CHAPTER 616: THE KING’S ARRANGED MARRIAGE 7
TL: Rui88
In the backyard of the Alda legation.
“Hiss!”
Paul leaped back, creating distance between himself and the young Princess Eileen.
The current situation was a bit… awkward!
Paul had thought he could easily make the little princess admit defeat. After all, what girl would be interested in wielding swords and spears!
As for himself, although he spent his days either in the office or in the laboratory, he would occasionally practice his swordsmanship with Victor.
As a man, with the advantage in physique and strength, dealing with a girl who considered herself a scholar should be a piece of cake, right?
However, he was wrong!
Eileen’s swordsmanship was actually faster, more precise, and more ruthless than his!
Every time his sword was about to strike her, she would always dodge in a way that surprised Paul.
Then, while Paul had yet to retract his weapon, she would incredibly nimbly land a strike on him.
Paul was certain that if Eileen were holding a real sword, he would have been stabbed with several bloody holes by now.
Fortunately, they were using wooden swords, so he only had a few more bruises on his body.
Damn it!
“Haha, you… you really are Betty, right? I didn’t mistake you for someone else, did I?”
Actually, the female guard, Leah, standing nearby already served as unequivocal proof of the young girl’s identity.
“Shouldn’t we be sitting down and reminiscing properly right now? Drinking tea while talking about our time in the Northwest Bay…”
“Enough nonsense, Paul Grayman!”
Eileen gripped her sword hilt tightly and said resentfully, “To think I used to consider you a decent friend. I never expected you would try to snatch my sister away from me.” R𝔞ℕö𝖇Ε𝐬
“You are the worst of the worst. Today, I must teach you a good lesson!”
Paul was in a difficult position. What should he do?
Shout for help? Too embarrassing.
Continue fighting? It seemed he couldn’t win.
‘Hmm? Wait, I can’t beat her with a sword, but what if I use other moves…’
‘Eileen is just a girl, after all!’
Paul thought with a bit of mischief. ‘Eileen, oh Eileen, you were the one who clamored for a duel just now.’
‘Since it’s a duel, then don’t blame me for being unscrupulous.’
Just as Paul had this thought, Eileen on the other side actually took the initiative to attack.
In less than a heartbeat, the tip of her sword thrust towards Paul’s chest.
Paul swung his sword to block the attack, but unfortunately, Eileen had feinted this time.
The sword, with a speed that Paul couldn’t react to, changed direction and thrust towards his abdomen.
‘Ouch, that hurts!’ Paul screamed in his heart.
‘Eileen, you just wait. I will definitely get my revenge for today’s humiliation on your sister. You stab me with a sword, I will…’
Paul cursed and swore in his heart, but it did not delay his body from reacting according to his earlier thought.
He endured the pain from the wooden sword and did not retreat. Instead, he recklessly charged forward.
The wooden swords they were using were not real swords; the tip was actually a small, round head. In addition, Eileen had not used her full strength. As Paul lunged forward, the sword tip poking his abdomen slid to one side along his silk shirt.
Paul, however, took a step right in front of Eileen and, very ungentlemanly, slammed his body into hers.
Eileen, as a woman, could not match Paul in strength and weight. When he got close, her proud sword skills were rendered useless, and she was knocked backward.
Eileen actually reacted very quickly. As Paul was about to get close to her, she raised her leg to try and kick him away.
But she was half a beat too slow. What was intended to be a kick at Paul ended up tripping Paul instead.
The result was that Eileen was knocked over by Paul, and Paul was tripped by Eileen, and then…
Paul landed on top of Eileen.
“Aaaah…!”
Eileen, who had never been so close to a man before, let out a sharp, terrified scream.
The guards standing around watched this scene unfold, dumbfounded, both the royal guards and the legation guards.
‘Success?’ Paul thought, although the outcome was embarrassing.
Just then, a cold voice came from the side.
“What are you two doing?”
Paul was greatly alarmed. ‘That voice sounds like?’
He immediately looked in the direction of the voice, and sure enough!
Princess Catherine was looking at him and Eileen with an ashen face.
‘Oh no! When did she get in?’
Paul scrambled up from Eileen’s body with a jolt, hesitated for a moment, then reached out and pulled the little princess up.
He said, sweating coldly, “Your Highness, please let me explain. I was just sparring with your sister just now, and I accidentally…”
But Catherine just looked at him with cold eyes.
‘Ah! It seems she just arrived and saw that embarrassing scene the moment she came in!’
“Sister!”
Eileen, with tears in her eyes, threw herself into Catherine’s arms and cried, pointing at Paul and complaining, “Paul, this guy, was bullying me!”
Paul was getting anxious. ‘Eileen, can you please not talk nonsense!’
“Ahem! Your Highness, please allow me to explain. The situation is actually like this…”
At the critical moment, Eileen’s female guard, Leah, spoke up and explained the whole story to Catherine. Paul was immensely grateful to her in his heart.
Catherine, knowing the truth of the matter, gave her sister a rap on the forehead.
“Stop crying! This was all caused by your foolishness in the first place!”
“But… but…” Eileen said, feeling very wronged. “Paul shouldn’t have done that either. It was so against the rules of swordsmanship.”
“What? Are you going to talk about rules with an enemy in a duel? Of course you do whatever it takes to defeat them!”
Catherine was a little helpless at her sister’s naivety.
“Count Grayman!”
Catherine’s tone made Paul, who thought he was already out of the woods, tense up.
“Although Eileen used inappropriate words at the beginning, what’s the matter with you taking it seriously? That scene just now…”
Speaking of this, Catherine frowned slightly. “It was truly unbecoming.”
Paul was a little embarrassed. “I apologize, Your Highness. I was too serious and offended Princess Eileen.”
Catherine shook her head. She felt particularly annoyed when facing Paul.
Speaking of which, this was their first meeting since she had learned of her marriage.
She had gone looking for Eileen earlier and learned from a servant that Eileen was going to find Count Grayman to “take back” her sister. Worried that Eileen would cause some trouble, Catherine had hurriedly rushed to the Alda legation as well.
In fact, she had thought about many things on the way.
When she saw Paul, she had lost the composure she had during their first meeting. All sorts of emotions were mixed together.
There was anger and fear, as well as awkwardness and nervousness, and even a hint of shyness.
Although all these emotions were forcibly hidden by her, to outsiders, she was still a majestic princess.
“Come back with me, Eileen!”
She commanded her sister in a somewhat stern tone, like a parent catching a child who had secretly run off to be mischievous.
Catherine did not want to stay here any longer. She did not know how to face Paul.
“Okay, sister.”
And now Eileen was indeed like a child who had been caught after sneaking out.
She had completely lost the proud air she had when she came looking for Paul.
As she was leaving, Eileen turned back to look at Paul.
“Paul, you’re actually a pretty good person. I hope you can protect my sister well in the future!”
The two people involved immediately blushed, although they did not look at each other again!
