imperial capital.”
He then looked at Sigrid and said with approval, “You have done very well, Sigrid. Your efforts and contributions to our cause are irreplaceable.”
Sigrid looked at him. “Your Highness, I will carry out your every command and help you achieve ultimate success.”
After speaking, she glanced at Carol, who was beside Antonio, but the latter’s expression showed no fluctuation.
Antonio then called out, “Bennet!”
The man who had smashed the stone door answered in a gruff voice, “Your Highness, what are your orders?”
“Take your men and guard this place!”
“Yes! With me here, no one will get past!”
After making the arrangements, Antonio led his subordinates back to the surface. The still-unconscious Felix was also carried out.
When they saw the sunlight again, Ambolov, Aldridge, Arvis, and others happened to arrive.
“The palace area is already under our control. Even the Empress is under our protection.”
Ambolov reported to Antonio. Everyone knew what he meant by ‘protection’.
Antonio praised them for a while, then said in a low voice, “Now, it is time to see my father, His Majesty the Emperor.”
Ambolov said, “The paths to the garden area have also been sealed off by us. You can go see your father at any time.”
“Let’s go!” After a few seconds of hesitation, Antonio was about to leave.
“No!” Aldridge stopped him.
Everyone looked at the old scholar’s action with puzzled gazes.
Aldridge looked at Ambolov and said, “You must remember, the one who launched the rebellion was Felix, and can only be Felix. You must make His Majesty understand this fact. If His Majesty can understand, that is very good. If His Majesty cannot understand… you know what you must do!”
Ambolov was stunned. He looked at Antonio somewhat helplessly, only to find that His Highness did not meet his gaze at all.
Ambolov nodded heavily. “I understand!”
“And!”
Aldridge called out to him again, instructing, “Regardless of whether he understands or not, you must make His Majesty completely give up on his eldest son.”
“Understood!”
Ambolov agreed, and after speaking, he led a large group of guards away.
In the garden area north of the imperial palace, “Haha, another one’s hooked!”
The Gabella Emperor, Bartley Griffin, was in a good mood today. He had already caught several large fish by the lake.
“As soon as the fish in the water saw Your Majesty’s arrival, they all rushed to bite the hook!”
The attendants beside him showered him with flattery.
“You lot!”
Bartley scolded with a laugh.
Just as everyone was in high spirits, a panicked shout came from the distance. “Your Majesty, it’s bad, it’s bad, a rebellion has broken out in the palace!”
A rebellion? Bartley stood up at once. As the ruler of a country, he was both sensitive to and deeply abhorred this word.
The many guards scattered around immediately gathered, forming a tight circle around Bartley.
“Who? Who is so bold?” Bartley was furious.
The guard who came to report shook his head and said, “It is not yet known, but the other party is numerous and powerful, and they are rushing this way. Please, Your Majesty, take shelter quickly!”
“Take shelter? Yes, we must leave the palace immediately and gather the forces loyal to the empire!”
At that moment, a second guard came running in a hurry, shouting as he ran, “There is no time to leave the palace! Please, Your Majesty, board the boat quickly and take shelter in the middle of the lake first!”
Everyone fell into a panic, hastily crowding around Bartley and boarding a small boat, rowing towards the center of the lake.
Not long after leaving the shore, they saw a large group of people rush to the bank.
Bartley looked towards the shore and was instantly filled with rage. “It’s actually Ambolov! He… he has actually betrayed me. I was truly blind to have entrusted such a person with great responsibility.”
At this time, Ambolov was in full heavy armor, spattered with bloodstains, giving him an incredibly ferocious appearance.
Just then, an attendant reminded him, “Your Majesty, it would be better to ask clearly first.”
Bartley thought that made sense, so he shouted towards the shore, “Ambolov, what has happened? Why do you look like this?”
Ambolov knelt on one knee and replied loudly, “Your Majesty, Felix Griffin has led his confidants to launch a rebellion. His Highness Antonio, upon hearing the news, led troops into the palace to suppress the rebellion. He has now executed the chief culprit, Felix Griffin, and is pursuing the remnants of the rebel army. His Highness Antonio was worried that the chaotic troops might harm Your Majesty, so he sent me to protect you!”
What? His eldest son had launched a rebellion? And then his second son had killed his eldest son?
Bartley Griffin’s vision went black, and he fainted on the boat.
